Hi, Update: I live in Sonoma and learned from the The Board of Accountancy say's that Ray's license expired in June 2023. As I said, he completed my taxes on paper, OR SOMEONE DID, but they were not turned in to the IRS. I still can't believe this happened. Something is going on. read more

Have been using Ray for 12 years, and never had any issues. But the last 3 years have been a nightmare. No communications sent all paperwork to him in beginning of March. Has completely ghosted us. Left 100 messages sent several E-mails and text him. no response. read more

I've utilized Ray for my tax return preparation for years. All was excellent until two year ago. (For prep of 2019 taxes) He had been ill I guess and everything was delayed. Since this was a one-off circumstance, I used him for 2020 as well. There were delays again but things got done. 2021 is on me...I should have known better!! I brought in everything, without making copies, to the new office with plenty of time before filing deadline. Now, three months later and I can't even get him to return my documents. Did he actually file the extension that he said he did??? Who knows. Contacting my attorney on this matter tomorrow if my documents aren't available when I go to the office at noon. I do understand that there is an ongoing health issue, for which I have empathy. However if someone isn't able to perform the duties for which they are hired then they should stop accepting jobs. read more

This guy worst ever lied and wouldn't returned my calls. Got me in trouble with the IRS and they placed a lean on all of my assets. Cost me 10000. Dollars in lawyer fees to straighten out. Don't know how the guy keeps his license. By the way you can't believe a word hos office girls says either. Despicable behavior super unprofessional. read more

Ray has done my taxes the last five years and of those times the first four years went very well. My situation is pretty simple and I felt he always handled the filing quickly and for a low price. This past year (2018 filing year) he misfiled me and I was surprised with a $1400 State tax bill at the end of 2019. I called Ray at least half a dozen times and sent emails and he as completely ignored each attempt (I have learned from other clients that this is a trend for him). I was hoping for some sort of an explanation or at least some advice from him as to how to proceed - I wasn't looking for him to pay the bill or anything (though reimbursing me to help offset my interest charges to the State would have been nice). I am sorry to leave a negative review for someone who was great most of the time, but his lack of communication when I needed him most leaves me no choice. read more

We have gone to Ray for many years and other than returning voice mails, have been pleased. This year is different, new office, no secretary and no sight of Ray. He is a fine gentleman but I cannot recommend his services. read more

Been a loyal customer of Ray's for almost 15 years. Received great service especially for the price. I realize 'something' is going on but he has cancelled 12 meeting in a row to include ones he's set up. Two were no shows, several, and almost all the remaining have been cancelled WITHIN THE HOUR. I had to take time off for work and it has cost me. his own staff stated they haven't seen him or can explain this actions. I've sent numerous emails, correspondence not to mention phone messages and all are ignored. I like Ray personally and get along great but this is an insult to my peace of mind. I 'supposidly' had three years of reworked IRS items for three separate years and I hired another attorney/CPA with POA to inquire: the IRS had zero idea what we were referring and no paperwork....I was told it was filed over three years ago. this is now a non entity and not a going concern. I wish him all the luck and a new life, but time to close this shop down. move on...BTW, please drop a line I'm looking for a new CPA read more

We have used Ray for several years. This year we sent our tax documents to Ray in early February. The finished returns were sent back to us within a week. We signed and returned the documents with payment for services rendered immediately. The check to Ray was promptly cashed. Now the IRS has no record of receiving our documents. We sent emails to Ray but have no response. We tried to call but voicemail is full. We sent a letter but have not heard back. We are getting worried! read more

Rays home address is 20930 Hyde Rd, Sonoma, off Napa Rd. I had to find his address to retrieve my paperwork. Go get your stuff and find someone else to do your taxes. I've been going to Ray for 20+ years. He use to be amazing. I don't know what's happened to him, but move on. He can't help you. read more

Looks like we are a victim of Ray Sullivan Jr. We have been a great customer to him for 15 years. We were referred to him when Robert Matheson closed his business. Anyway, we got an IRS audit in April 2019 for tax years 2017&2018. I copied Ray on it right away and he has been avoiding me since. I was able to get an appointment scheduled with his office as if recent (twice) and both appointments were canceled the day of, 2 hours before my appointments. So frustrating!!! Customer beware, Ray Sullivan CPA won't be there for you when you need him and if you don't believe this review, try and get a return call or email from him and you will see what I'm talking about. Two years in a row, it has become impossible to get any response from Ray during March and April: phone mailbox is full ("please hang up"), specific questions sent by email are not answered, and office is locked up. I was there leaving a note on his door when another returning client came by and had the same story. Our pounding on the door drew no response. He may be good at taxes, but he's horrible about customer service. read more

So, I had Ray complete my husbands and my taxes this past year. All seemed to go be going well until I received a bill in the mail from the FTB stating we owed more money (after I had already paid what I was told was due). I log on to the FTB website and view my taxes which were filed and find out that that DO NOT MATCH the ones that we had reviewed, agreed to, and signed. So, I contact Ray's office. I am unable to leave a VM because his "VM is full". I went by the office multiple times and no one is there. I emailed both of his email addresses, with no response. The amount owed is not a crazy amount but the fact that our taxes were filed WITHOUT our approval or review IS NOT OKAY. This is not okay when it comes to people who work hard for their money and pay for services to be done which are not done in an ethical way. DO NOT GO HERE. If you want to be able to speak with your tax professional and if you want explanations on your taxes, this is not the guy to go to. He needs to retire because he has clearly lost his touch. read more

Heard from the state and IRS that Ray never filed our 2020 taxes. We have a 2021 confirmation from him that he did file. Zero response from him after two months of trying. Now we're getting them redone at additional expense. So horribly dissapointed in Ray. read more

We really tried to make it work with Mr. Sullivan. Unfortunately, he never returned phone calls, never answered his emails or any other method of communication! Furthermore, we paid for services that were not fulfilled. . The only positive thing I can say is that his secretary is nice. Even to this day, I have never received all the information I needed to give to the new CPA. I do NOT recommend this CPA. read more

Ray has done our taxes for 15 years, and with great satisfaction. I came to look at reviews for Ray to see if other long time customers have been experiencing what we have, A complete lack of response. His lack of response started with us trying to reach him between 2018 & 2019 tax periods with some important questions. We inquired several times and we graciously followed up each time when we received no response, thinking he was on vacation, or taking a break between tax seasons, or worse, that he may be ill. But we never received any response from him....ever. Low and behold, we were contacted by his assistant to make our tax appointment for 2019 taxes, the day before our appointment, he cancelled. We were told to drop off our info. so the taxes could be done by Ray at home. Our taxes came back with at least one mistake, and we have been trying to contact him since to clarify, along with getting a number of questions answered. We requested a conference call, no response. We asked him to respond to our questions via email several times, no response. Clearly, whatever is going on with Ray Sullivan has gone beyond unprofessional conduct, regardless of the issues, he or a representative should be professional enough to let customers know he cannot serve them, so they can make other arrangements. I am writing this review so others, who are also being ignored by Ray, will know they are not alone. read more

Ray's been handling my business taxes for the past three years. This guy consistently saves me money. He finds all the exemptions. This year, my taxes were half what I was expecting. Yay Ray! read more
