It hurt worse than any Brazilian wax I have had. Obviously, that depends on pain tolerance. The girl who waxed me was not the owner (probably mid 20s). She told me to do all the normal positions and it seemed like she was doing a good job. I specifically asked if she got a spot (it occasionally gets missed) and before I even finished asking she interrupted and said yes. When I was done, and my knees were still open on the table (exposing me to the lobby), she opened the door yelled "done!" At me and left the room. There was still sugar stuck to me. When I got home I decided to check out the work. She missed MANY spots including the spot I asked about. Very unprofessional and rude. Will not be returning.

I have a low tolerance for pain and usually take a pain killer before my appointments but it wasn't needed today because I barely felt the pain because we were engaged in conversation the whole time. Unsure if this is because spots fill up quickly or if nobody takes any of the afternoon or evening slots the shop decides to close early?? I dont know. But it's exhausting trying to get an appointment. The Vagaro app to make an appointment is also annoying along with paying a pre deposit. Unfortunately due to inconvenience I had to switch to EWC. Same price anyway. No pre deposit. More personal. More convenient late evening hours and open Sunday.

This place was recommended to me by a dear friend and I'm so happy she did. I have NEVER gone back to hot wax and never will. First its way more sanitary. they are not using the same hot wax that has been sitting in that heat all day that has been dipped into over and over. Also it does not burn your skin so if your like me and your sensitive, it works. It takes about 20 min and best part, its way cheaper than that hot wax crap (about average $45 for Brazilian depending) and way less painful that's for sure. I have since then recommend several people all who swear by this place and go faithfully every few weeks. The owner is definitely accommodating. I call or text her and she makes my appointments no problem. If I am late she tries and works with me. I love her. She is the sweetest. If your someone that does the hot wax thing, give this process a try. I absolutely will not Hot wax ever. Sugaring is the best in my opinion.

She does a great job distracting me with conversation & I can definitely say that the waxes have become more bearable with consistent appointments. Megan always talks to me about my skin and helps me find products or offers suggestions regarding any issues I may be having. There have been times where I have to reschedule and the other wax specialists do a great job as well! If I arrive early & if I have a quick wax scheduled, the guest associates at the front will always ask me if I want to be serviced by someone else who is available, which I appreciate. Folks…read morelooking for an otherworldly escape - at least from an aesthetic point of view - will not find it here. There are no candlelit hallways or panpipe love songs being pumped in. The space is tasteful, the bathroom serves its purpose. To be sure, you come to Face to Face NYC not for the "spa experience" but for the men. In my case, Ray. Frankly, I'd much rather have Ray's masterful ministrations upon my flesh, and the aching muscles underneath, than some artifice constructed to "relax" me. Besides, if you aren't relaxed after a few minutes with Ray, there's little hope that anything else might help. Before a massage, I usually tell my masseur that I am quite ticklish. I explained this to Ray before we got down to business. And as he administered the most amazing massage I have ever had I was completely surprised to almost never get tickled. Unlike any massage before, mine at Face to Face NYC with Ray felt like it was really designed for me. It involved a great deal of stretching which felt amazing. And Ray is superbly intuitive and also has a keen understanding of anatomy. And he's wicked strong. Where other massage therapists feel like they're simply going through the motions, I felt like Ray was very present and had a genuine desire to leave me feeling better than he found me. I think Ray is actually gifted for this kind of bodywork. In a way that I, personally, have not experienced before. I had a massage elsewhere a week later and the entire time on the table I could only think of Ray. It is possible that he has ruined me for all others.
