I popped into These Hands Maker's Collective this afternoon after having driven by it countless times but also because I was trying to find a needlepoint kit that I thought they might carry (turns out they don't). Not sure why unwind.studio lists them as a Stockist but alas, it was great to finally have a reason to check this place out. It is a maker's collective so there are various forms of art available for purchase. But, also, they have a variety of classes that I am definitely going to explore their schedule because I am interested in the Dubai Chocolate Bar class and candle making, among others. Definitely a neat space and you can get some inspiration by checking out the crafts available for sale. read more

Love this place! Great for gifts-- handmade wares (jewelry, paper goods, art, etc) + craft kits with everything you need to create your own work of art. Lots of classes/workshops. I took the paper flower wreath class which was SO FUN. The instructor was great. Ample high quality supplies (we're talking Paper Source, not Michael's...) The space is lovely. I purchased two seats for the disco camp vintage bottle perfume making class- one for myself and one for my sister on Saturday, July 8. I found street parking right away and stepped right in. The place was very welcoming and even had a resident tiny dog that was cute and energetic. This was a group class with about 14-15 people. The instructor made sure to make the experience fun and easy for everyone to understand and spent the next 30min explaining the basics of making perfumes. We got to pick our cute vintage perfume bottle and then had time to become familiar with the different scents. This was so fun to do since I don't think I fully knew what some items smelled like (e.g., musk and vetiver). After that, she explained how to combine different scents together to make the perfume of your choice that would combine well. There was a good amount of time allocated to figuring that out which I appreciated since it was the most fun part. Eventually, when we were ready we created our perfume mix! I look forward to more classes at this facility. I got to learn something new, tap into my creative and fun side, meet new people, and just enjoy the class. I took a basket crocheting class here and had the best time. The teachers and studio are friendly and inspiring, and cater to all experience levels. They have lots of art, kits, crafts and accessories for sale too. This is the ultimate self-care experience, or a great way to reconnect with friends and do something a little different. The art classes at this place are the coolest and cutest. My boyfriend and I just left the BEST Friday night terrarium-making class and we had the greatest time. Our instructor, Marisa was one of the best art instructors I've ever worked with. She was knowledgeable, talented, engaging, and really made this class the most fun I've had on a Friday night since I moved to LA. We made these very cute terrariums in these mushroom-glass jars. Tons of options, lots of decor and styles to choose from, and inspiration terrariums on display. I wasn't the only one who had a blast. Class was completely full and we all walked out of These Hands Maker's Collective with beautiful pieces for our homes. (I made one for my office desk). I asked when she would be teaching another plant arrangement course but she said she wasn't sure. Bummer! I would for sure come back for her classes alone. She didn't have an instagram either but I jumped on their email list to stay informed. We met the studio manager Camille and she was great. Incredibly helpful, talked to me about art/her art background and gave me reccomendations to cool museums and places to eat around town (I just moved here). We had an amazing night here and will for sure be back. Definitely check this place out and we're watching for more plant/floral arrangement classes. read more

Wow! I was so pleasantly surprised at my class I took here. I took the paper flowers class. The space is gorgeous, open and airy but in the cold weather of last week, was nice and cozy, I never felt too warm or too cold- a feat! They started the class offering tea and water. The tea I had was blackberry sage and was so good. The class was structured well, the group got along, the teacher was patient and lovely- and the outcome was 3 gorgeous paper flowers and a bulb vase! I can't wait to go back- and I've already started making my own flowers at home :) read more

I've taken 2 of Annie Brown's watercolor classes and they have been so amazing! My favorite was a pizza and paint party class she held on a Friday night where we painted a still life of our pizza plates :-) The studio is such a special place to meet likeminded people and get creative! Truly one of my favorite places! There is such a lovely sense of community here, it's one of those rare gems! I drove past it a few times since moving to LA and finally looked it up last summer - it was exactly what I was looking for and didn't even know! I've taken several of Annie's watercolor + colored pencil classes and it's reignited a creative spark in me I haven't had in years. I get so excited every time I sign up for a class, and their gift market last holiday was lovely! If I could take every single class offered here, I would. The beautiful storefront had caught my eye while running errands nearby before the grand opening and it felt fateful. Like this was exactly what I needed in my life. The opportunity to get out of my head, use my hands, and try something new! (Bonus, with something to take home that I actually create afterward!) Perusing their offerings online I signed up for the Hand-Crocheted Rug workshop on Sunday afternoon with the fabulous, kind, and talented Denise, who happens to be the business owner. The space is bright, beautiful, calming, and inspiring. Little thoughtful touches are everywhere, even in the restroom! I was generously welcomed and enjoyed perusing the shop before the craft began. Beautiful kits, jewelry, supplies for arts of all kinds, wall hangings, hand blown glass, you name it! The beauty was mesmerizing and I enjoyed reading about the local artists who created them all by hand. Now let me preface this by stating I have never picked up a crochet needle. I can sew on a button or patch a hole, but I am also just as likely to hot glue it in place or cut a hem with scissors and call it "distressed". But I was called to this knowing this beautiful masterpiece of cozy zen would only require my hands! A handful of lovely ladies around the table and I practiced starter knots and loops, gaining confidence with each try. Denise was patient and nurturing, giving each of us individualized advice and able to answer any questions, repeat, or offer help. It was lovely to have met such wonderful people, learn a new skill, challenge myself, and head home with an adorable piece of art for the house. I couldn't have asked for a lovelier afternoon, supporting a local business with heart and will definitely be back! They offer a variety of workshops, from huarache making to watercolor to chocolate tasting, and summer camps for kids too! read more

Im telling everyone about These Hands. And I mean... everyone!! This is a place I've only dreamed existed until now!! These hands offers art & sewing classes and a myriad of other crafts! And there's gorgeous merchandise from the artists in residence available at the front! I've taken one class at these hands and 2 classes from Moving Thread, the sewing studio at the back. My husband and I took Annie's watercolor travel class! It was a perfect gift for his birthday as we love to travel, one of our first conversations was about his study abroad experience and we love to do art together! The class consisted of bringing a photo from your own travels or somewhere you'd like to go and Annie showed us how to sketch and paint! She showed us a great way to do clouds and I love how our work came out! My classes at Moving Thread- a one day course where we made a gorgeous tote bag And then a 4 week course where we made a tote, zippered pouch and even pants! Lissa is an incredible teacher and I never thought within just a few classes, I'd be making pants that I wear as often as I possibly can!! I've since bought a sewing machine but am excited to come back for more classes. Cannot recommend enough! read more
