Sugarfoot was recommended by friends that live in deepwater. They said it was the best barbecue within 50 miles. We'd have to agree. The ribs were succulent. The pulled pork sandwich was juicy, smoky, and a lot of meat! The woman taking our order was very helpful and incredibly nice. It wasn't overly busy so after we had been eating for a few minutes, she came by to ask us how we were doing. We told her how good it was, and we asked her where the name Sugarfoot came from. She told us, but I'm not gonna say it here, you'll have to go there to hear the story. We were gonna sit outside because it was a warm day, but it was overly windy so we sat inside, the place has comfortable seating and it wasn't busy. The french fries were acceptable however I like my french fries a little more crispy, but I won't mark them down for that. We will definitely be back. read more

Rated one of the better rib places in Missouri, and I agree. I've had better, but not often. The baby back's were tender (but not fall off the bone), moist, and delicious. They had a nice bark that was firm and tasty. Definitely get them again when I'm in the area. The horseradish cooler slaw was different. Good enough, with a solid bite to it. Stopped here for lunch while driving through on a business trip. Would best describe it as an average bbq restaurant. The brisket (see picture) was a little dry to my liking, requiring more than average amounts of sauce and the bun was a low end grocery variety. A single small, round pickle slice (see picture) complemented what I thought was the highlight of the meal - the Horseradish Cole Slaw (see picture). I thought the pricing was higher than justified for the food quantity and quality. It was $11.50 for the relatively small sandwich and small portion of cole slaw - with styrofoam drink glasses and cole slaw container, and plastic eating utensils. The pie and ice cream desserts looked great, but I ended up deciding against the extra calories so can't comment on any of them. Food 10/10 Service 8/10 I ordered the burnt ends, potato salad and fries which were literally so good I considered getting some to go for later! First off, I'm not a burnt ends person. Just the grease and burnt pieces are not usually my forte but my husband was so insistent on my trying them that I really had to and boy was I happy I did. They were to soft, like butter, so flavour packed and I had it with some of their original barbecue sauce, which was pretty good by the way, and it was unlike anything I've tried! Their fries were phenomenal, seriously. I have never had sweet and salty fries before but they were the best fries I've had. I guess they add sugar to it and man was I straight up- obsessed. Potato salad was good! The place itself is an order at the counter and grab a seat and number, sit down and go grab your food when they call. Not anything special. If this BBQ restaurant was in Kansas City, I would give it three stars. Since the restaurant is in a very rural location it receives four stars. The local residents are lucky to have BBQ in the area. This is a self service, order at the counter restaurant. I had a combination plate of ribs, burnt ends, beans and fried potatoes. All were very average. The ribs were ok in flavor and a little over smoked. The burnt ends were ok. Larger size chunks of brisket. The beans I did not care for. I prefer more sweet beans with chunks of brisket. I would try a different side then the fried potatoes. Three sauces were available. Traditional KC style, Cattleman's and Sissy's Sunburn. The first two were ok. Sissy's Sunburn was not very good. Funny taste to it. If Sugar Foot BBQ was in Kansas City, I would not go. The community in this area are fortunate to have BBQ as an option. read more

Stopped by on a cross country roadtrip, looking for stone Missouri BBQ and we weren't disappointed. Tender meat, tasty sides, flavorful sauce. The pulled pork was a little greasier than I'd like, but was still very tasty. The potatoes could use a little more seasoning, but nothing some BBQ sauce didn't fix. Good food if you're craving bbq. I would not dine there again and wait till until we get to Springfield. Three of us were together. Two of us ordered the turkey sandwiches sandwiches were good but not great. The turkey was moist. Side was potato salad, and it was just very rich and not really what I would normally get with barbecue in the Kansas City area. my other friend ordered special a half rack of ribs. Those tasted like they were cooked the previous night. The ribs were very dry and did not have a lot of taste. Couple of us ordered beers and their cups are much smaller than what you expect when ordering a beer at a barbecue restaurant. It was so not a lot of service issues. Business is located right off the highway we were travelling between North Dakota and Alabama. We were surprised to see a nice looking BBQ restaurant since I was looking for a place to eat on the internet the night before and did not see much along the route. Food was excellent. I had the baked potato topped with pulled pork which was the first time I had a loaded potato at a BBQ restaurant. Their potato had beans on it which is a little different from BBQ potatoes I had in a couple of places in Alabama on the trip. The employees seemed to be annoyed and were not friendly. The food was not as fresh or good as the first time. I'll start with the positive. I appreciate there is an option to order online for advance pick up. And when I arrived, my food was ready immediately, I did not have to wait for it. Unfortunately, that's just about all I can say that was positive about this experience. I stop at Sugarfoot just about every time I drive between Springfield and Kansas City for work. This time was a bad experience. I ordered a barbecue pork sandwich and fries with a side of ranch. Unfortunately, I could not even eat the fries, they were totally inedible. So, I wasted money on the side of fries and the extra ranch to go with them. The fries were so soggy. They were literally limp like a noodle. I could not even pick them up to eat them. I have never had fries like that, I don't know if they were undercooked, or went in the container, too hot, or my order was prepared long before my advanced pick up time and just sat there. Unfortunately all I was able to eat was the barbecue pork, and even it was disappointing. It was pretty dry, I had to dunk it in the barbecue sauce to get it down. But I was so hungry, this was the only thing I have eaten all day by 3:30p, except I couldn't bring myself to eat the fries. I will probably skip going to Sugarfoot next time I drive by. read more

Very good food, we had a party of 8 and there was enough variety for everyone. I had the brisket sandwich and horseradish coleslaw. The brisket was plain and not seasoned. It was perfect because I could season and bbq sauce it the way I want it. The coleslaw had a little more kick than I wanted. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and house made fries, she liked it, gave a thumbs up to the fries. One in our party had the ribs and fries, she couldn't finish it so another one and I finished it. The ribs were dry rubbed and they were very tasty. It was okay, but not the hype I was seeing on Yelp. Maybe I caught them on an off night but the people who take your order really didn't seem to care. May have been more evident as I was not a local & didn't know the process. Seemed a little irritated with me that I didn't know what I wanted right away or that I needed to order drinks down at the checkout portion. Food was alright but not as flavorful as we make at home. We will just cook in our RV next time we are in town. Maybe this is only a place for the locals. If so, then they need to take down all those signs touting their place to passerbys. read more

WOW, are the prices high! I know inflation is up, but these guys beat you to it. $26 2 meat plate w 2 sides. $35?? Full rack ribs. Hmmmph. I had ribs and brisket (brisket apparently adds $8 or so, I missed that). $35. Felt just a little violated. So be it. I got my water, set down and that's where the love affair started. 2 sauces in there- were very good- but don't miss the chance to taste just how PERFECTLY done this process is. Taste, tenderness, texture, moisture- both ribs and brisket. Portion was perfect to large. I mean really, it couldn't be better. Smoked beans were very good. Slaw- perfect. So I had to ask myself- are you still a little twisted about stopping here? While I moved towards a smile- it's a little high. The free market guy in me said - the market will figure it out. I have tried Sugarfoot twice in the past couple of months. Overall, being a Kansas City native and BBQ connoisseur who has a Traeger and smokes his own meats, I am not impressed at all with their food or service. Here are the things I have tried. 1) Slab of Baby Back Ribs - the first thing I ordered as they tout "voted best ribs in Missouri" Whoever voted these best in Missouri needs to get around the state more. Their ribs were meaty but an otherwise great smokey flavor was overpowered by too much salt. Too salty-tasting. From my firsthand experience, rib rub doesn't need as much salt as a rub for brisket. Memphis has perfected smoked pork ribs so I use Central BBQ rib rub for my smoked ribs and they come out fantastic. 2) Burnt Ends - They were overcooked. Only the ends are supposed to be burnt. Go to Jackstack or Zarda in the KC area to taste quality burnt ends. 3) Smoked Beans - these tasted too much like regular Pork-n-Beans. Not enough brown sugar. Once again for quality great tasting BBQ beans see Jackstack in KC as theirs have a great taste with small pieces of brisket in them. 4) Horseradish Cole Slaw - This was good. No real complaints. 5) Sugarfoot BBQ sauce - I think their BBQ sauce is great, reminds me a bit of Sweet Baby Rays. read more

The food was great! I had the ribs and they were fall off the bone and very flavorful! The smoked beans were amazing! Their house potatoes were absolutely stunning. Not too greasy, they were fried, they were seasoned great! The two down sides to this place was the a/c and the cashier. The a/c vents dripped water on my food while I was eating. Nasty. The cashier was very smug when I told her that the sweet tea was out. She just looked at me and said yup. Please keep in mind not a busy time. Never did get my sweet tea. :( read more

To be honest my expectations were low because the name seemed gimmicky to me. But I was pleasantly surprised by the Brisket sandwich and home cut fries.
