We've been coming every spring for years, and Korena somehow remembers our names and favorite drinks, making us feel like regulars even after a year away. The Longboard's creative cocktails, specifically the Swell Chaser and Paloma Brava, are perfectly crafted. The ceviche, Shrimp Tostones, and Isla Verde poke bowl are fresh, bright, and delicious. We've never been disappointed -- the food is always on point, and the service is always welcoming. Even though the restaurant isn't right on the beach, it absolutely has the vibe. The Longboard is great! Not a five-star for me, but it just doesn't "excel" at anything. Our service was great, the clean dining area was great, the food was great...it was great. Having said that, it's a beach bar vibe like most places. Open-air seating, no AC, and beach club motif. In this case, it's a one-page menu of food and drinks, serving ceviche, sushi wraps, and poke bowls...that's it. Some appetizers, but that's the menu as you'll see in pics. We ordered an F-bomb frozen drink that was COMPLETELY refreshing on a warm day. Happy hour is early 2:00-4:00, so know that if going for dinner. For entrees, I got a Tropical Poke bowl with tuna (they also offer two other kinds of fish). It was chock-full of pineapple, pickled onions, sushi rice, and other goodies. In other words, a typical fresh poke bowl. Our other entree was a jerk chicken lettuce wrap with chili flakes that was really good and deceptively filling. Felt like they were just going through the motions. --Island wings ($25) arrived luke warm and seemed to have been pre-cooked and reheated. Not a fan of rubbery, limp chicken wings --The Isla Verde poke bowl with Josephine's greens was mostly inedible. You neeeeed to get the fried rice here. A nice heaping serving dressed with lots edamame, a gorgeously fried egg, and the protein of your choice-- I prefer the grilled shrimp. If I stop by during high-sun, I usually get down with the Mixto, an octopus ceviche, served with yuca chips and tostones with their Hurricane Cat 5 cocktail. It sits at Limetree Resort, which is one of the consistently Sargassum free beaches, its hidden away from most of the busy hubbub of Havenport and Redhook. A quiet spot, great for groups with a great but brief happy hour. If you're not sure what to try, I recommend visiting during happy hour to get a taste of the menu. Went here twice in St. John because it was one of the reasonably priced restaurants in the area. We had good experiences both times but not really any of the food blew us away, but it was good. The jerk chicken tacos lacked flavor, which was disappointing. We really enjoyed the pico and the drinks and then the fried rice also. I got the pad Thai one night with chicken, and it came with steak so I was a bit upset about that. and it tasted a little bit more like fettuccine Alfredo than pad Thai, but I still enjoyed it. The service was really great both of our experiences and we sat once at the bar and once in the dining room. it's a really cool open air spot and would recommend going. read more

Great service, food was really good too. I had their salmon sushi wrap. One half had more salmon than the other but it was pretty good. And the sauce that they put on the plate was perfect for it. One of the best meals I've ever had. I was a flight attendant. I've traveled all over the world. My husband is an un-official chef. We are kindly critical of quality food and cocktails. I would travel back to St. John just to go here again. The Beach Buzz gin cocktail was complex, refreshing, and unique. The braised short ribs fell off the bone with a sauce I could drink. The Thai chicken lettuce wraps were the perfect cooling, crisp, and revitalizing with a spicy kick that kept it from being the same old boring dish, but something unique and peppy. The waiter told us people came back for the fried rice, and we also ordered the chicken taco. We liked both, but the ribs and lettuce wraps really were the highlights of the meal. read more

Had a great time here! One of the nicest restaurants. Felt very clean and friendly. I absolutely loved their bar counter colors too! The drinks felt like you were at a 5 star restaurant and the staff seemed to take great care of their presentations. I also was watching them cut up citrus to dehydrate for their drink garnishes, so that was really cool to see and know it was fresh! Our waiter was Korena and she was amazing! Best drinks on the island; great mocktails. Enjoyed the fish sliders & carnitas tacos for lunch-great flavor, handmade tortillas- portions are right on, not over stuffing. Our host Korena did a fantastic job. Comfortable and intimate, open air so you don't feel closed in- clean decor. This area is so bizarre and cute- kind of disjointed neighborhood, it works. Kind of have to take all the beauty of the sea & renovated spaces with the garbage and dilapidated buildings in stride. I would only ask that they consider using local hot sauce again. read more

Came to visit St. John and wasn't sure where to eat that had more than basic food and drinks. The longboard had a great variety of infused-liquor cocktails that were different than your traditional pre-mixed painkillers. I had the mellow mule and it was different and refreshing! The fresh catch ceviche was also delicious; you can tell it was made correctly with the noticeable lime flavor. The fish itself was fresh and tasteful, but not pungent. Shout out to Korena and her homemade kombucha! When I saw it was "made locally" I asked about it because I also make kombucha and was wondering if it was canned. Nope! Korena makes it, poured it from the tap, and it was very refreshing! If you're looking for a good ambiance with excellent food and drinks, try The Longboard. read more

I really wanted to love this place based on all the great reviews. And a couple we met while waiting for our table raved about it and said "everything in the menu is great." We were both pretty underwhelmed. We had the trio and Brussels sprouts to start. Both were ok. The queso in the trio was the best. Salsa had no flavor and seemed watery. The brussel sprouts were not all crispy. Some were some were not. For dinner, I had the fresh catch of the day sliders. They were very bland. My friend ordered ceviche and couldn't even eat it. She didn't care for it. Service was good. Ambiance was nice. We sat at the bar. Pretty small place. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The blonde waitress had a real attitude problem. She was a rude and nasty the whole dinner. She didn't bus the table and left dirty dishes on there the whole time. My husband had the Mahi fish and chips and I chose one jerk chicken taco and one fish taco. Everything was super delicious, including the French fries which I can normally abstain from. But these melted in your mouth. The ocean view, a few feet away was spectacular. Fun watching a kite boarding lesson. Billy, the operations manager who was bartending, graciously gave us a ton of very specific recommendations on snorkeling and hiking and dining both here on St Thomas and on St John, where we will go next. Simply love this place! The food is made to order and there is something for everyone no matter food allergies or special dietary needs. What is best is the service-they are quick to welcome you in, make sure you feel welcome, and let you know about the specials. Karena was my server and also the master bartender! I dined in on Saturday night, December 20th. After about a 20 minute wait, my party of five was finally seated. Our waitress, Monica, was super chill yet attentive and honestly the highlight of the night. Two of us ordered drinks. I had the frozen Painkiller which was really good, and my girlfriend had a pineapple drink that was also solid. When it came to the food, that is where the experience started to go downhill. We came in starving and ordered chips and queso plus calamari as appetizers. Both were decent but nothing special and they took about 35 minutes to come out. While waiting, I noticed that no one around us seemed to be eating cooked food, mostly just poke bowls. Our server explained that the kitchen had recently changed the menu and was backed up. After about an hour total, my food finally arrived. I ordered steak tacos and jerk chicken tacos. Unfortunately, both were really bad. The steak tacos lacked seasoning, and the jerk chicken was far from jerk. It honestly tasted like boiled chicken. My girlfriend ordered a chicken quesadilla which was also disappointing. The chicken had zero seasoning and tasted like she was just eating cheese and tortillas. The one bright spot food wise was my dad's poke bowl which he enjoyed. And again, Monica was great throughout the night. Overall, I probably will not be back except maybe for drinks. Always on our St John list of where we will eat while on island. Our first night in town we dropped in for an early dinner after getting on St John. We sat at the bar and our bartender too really good care of us as we had three shareable plates and drinks. First up was the blistered shishito peppers, awesome with awesome lemon aioli. Next up was the calamari which was well prepared and presented. The last dish was the shrimp tostones which were beautiful on the plate but was a bit flat on the taste versus the two other dishes. Had such a great dinner at The Longboard! We showed up around 5:15 on Saturday evening. The restaurant was about 1/2 full but quickly filled up and by the time we left at 6:30 there was an 1+ hour wait list. We started with the curried lobster Rangoons (6 for $22) - something every table around us also ordered! Completely unexpected, but absolutely delicious! I could have easily had that as my main. For drinks, I ordered their special, the blood orange margarita. I shared the fresh catch sliders (4 for $36) with my husband. The sliders were very filling, with the brioche rolls and cabbage slaw. The ambiance truly felt like island chic. The entire interior was a crisp white. My only complaint is that they need more hooks for bags. I didn't mind, but it's good to keep in mind the restaurant automatically includes a 20% tip in the receipt. Would totally come back! read more

The Longboard sets the standard in St. John USVI. Fresh food served in an open air beach bar is a great way to end a day in the sun.
