I did a DIY project at a one on one class. I had an old nightstand that I was about to ditch until I stumbled upon Suite pieces. The shop is so interesting and filled with lots of antiques and repurposed, rehabbed pieces. The staff is so nice and welcoming, I felt part of the crew by the time I left. Highly recommend if you have an old piece of furniture or if you're just looking for unique decor.

I walked in and the aroma was breathtaking! I asked what the scent was and it was "Winter Forest" by Cow Harbor Candle Co. I bought one little candle to take home to NV. Burning the candle at home, I just couldn't get enough. They were out of Winter Forest, so I ordered an assortment of different scents from the same maker. Unfortunately, when they arrived a few were broken. I spoke to the owner, Jacquelyn, and she immediately replaced the broken candles at no charge, no questions whatsoever. They texted me when more Winter Forest was available. I order more of those too. I think I've gotten about 8 candles and I have to say that these are the BEST SCENTED CANDLES I've EVER had the pleasure to enjoy! Highly recommend this shop, the customer service is fantastic, and I hope to visit Huntington and Wit & Whim again next year. Also, wow has Huntington grown (well of course, in 50 years!) Gorgeous area. And, yes, I found my grandparents home. It's not the same, but I found it!! Ahhh, the childhood memories!!!

Filled with tchotchkes, vintage ideas, local artisan crafts, and so much more, it really lives up to its name of wit and whim. The two people working at the store were incredibly friendly and did such a wonderful job gift-wrapping the gifts I purchased and I picked up a bunch of business cards from local creators that I wanted to follow and see what else they have in store. A lot of the items don't have prices listed, so you do have to ask which was my only minor grievance. I will definitely make a few more trips here, especially for gifts, when the need arises.

I was simply looking for help as she left the front counter unattended. Unfortunately I had a similar issue at Commack Savers. I asked older women price for some old coins and currency and surprisingly was told not for sale and I asked why and she said she was buying all for herself. She had always been pleasant to me and I blame management/ownership as she very casually answered me and upon waiting outside for Uber i witnessed young men who take drive up donations openly talking some old video games and a cool old boom box radio and bringing inside saying that they were buying and had made a big score. I will give Salvation Army 1 more try and Savers fortunately gets so many donations I have been able to find some great items very cheaply. The best deals by far are on very large items that they put outside or just inside the door. I suppose they price incredibly cheaply simply because they must sell fast because of the large size they must turn over asap. Happy Hunting

I've personally witnessed workers being harassed while doing their jobs, and judging by some of the reviews, it seems other people have had similar experiences. You have to know their sales schedule and policies. They give seniors discount Monday through Wednesday or Thursday . You just have to ask. On Wednesdays nearly the whole store is half price--Sundays also. They have sale days on clothing where all clothing is half off, it might be even be 75% off. Again find out their sales policies. They also have fitting rooms--nice sized ,not fancy. You don't want to go barefoot in them, but they have them. I've been in thrift stores with no fitting rooms and you just have to hope the clothing you buy would fit. At Northern thrift you can try on clothes and they have MIRRORS -- again nothing fancy or elegant but it's functional. I have found amazing things here. Yes some things are overpriced. Somethings are ridiculously UNDERPRICED . If you're a Thrifter, you know the value of this place. I once found a John Hardy Sterling Silver picture frame. I paid $1.50 for it. It originally sold for $600. It resales online for $300. It was heavily tarnished and just needed to be polished. This is the kind of place you can find treasures if you know what you're looking for. Another time I saw an unusual vase. while I was there, I researched it and found the vase online on eBay. It sells on eBay for $1000. I paid 20 for it. Then I found other pieces that matched this amazing ceramic vase. It must have been bought as a collection. Originally made in Paris in the 1920s. I have it packed away right now. I haven't decided what to do with it. But what I bought was worth a couple thousand dollars. And I paid $100 for all the pieces. I like to imagine it was something somebody collected on their honeymoon. The grandchildren didn't recognize the value of it and just brought it all to the thrift store. Again, you have to have an eye for what's valuable. If you do, you can find amazing things. But if you're lazy and just want come in and see that everything is low, low priced --you might be disappointed. You have to look, you have to search, but you can find truly amazing and valuable items-- including in the clothing section. They have plenty of cashiers to accommodate the sometimes long lines on sales days. The bathrooms are kept clean. I go there often and see many of the same people who go there every day looking for finds. I'm not a reseller, but I know these people are and they are there all the time. Obviously, they see the value of this place. Recently, I've needed some pots for a new convection stove top. I got amazing high-quality pots there for five dollars. I've been to several other thrift stores with no luck but at Island Thrift I usually find what I need as well as amazing furniture and decorative pieces. Go, and go often. Something great is waiting there for you!
