I've recently fallen in love with green curry. I did forget to ask about the spice level (and I don't handle spice too well). My first bite, the spice immediately hit the back of my throat and I started to cough and tear up haha. I got over the spice eventually and enjoyed my dinner. The eggplant which I thought was a nice touch, could have been left out. There was absolutely no flavour and super mushy. The skin was too hard to chew. The host/waiter (same person) was super friendly and made our night that much better. It's a small restaurant, because of this I felt like my friend and I had to keep our noise level down. I decided to try out this restaurant tonight as I was craving Pad Thai. We had 3 dishes. We ordered the Fresh chicken spring rolls; Fresh green mango salad and chicken pad Thai. The star dish was the green mango salad...each bite delivered fresh fruit and vegetable flavors. The spring rolls were good and the peanut sauce for the rolls was crazy good. The pad Thai was average. I would definitely return to this restaurant, to have that fresh green mango salad. read more

Shrimp spring rolls were excellent, soup okay , red curry pork dish was tasty but we were left wondering why the 7 inch dish we received it in was only half full at a price of $18.95 is it too much to expect a full serving? Pad Tai with tofu was tasty but the noodles were way overcooked and clumpy. First time trying this place , maybe an off night for them based on previous reviews? At $78.56 for a take out dinner for two we expected better portions and better food! :( read more

Five stars for the express lunch menu. I only come here for lunch since work in the area. Chicken pad Thai with soup to start for $9 - can't go wrong! As others have mentioned service is fast and friendly, even when we are a group of 7. The staff and owners are very polite. Ambiance is clean and bright. There are plenty of choices on the lunch menu, all look good and under $10. read more

My husband and I went here recently for dinner on a Sunday night. They are not open for lunch on Sundays. The service was great and the food arrived really quickly. Unfortunately, the food was just ok, nothing spectacular. So we had the Pad Preow Warn Goong ($13) which was stir-fried shrimps and vegetables in a sweet and sour sauce, Pa Nang Beef Curry ($13) which was a red curry with coconut milk and peanuts, the Shrimp Pad Thai ($13) and a steamed rice ($2). The portions were relatively small, especially for the price. The sweet and sour shrimp was probably the best dish. The shrimp were a good size (probably 31/35) and there were maybe 5 or 6 shrimps in the dish. It also came with pineapple, tomatoes, carrots and cucumber. The sweet and sour sauce was tomato-based and a lot lighter and less sweet than traditional Chinese sweet and sour dishes. The Pa Nang Beef curry was just beef, no other vegetables and you didn't get that much beef. The curry was flavourful and the runny broth tasted good mixed in with the steamed rice. The Pad Thai was unremarkable. Not all that distinguishable from Pad Thais at other restaurants. The food was not overly salty or greasy which is good. Although everything was ok, it lacked any wow factor for me. I would return if I was with someone who wanted to go. The service was very warm and welcoming. And the decor inside is nice and cozy. The restaurant is in an unglamourous strip mall in Bell's Corners and is next door to a "spa" that has mirrored windows so you cannot see in from the outside. There is plenty of parking in the lot though, which is a plus. I personally prefer Sukhothai further down Robertson, although Sukhothai is a bit more expensive. However, all people's tastes are different, so Thai Flame is definitely worth a try, especially since the service is so nice and quick. read more

Went here with a friend who suggested it and raves about this restaurant. I personally like Thai restaurants and was skeptical about this place from the outside but inside is very nice and welcoming. We had green curry dish with chicken, Tom khai coconut soup and a special Thai dish that's deep fried pork bites All the dishes were really good the curry was a bit spicy for me and k love spicy good. Portions was a good size too I had to take some home to go. I would definitely recommendthia place if you're in the area :) Also the owner I presume comes to the tables and says hi to see if everything's good, thumbs up for great customer service! read more

Rarely am I so impressed by a restaurant. This place has only been open since October in a tiny strip mall off the beaten path through Bell's Corners. Google and Bing still can't find it, even with the address. It's at the intersection of Robertson and Stinson, beside Dan's Automotive. We went tonight on a whim for some Thai, and I'm glad we did. We started with fried fish cakes and cucumber sauce. They were homemade and terrific. They were soft and pillowy, not at all rubbery, and didn't have an overpowering fish flavour. The cucumber dipping sauce was unexpected but it was both spicy and cooling at the same time. It was followed by our salad and mains. We ordered a green papaya salad. It came loaded with peanuts and shrimp. The shrimp were steamed to perfection and were melt in your mouth delicious. The salad had just the right amount of heat. We shared mains and both were portioned very generously. The Pad Thai noodles were not served spicy, but that's probably because it's the first choice for people when getting used to Thai food. The flavour was the right blend of slightly sweet and sour and I could see the little bits of tamarind used to flavour it- the real deal! The noodles were light and not at all greasy. It was a very filling dish for a cold day. Ask your server for some hot sauce made in house to spice things up. Our server insisted we try it. We also had the richest red coconut chicken curry that I've ever had. It was loaded with strips of tender chicken and thick with coconut base. It was not overpoweringly spicy and it was worth every penny. Even though it was listed as individual dishes, the food was served family style in giant portions. We took home leftovers. The service was excellent and our server was super friendly. The food arrived very quickly and we weren't disappointed in the least. He saw that it was our first time at the restaurant and even gave my wife a beautiful elephant brooch. I wish I could give this restaurant more than five stars. This is easily the best restaurant in Bell's Corners and certainly the best Thai in Ottawa that I've ever had, and even better than the Nokham Thai on Richmond Road which is usually very busy. We'll be back. Hopefully we will see you there- this new restaurant will need you in order to succeed! read more

Got takeout from their dinner menu and got the curry and fried pork. The curry was watery, lacks flavour and came in a tiny styrofoam container that is a rip-off at 18$. The fried pork seems like something you would get from manchuwok. Avoid this place at all cost. I only came here because sukhothai down the street was closed. read more

The staff and service here is amazing. It is over the top and has been since it opened Oct 2012! You could not ask for more friendly and accommodating staff. With three young kids, we always feel welcome no matter how busy the restaurant is and even when our kids are being a little loud. The food, there is no words to describe the flavours they put together. Everything is mouth watering, even while I write this, I can not wait to enjoy my next bite. We have never and I mean never had a bad dish from here. We have been regulars since Norm and his family opened. The atmosphere is perfect for a couples night out or dinner with a large group. Walked in and we were immediately seated and served ice cold water, it as soo nice because it was a scorcher outside that day!. Once seated I was hit with this amazing aroma of different spices and food items, it was a sure sign of good things yet to come! We ordered and were served our meals shortly thereafter, the food was AMAZING! Not only would I go back, but I would recommend d this place to anyone who is a fan of thai food! Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable, and the staff were very courteous and kind. Not all Thai places in Ottawa will accommodate making food completely vegetarian (most have oyster sauce in their base), but this one did. Will definitely visit again. Excellent, authentic Thai food. We particularly loved the shrimp rolls and deep-fried tofu appetizers. There were four of us and all had been to Thailand. The food is amazing and worth every bite. I normally get the yellow curry with potatoes but everything I've tried is flavourful and delicious. The menu is quite different at lunch then dinner, definitely more to order for dinner but generally the mains are on both. The service is also outstanding. We decided to try this restaurant when it was still fairly new. It's hidden away, tucked into a strip mall in Bells Corners that now features a new Pakistani restaurant. At the time the restaurant was quite empty but we were glad we stayed for dinner. The Tom Kha Gai soup was excellent, fragrant and flavourful and in quite large portions (you do pay more here than in other restaurants). Their red curry preparations were spicy and savoury, not sweet, as it can be in other Thai establishments. On a later visit, and this time the restaurant was crowded with clients, we enjoyed their spicy mango salad and their deep fried fish (rainbow trout) that arrives crispy and whole to the table smothered in peppers and pineapple - sooo good! A wonderful restaurant! Great food, clean dining room, smiling waitresses - this place has got it all, and at affordable prices! Like most Thai restaurants, tofu and vegetables can substitute for meat/seafood for many of the curry and noodle dishes to make them more vegetarian-friendly. The red curry is always a delectable option, and watch how spicy you get it - the owners (who are Laotian) can really make it hot hot hot if you want! Their sticky rice is also very tasty, and complements the curries. Of course, there's always Pad Thai and other noodles dishes for those not in the mood for rice. Can add authentic Southeast Asian soups (many to choose from) or appetizers (such as seasoned fried tofu) to make it a combo. The dessert options include mango sticky rice, taro wrapped rice, and other tasty morsels. I haven't been for lunch or lunch combos, but the dining room is usually fairly quiet at dinner time. Parking is plentiful, or also on a bus route. Either way, if you're in this part of town, don't miss this hidden treasure! read more
