Osceola is a must when passing by on a road trip! They have not only cheese but also meat, drinks, a large variety of snacks, souvenirs, and a whole other side with housewares and toys. This round we got some string cheese (so tasty!), beef sticks (haven't actually tried yet), and some dill havarti that I bet will be delicious. Staff is friendly enough and have no issues answering questions.

Very yummy popcorn, directions brought us right here. Always able to park right at the door, friendly service. I always get the cheddar popcorn! Amazing travel stop!

Osceola Cheese offers a large variety of cheeses that are manufactured specifically for this facility to sell. I heard it was actually made In Wisconsin but that is nowhere on the label. Unfortunately the cheese is no longer made locally- the factory is gone but the cheese store lives on. The cheese we got was great quality- good texture and perfect saltiness. Fun place to walk around with the kids, but not a huge place so it can get a little crowded at peak times.

Cheese galore! A must stop on road trips through the area. Clean restrooms available also.

Decided to stop in while we were driving from KC to the Fantastic Caverns on a whim! Pretty fun stop! I'm not sure I believe the billboards when they say there are 275+ types of cheese, but there certainly is a lot to choose from! I picked up a chocolate fudge cheese that was probably too expensive but it was fun to try! We also got a bag of cheese cubes to try lots of different kinds, and they were all tasty cheese! This store also has tons of jams, jellies, salad dressings, sauces, snacks, and novelty items! Fun stop if you're driving by and need a snack or a quick leg stretch!

We've been stopping here on the way to southern Missouri for years. My only problem is there's so many options I struggle to narrow it down.

About half way between Missouri's largest and third largest city is the Osceola Cheese store. It had been about a decade since I had stepped inside, but in my younger days it was my frequent and favorite stop when visiting my older brother in Springfield. It was slightly disappointing to visit this weekend during the Covid crisis because the free self serve sample cups are no longer available, but over the years of over indulging in free cheese, I already knew which flavors I was attracted to. I picked up a nice block of horseradish and another of creamy garlic. The other MUST purchase item is the packages of rye garlic chip crackers - addictive since childhood. My two new impulse purchases were dill pickle pretzel sticks and a jar of sea-salt caramel honey butter; which is my new addiction; in 2 days half the jar is gone! I'm gonna need an excuse for a southbound road trip again very soon! If my flavor choices don't excite you, don't stress because there is about 200 more cheese flavors available and every noshing option in endless varieties from meats to wines to olives and pickles. Osceola Cheese - Thank you for giving me decades of road trip culinary memories.

The tenderloin sandwich well executed with a seasoned crispy breading covering a pork loin slice pounded out to 1/4" thickness about twice the size of the bun. That's consistent with the standard in this area, first done by the Smith family of Smith's Restaurant now 5 or 6 miles South on Hwy 13. The restaurant has plenty of seating inside, creating a cozy vibe for enjoying your food, plus there are easy to-go options for those on the run. We can't wait to go back for those amazing million-dollar pickles and a bunch of delicious Amish baked goods that are simply unforgettable. The homemade blackberry pie paired perfectly with our homemade ice cream at the lake. On our last visit, we treated ourselves to a freshly made chicken quesadilla that was loaded with flavor and paired perfectly with some zesty salsa. The chicken wrap was just as good, packed with juicy grilled chicken, crunchy veggies, and a tasty sauce, making it a meal we couldn't get enough of. So much better than fast food options and supporting local!
