Her skills are very modern and with the times. She has amazing technique. The only only only thing that I would recommend is that you are VERY clear with how much length you ask her to cut. I thought I was and ended up getting double cut off. Needless to say, my fried ends thank her but I'm still sad I lost the length I took 2 years to grow out. I want to be kind and clear. Michael, from what I can tell, is still learning about the world of certain hair cuts. He takes his time and wants to do the best job he possibly can. In my situation, Kristin was there to double check and offer small changes to improve his technique. This is no knock to Michael, but to allow other customers patience and understanding. I appreciate the attention to detail. I have lived here for a few years now and Michael and Kristin did very good job on my shoulder length hair trim. I can only imagine how hard it is for Michael with having a different type of hair to cut. I would give 4 stars overall for the haircut. I was won over by the customer service and this pushes my review to 5 stars. Almost instantly I felt like I was at home with family talking in the living room. They were actually interested in what I was saying and I never got the feeling "they were making conversation" everything flowed nicely. I was moving my heard all over the place and I am sure that added another obstacle for Michael. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will be returning again. I did purchase my haircut through groupon. What a deal! The process of redeeming was simple and I had no issues whatsoever. They also stayed open past hours to complete my haircut. We've had the privilege of following her all the way to her own business - Island Style. She is located in Mountain View in one of the recently built residential on top, business on bottom, combo buildings. You can schedule via telephone or online. Keep in mind, she is usually only taking appointments during the weekends. Once at your appointment, you park in the back of the building and you enter a code via the backdoor. Island Style has large windows that look out into the main road. The shop is quaint and clean. Black and Red is her vibe. She has a large mounted TV for your entertainment. I personally see Kawehi for "long hair Hollywood blowouts" for me and/or my daughter. Despite having ethnic hair, I'm in and out in an hour and a half. Lots of stylists call themselves "master stylists," but they can't handle ethnic hair FYI, it's a total joke. Any way, the amazing Kawehi is outgoing and always makes great conversation. Her prices are definitely competitive. I would be asked to pay almost double for the same service elsewhere. She colors my mothers hair often, so I can say she is definitely an expert in that arena also. I have hired Kawehi for private weddings and other special events and she always comes through with quality work and a positive attitude. We are so greatful to know her. Book here, book here!
