They've both had consistently positive experiences there, whether they had a small part or a bigger role in the play. Where I really notice their positive experiences is when the shows end. After each performance, all the young actors come out to a grassy area beside the theater to great their families. That's when I see my kids going up to various kids and staff members to get pictures taken and say a final goodbye. And that's where I see all the bonds that the kids have formed from this intense 2 week experience of putting a show together. To me, that's what it's all about. My son loves HMT so much that he asked to do an extra session instead of having a bigger birthday party for his 9th birthday. The kids really form nice bonds with the other kids and the staff through this shared experience. In my case, my kids have gone on to perform in musical theatre throughout the school year. And musical theatre has really enriched their lives. It all started at HMT.

I felt like I got to watch my daughter grow each day--she learned stage presence, vocal technique, and discipline as she rigorously memorized and practiced each of her songs and her (2) lines. Expect homework, because great shows require some extra practice. I was beyond impressed with how much all the kids achieved in just one week. Their final performance was truly remarkable. Talented and well-practiced performers, thoughtful camp leaders, student-designed program and decor, amazing costumes, and lots of learning. HMT isn't cheap, but it is incredible--one of the most memorable things my daughter did all summer. She finished the camp gleeful and confident, and 3 weeks later she keeps singing all the show songs at home regularly.

At the time, it was suggested multiple times that I was "confused," there was no further exploration as to what happened, and my parents were never told. I myself did not tell them as I was so ashamed after speaking up and having it dismissed. years later, I wrote the adult woman I had told about my experience trying to understand why nothing was done- she told me that she had brought up the issue with the director (and I think founder?) as well as other staff and it never went further than that. I wrote the director, and he said he has no knowledge of it? As a woman and mother now, I recognize the counselor who molested me was practiced and I do fear there were other campers who went through what I did :( I really, really just wish they had spoke to my family about what had happened so that there would have been accountability and hopefully it would have never happened to someone else at the least if it had, we (I) wouldn't have felt so alone. it took my years to enjoy backpacking and the outdoors again- it was so very hard to have such an experience in the most beautiful of places

Camp Unalayee is the most amazing summer camp EVER to exist!…read more The summer program at Unalayee is so amazing, not only because of the location (which is absolutely breathtaking) but also because the staff, returning and new campers each year create an amazing community. My parents brought me up to Camp Unalayee when I was six years old and from then on I was hooked. I've made life long friends and skills. I highly recommend this camp to any person young and mature.

The studio isn't convenient in terms of where we live, but we continue to go because our experience has been so good (we tried several other guitar teachers before landing here). At one point 3 little girls were crying and saying they were lost.The leader of the group not in sight nor taking charge. Growing up in girl scouts group tradition these type of matters didn't happen. Never was there a situation nor a person in sight. The people that were in charge of the group seemed very nice and caring. Maybe it is a training issue within the company. This event happened about a year ago. But, somehow posted today.

I had to pull them off immediately. As a working mom, believe me looking for back ups at the last minute was not fun. There is trash everywhere, kids are packed in a small, small backyard in 85 deg weather with no fan. There were 14 kids from 5 years to 16 years.If there is any kind of hazard like fire, there are no emergency procedures in place. The lady sits in a room by herself and knits with 2 dogs moving freely. On top of it, when I pointed out how dirty things were, she told me to get off her property. You cannot charge 500$ per child in the bay area and provide such awful experience. I am shocked parents are recommending this place. Although I can see how it might be relaxing,…read moreartistic and fire meant for teenaged children, it was really not an appropriate environment for a five-year-old. The teacher also seem to be uncomfortable with young children, and didn't really know how to make sure they would be comfortable in that environment. For example, one day my son ended up urinating in his pants, because he had never been shown where the bathroom was, and he thought it might be a better idea to just wait until Mommy got there. It's also cluttered and unclean. One day, as I was leaving, I stepped in dog feces. That being said, for a teenaged child, who knows how to navigate the world and take care of themselves around dogs and around adults who don't know how to help them, it may very well be pleasant environment for a relaxing artistic summer camp experience. I sort of got the feeling that the instructor used to be better able to handle a wider age range of children, but her tolerance may have changed over the years. In short, I don't recommend sending your child here if they're under 10 years of age.

Without family nearby, he tends to be shy around others, but he absolutely loves Teacher Sean's class. He lights up with the biggest smile during the songs! I've also discovered new music beyond what we hear at Library Storytime, which has been a great tool for distracting or calming him when needed.
