The sneakers they made were extensions of their creativity! It was also so cool to hear the music they made and interesting that their songs matched their personalities! I popped into These Hands Maker's Collective this afternoon after having driven by it countless…read moretimes but also because I was trying to find a needlepoint kit that I thought they might carry (turns out they don't). Not sure why unwind.studio lists them as a Stockist but alas, it was great to finally have a reason to check this place out. It is a maker's collective so there are various forms of art available for purchase. But, also, they have a variety of classes that I am definitely going to explore their schedule because I am interested in the Dubai Chocolate Bar class and candle making, among others. Definitely a neat space and you can get some inspiration by checking out the crafts available for sale.

However, I did have a childhood in the inner city (of Detroit) so I can truly appreciate the charter of Saint Elmo Village... to be a community outreach program for urban children with artistic aspirations. They offer workshops in photo and painting for children living in the 'hood ... sweet! Needless to say, there are several lesser appealing options for idle kids so it's always nice to see community involvement. The festival this wknd was to celebrate its 40 years of operation. That's amazing when you think of it ... an artistic youth outreach program that has succeeded on its donations and volunteers. I've been bringing my son here for almost a year, he just turned 3. It's been really great for both of us. 2-5 is such a transitional time period full of all kinds of feelings. The teachers here really understand this age group and their needs. And the activities they do are so creative. Every day they are learning and creating, some days cooking. For Halloween they made their own costumes and presented a show for all the parents. They also learn letters and shapes and how to express feelings. And they always celebrate the kids birthdays. I have seen my son really blossom in this class. Most mornings he pops out of bed and names the teachers and some of his classmates, excited to go hang with everyone. It also has been wonderful for me to get a little time for myself. It's just the right amount of time, for me anyway. Can't recommend this place enough!

I had some questions regarding masks - my daughter is disabled and hard of hearing, she cannot wear one and neither can I as she partially reads lips to communicate with people. Needless to say these past years have been VERY difficult for us. Luckily Maital understood not only to our situation, but to laws and freedoms. She had no problem with us enjoying her space and being creative without masks. As we spoke I began to see that she stood for freedom and kindness. She said - If you want to or have to wear one, you're welcome in my business, If you don't want to or cannot wear one, you're welcome in my business. I was introduced to this place when a friend had their bday party here and I'm so grateful that they did. PG offers a variety of workshops. I've brought my boyfriend here twice, and we've already talked about bringing friends here when they visit from out of town. My recommendation if you do one of their 2hr workshops is to go in with a plan and design for what you want to make. You would be surprised by how quickly 2 hours goes. Use your time wisely.

I had so much fun the instructor Salima was very helpful and informative as I was really nervous how was I gonna make a mug, the whole experience was amazing I will be returning for another class.
