This is the best coffee cafe I've discovered in Gulfport so far. It has a cute, cozy, almost bohemian vibe with plenty of seating, including comfy sofas where you can relax and enjoy your coffee. The indoor space is a bit small, but they make up for it with outdoor seating, and they even have live music at times. They offer pastries and other snacks, and I believe they also have vegan, gluten-free and non-dairy whipped cream. The staff is very helpful and friendly, which always makes a difference. The only downside was the wait time for my latte-it took longer than expected, especially since it wasn't overly busy. That said, the latte itself was hot, delicious and had the perfect amount of vanilla flavoring, so it was worth the wait. read more

If you ever want to try a unique, one-of-a-kind coffee shop that'll make your day, I recommend Sumitra. Inside it took me several minutes to assess what was going on with the decor. I spotted decor from Morocco & Spain combined with some nuggets of Judaism. Once I met the awesome owner Maurice, I was blessed with the colorful explanation for it all. I ordered an amaretto latte & it was good. It definitely was very low on amaretto flavor, so I'd encourage being a bit more benevolent with the flavoring. The service here is 10/10, but I haven't found my perfect coffee fix yet. I am particularly fond of sweet drinks, and this stuff is def more coffee than sweet. To each their own! I've been trying to cute the sweetness back a bit to get more coffee experience out of it, so I'm determined to find my favorite. I liked their Iced Chai a lot, and it had a nice spice kick to it that I'm not used to. I loved it! The menu is huge, and I really want to try their food soon. One of my happy places in Tampa Bay -- had been a while since I came (maybe 2 years?!). SO much joy to be back and know every detail I loved about it still stands. Staff still as lovely as ever. Beautifully made coffees and hot chocolates. Their Mayan cacao elixirs are still as strong, as flavorful as I remember. Got the chocolatte this time with the Mayan full spice blend and oat milk: PERFECT. I was worried maybe the oat milk wouldn't stand the heat, but it was still a beautifully creamy hot drink. I also decided to try food as their sesame chili shrimp croissant sounded unique and delicious. Croissant had that perfect flakyness and standout buttery flavor you expect of a great croissant. As for the filling, I was expecting a more intense, bolder flavor - it was still tasty, but I'd use more of that unique sauce/dressing in future batches so the unique sesame chili flavor can stand out against the strong buttery flavor of the croissant. The shrimps were big and perfectly cooked though, so no complains there! Ambiance ALWAYSSSS on point here. Gosh, PEACE. Peace to lightly chat, peace to work. You'll get the random louder type of customer at the counter, but they usually end up sitting outside. Otherwise, a beautiful Moroccan-style cafe interior with cushions, comfy couches, and gorgeous furniture. Light, easy-listening jazz at the right volume beautifully wraps up the ambiance of Sumitra. There's also outdoor seating, which is perfect for people watching. There's plenty of shade between the generous awning of the bldg. and large umbrellas on the other side of the sidewalk. RACIST AREA OF TOWN - MADE ME FEEL LIKE ROSA PARKS. I WAS FORCED TO GIVE UP MY SEAT TO A WHITE WOMAN. Racist, Inconsiderate owners & staff. I entered the coffee shop two days in a row, the first day I sat down for a bit, did some work for a few minutes, but I unfortunately had to leave quickly. I decided to return the next day so that I could have a proper experience. I needed to charge my devices to start my work and pay, so I started off by sitting on a couch and charging my dying phone & completely dead laptop. I could not pay without a charged device. Unfortunately, I had only sat for a few minutes before being asked to give up my seat to an older white woman. No one else in the room was asked to give up their seat, all the other customers were white, and there was plenty of room for the party to have sat elsewhere.But they wanted my seat, and there would be no debate. I chose to leave because of the awful way I was being spoken to, the owner was degrading me, disrespecting me, and saying he didnt care that I wanted to keep my seat and sit comfortably after hours of driving & sitting in my vehicle prior. I immediately had a PANIC ATTACK because of the way I was being treated.Then, a police officer came on my way out and sent me further into my panic attack. A poor stranger had to help me breath. NO ONE ELSE SAID ANYTHING OR HELPED AT ALL. EVERYONE IN THE SHOP WAS A BYSTANDER TO THIS HATE! This city & its residents do not care about colored people, and colored folk are not welcome. I have seen two black people after being here for 50+ hours If you cant tell from my picture, I am a Black woman. During this time, I am wearing my hair in a fro. During the entire experience, both inside & outside, customers & staff were looking at me with disgusted looks just for walking around, as if my appearance & presence was a huge inconvenience and bother to them. Would never support this town or any of their businesses after this experience, and will be making plenty of posts so other black and colored folk are aware of Gulfports bigotry. read more

I go here frequently. I love the variety of hot and cold drinks available, and the quality of the ingredients is top notch. The staff is friendly and helpful, and despite being very busy every time I've been here, they get the job done quickly. It's lovely inside, but I always sit outside with my service dog, and they have a lot of tables on the sidewalk under the trees. Very nice! I use this as a good meeting spot when I want to meet a friend for tea or coffee or a quick snack. Their lemon poppyseed gluten-free muffin is my favorite. SO delicious! Alrighty back at it again with a dessert review . You guys know I love my sweets so let's talk about this crumb cake. The texture is pretty unique I typically expect a more crunchy top but this was less than what I'm used to. The crumb cake also felt like it was made with either rice or corn flour, so you got some of the gluten free feel. The flavor was very vanilla like with a creamy aftertaste and overall a very delicious crumb cake . Highly recommended and the space is beautiful like something out of Europe . read more

My daughter recommend me this place and she was totally right about being very good. They have seating area inside and outside, and it's located in Gulfport downtown. It was such a beautiful place. With a wonderful vibe and extremely thoughtful customer service. The coffee that my daughter had was very good and then you have the option to add CBD. My cousin had a coffee latte and she liked it very much. I had an oatmeal cookie with CBD and it was delicious. The prices are a little high, or at least to me. You can park on the street at no cost. I don't even know where to begin...but here it goes Sumitra has been a second home for me for at least 2 years now. I found myself in Gulfport, after my divorce, caregiving and living with an elderly woman down the street from Sumitra. Being that I am ALL about energy and the woman I took care of was 88 years old with dementia and lived in fear. I found it very hard to be able to handle the energy in her home and in her company. It was so stagnant and heavy being that it had been the same for over 40 years. I gravitated towards sumitra because of ALL the feel good flowy energy cultivated by the owner, Maurice and the beautiful Goddesses that run the place. It ignited my soul and love for cacao and Not just any cacao, sacred ceremonial cacao blessed by shamans in Guatemala. As well as delicious crepes and coffee! Sumitra held me in love, honor and grace when I needed it the most. I was drained and tired and did not feel like myself working in such a lower environment than I'm used to. Maurice provided me and so many other worthy souls with a home that recharged my energy and helped me get through the experience I had created for myself. I would journal for hours and would lose time drawing, creating and connecting with the community. Sumitra provided me with delicious coffee, feel good energy/vibes and connection to the community I now find myself apart of. It's also where I met my now husband! As well as two of my now roommates! Sumitra, Maurice and the Goddesses, have supported me with way more than I could ever imagine. I trusted my intuition and found myself a home, friendships and a tribe I am so proud to call my family I am so grateful. Thank you Papa Smurf aka Maurice, a father to all. Behind the heavy, wood front doors I had no idea what I would find, but it turned out to be a new age-ish, warm, welcoming space. You order from the counter, and then take a seat anywhere. I had already had my morning coffee, so I was looking for something different, and they had the perfect option - sipping chocolate, in 3 ounce or 6 ounce sizes. The woman working the counter was very helpful and efficient, and in no time I had my slightly warm beverage in front of me. If you've never had sipping chocolate, it is essentially liquid chocolate, usually very rich in flavor and always amazing. I had the special of the day which was a touch spicy, and it was delicious. They had plenty of non-mainstream drinks and pastries available, like food items made with CBD, gluten free options, non-dairy whipped cream, etc. so if you have food restrictions, they probably have a treat just for you. read more

Was ordering food down the street and was told I could get great coffee here. It was freezing that day around 53 degrees give or take (hey, it's Florida after all!) Ordered a Café latte with oat milk, I believe it was 6 or 8oz. The coffee came out promptly and friendly service. Easily one of most favorite coffee spots. The coffee it's not out of the world but everything about this place is chill and relaxing. Pros: - solid coffee. The coffee is good, not bitter and the fancier drinks are all well made. An added bonus is that you can add CBD to any drink. Oh and they have champagne and other alcoholic beverages. - baked goods are a great accompaniment to the coffee. Some have CBD while others do not. From what we've tried, everything has had good flavor without being overly sweet. - the atmosphere, both inside and out, is incredibly relaxing. They often have live music and the overall vibe is great, exactly what I expect from Gulfport. - the service is good overall and the prices are reasonable. Cons: None. read more

We love this new, unique espresso lounge in the unique town of Gulfport! It fits in perfectly! We met Maurice, the owner, since he was asking about my Cuban Coffee Queen shirt from my favorite coffee shop in Key West. Anyway, they serve Clever Blend from an Italian-style roaster in Brooklyn. It's quite smooth yet complex. Maurice also told us they serve Cuban Coffee and Greek Coffee so we will have to try them next!
