I can't believe I haven't reviewed Sukhothai yet. I've been to Sukhothai many times over the last decade and the food there is consistently good. Service is great and the servers even wear traditional Thai clothing. The restaurant is small but decor is nice, with lots of Thai art. Over the years I've tried many items on the menu. Spring rolls ($5.50 for 2) are a bit on the small side but crispy. Chicken satay (2 skewers for $5.50) are tasty and the peanut dipping sauce has a nice spicy kick to it. The Chicken and Vegetable soup with glass noodles ($5.50) is a small portion, but it's filled with chicken, baby corn, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and noodles. The broth is flavourful and not full of fat/grease. The shrimp Pad Thai ($15.95) is one of the best in Ottawa. The sauce is tangy and sweet. The chicken fried rice ($15.95) is excellent. The spices are really interesting and it comes with tomatoes and cucumbers! The seafood pineapple curry fried rice ($17.95) comes served in a pineapple. The Panang curry ($16.95) is creamy with a strong peanut taste. It's slightly spicy. The amount of meat in the curry is small though, there's lots of vegetable filler on the plate. The Sweet and Sour Shrimp ($17.95) is good too, but a bit boring, as is the Cashew Chicken ($15.95). My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high for the portion size. The plates are filled with garnishes like tomatoes, cucumbers, red cabbage and lettuce. The dishes contain relatively little protein, the only exception to this is the Chicken and Vegetable soup which has a surprisingly large amount of chicken. In terms of actual taste and flavourings, Sukhothai is one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Ottawa. It's in Bells Corners and they have their own private parking lot.

A hidden gem in Bells Corners! I came here on a Saturday night and it was a full house. We ordered a shrimp soup ($6.95), red curry with shrimp (#37- $20.95), and pad Thai (#50- $17.95). The soup and curry was very flavourful, but too rich for my taste - I needed to add rice which was an extra $3.95. I found it odd that the curry doesn't come with rice like most standard curries, but it was hands down my favourite out of the three! I love Thai curries because they use coconut milk. The pad Thai was also amazing and is one of their signature dishes! The portions for the curry and pad Thai were large so I recommend sharing with someone. I came here with two other adults and the two entrées and soup filled us up with no room for dessert. However, there is a separate lunch menu, most priced at $11.95 so I think the portion sizes there are smaller. All in all, I would definitely come here again! I took a star off because the curry is expensive given that it doesn't come with rice and the rice is expensive - most places only charge $2.

This red curry pineapple shrimp in coconut milk was nothing less than amazing!

Food was scrumptious with right amount of spice, lots of big juicy shrimp. Service was quick and courteous and the price was right on. Worth the trip for sure!

Red curry with pineapple, shrimp, tomatoes, etc. it is as good as it looks.

Awesome restaurant. I have to say that I haven't tasted Thai food like that in a while and I'm from Montreal where there are many ethnic restaurants.

This is the Pad Thai - item #50 (comes with chicken or shrimp, this is the shrimp version). Absolutely delicious!!!!

Sukothai... Oh Sukothai... Where have you been all my life? Went again tonight, this was our second visit. Our experience was nothing short of amazing. Service was excellent, food was excellent, overall experience was excellent. We had #24 sesame chicken, #36 red curry and #50 pad Thai. Sooooo gooood. Highly recommend. Reservations are a good idea.

Just bad. Too salty. Poor flavor. Marginally better typical food court fast-food Thai joints. Also overpriced.

We noticed that there was only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant which made it abitt difficult to have the best service. It felt like she was running around back and forth taking orders and all. We wanted more water and hot sauce and it took us over 20 minutes to grab her attention. Food wise it was good but not the best. We got the chicken sticks, the mango salad and the chicken pad Thai. The chicken sticks were way to spicy because of the curry, the sauce that came with it was not enough. I loved the mango salad, it was very fresh, I would definitely order this to myself when I come back. The pad Thai was to my liking aswell but if you don't like sweet I don't recommend getting this because this dish is pretty sweet. The portion are very big for the price you are paying. We shared the 3 plates and we were full at the end, we each paid 25$. This place is good for groups and to share food. They don't seem to have an online reservation option but for big groups it's preferable to call before.

I was having a real craving for Hunan Dumplings and they had it at Ting's Kitchen ($8.95). I also got an order of General Tao Chicken ($10.95) for my husband, as it's one of his favourite dishes. Both dishes had some spicy heat to them. The Hunan Dumplings were in a thin peanut sauce and chili oil. I would have liked a slightly thicker peanut sauce and less chili oil, but I still really enjoyed it, and it wasn't too greasy/oily. The General Tao Chicken had onions, carrots, mushrooms and green peppers in it. It wasn't crispy, but still tasted good. The batter was not excessive and the meat was not gristley, so I was happy with this. The food overall I would rate 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 4 because service was good and I like supporting small local businesses. I called in my order and went to pick it up. I had requested no sesame seeds and they obliged. The lady on the phone was courteous and efficient. She said it would be ready in 30 minutes. I got there in 30 minutes and it was waiting for me. There's free parking in the plaza.
