Parking around National Harbor is plentiful, though expect a bit of a hike through the hotel to reach the back corner where the Christmas Village and exhibit entrance are located. You can pay for parking at a small booth near the entrance, which keeps things straightforward. Before entering the exhibit itself, you pass through the Village area, which includes an ice slide attraction, Santa's workshop, and a retail shop. Entry requires a ticket--about $50 per person--so it's not cheap. Once inside, you follow a serpentine path with areas where you can touch real snow, plus a small display explaining how the exhibit was constructed. You're issued a blue overcoat before entering the main exhibit. Take it. Even with the coat, it's cold. Inside, it's about 7 degrees, and the rules are clear: do not touch the ice sculptures. This year's theme is The Polar Express, and the exhibit follows the story through several themed rooms that showcase the craftsmanship of the ice artisans. The detail is striking, and there are ice slides if you're brave enough. It's beautiful, very cold, and memorable--but your time inside is limited due to the cold temperature. When finished, you return the coat and exit back into the Village. Overall: very cool (pun intended), impressive, and worth seeing at least once. We also caught the Cirque: Spirit of Christmas show in the stunning atrium, and it was an absolute highlight of our visit! The production follows a sweet girl-dreaming theme with magical spirits guiding the story--perfect holiday vibes. The performers were phenomenal: from the ladder walker and high-wire artist to the incredible juggler (she stole the show for me--her skills and energy were out of this world!). Everything was packed into a surprisingly tight stage area, which made the precision and high-flying stunts even more impressive. It wasn't very crowded when we went, the show runs about 30-35 minutes (just right), and it felt well worth the ticket price. If you're at the Gaylord for ICE! or the holiday festivities, don't miss this--it's a dazzling, feel-good addition that left us smiling. Highly recommend!

First of all, you get timed tickets for entry, but that doesn't matter honestly, because you're probably going to wait an hour until you finally get into the ICE exhibit. You wait in the Gaylord hallway and then in the Christmas village where they finally scan your tickets, wait in the Gaylord hallway again, back into the village to get these parkas, before you finally go outside to go into the exhibit, which is so small and probably took around 10-15 minutes to go through. I spent more time in this line than the exhibit... The ice sculptures are cute and it's crazy to think someone made these, but it's not worth the money and time to wait in such a line for this! Not to mention some people don't have manners at times so it can get chaotic with taking photos and kids running around. Ice slide is not worth it. This place is not lying about being 9 degrees Fahrenheit so be prepared to be cold. Overpriced "merch" at the end of the exhibit with meh branding and overpriced ornaments and toys you can probably find somewhere else for cheaper.

However, I simply cannot give five stars at this time. Our group went to Markoff's on a Sunday night, which is clearly their slow night and least crowded night. But despite the fact that there were SIGNIFICANTLY less people than any other time we'd been in past years, we had to wait OVER TWO HOURS to be called for the trail. Then we had to wait approximately 20 more minutes to get to the trail entrance. We had anticipated being home from this adventure by 9pm, but now it is almost midnight and we are still en route. Unfortunately, multiple members of our group had to leave because they simply could not wait that long. Some folks had to bring their kids home and others had to relieve babysitters. We love you Markoff's, but really found this to be unacceptable.

The parking is very easy and accessible to the casino. The stores are fun and the restaurants look great. The atrium is beautiful and I was lucky enough that it was Lunar New Year themed when I visited. The rooms are quite nice and very clean, plus they are spacious. Bed is comfortable and the shower is great. Climate control worked well. It was an enjoyable stay and I would stay here again. The spa was fine, but more on that under separate cover. For food, I ate at the National Market (food court), from both Zizi's Pizza and Noodle Bar, both of which were fine, and I'd eat at again. I also ate at the Bellagio Patisserie, which was good--I liked my flatbread and latte for breakfast, along with my dessert. Room service was enjoyable, as I ordered a very delicious chicken tender and tots meal. I'm not a casino person but I do enjoy walking through one and MGM has a fun vibe. I was hoping to try Blossom during one visit, but it did not open in time. We had drinks in the lobby bar, which is well-appointed and lively with delicious cocktails and great service. We also had drinks at Osteria Costa, but service was not great. The website/app leaves much to be desired. I could not find all needed information and opening times for restaurants and stores were incorrect, which is bewildering and causes one to wonder what else management is overlooking. Staff is super friendly and helpful though, and I am looking forward to returning.

The conference itself was wonderful, but I was not a big fan of National Harbor. I didn't have a car, so I took the metro and bus to get to National Harbor. I walked around the area that afternoon, and it took less than two hours for me to see everything. This area is very commercial and planned, with little local flair or character. I see this mentioned in reviews from 2010-2011; well, it is still the case in 2026. The monument to our armed services was inspirational, and I found a wonderful Black-owned bookstore called Mahogany Books. But, most businesses were high-end chains. There's a pharmacy for basic needs, but most restaurants are expensive and no grocery stores are within walking distance. Thankfully, Potbelly is there for us plebes to grab a sandwich, and Mahogany Books serves delicious coffee drinks. I had plenty to do with the conference over the next three days, so it wasn't a boring trip. The bus service comes every 30 minutes or you can Uber/Lyft to a metro station like Alexandria and go into the city. On the second night of our conference, I ended up going into Alexandria with some friends, and we went to a local pizza restaurant. The next night, I visited a local Greek restaurant in Alexandria with other friends. If you're attending a conference here, do stay at a nearby hotel for convenience and also visit Mahogany Books. Otherwise, I would not spend much time at National Harbor.

Katsucon is for sure a great time waiting to happen!…read more This was my 2nd year going and just like the first, it was a real blast! If you are a cosplayer that's trying to get their foot in the door and make a name for themselves on the social media market, this a must go to convention! Reason being is the landscape and scenery has great locations for some amazing photoshoot spots both indoor and outdoor. Something to note is it can get a tad cramped at the con sometimes, but mostly just moving to different venues and not in it's entirety. For those note into the cosplay scene then never fear! Dealers room, game room and panels all hold up being intriguing places to pop up by. The only negative thing I can mention again is how cramped the con can be at times, so those with larger set cosplays or those with expensive cameras should watch their step.

Katsucon 2020 was overall a great experience with a variety of activities to experience. Some of…read morethe fun things you can do include shopping at the merchant's hall/artist alley, watching different types of shows (cosplay masquerade, street fashion show, AMV contests, etc) playing Japanese games in the video game room, attending different types of panels, and getting autographs from voice actors. The venue itself is great and there's an area with great lighting for cosplay photos. Katsucon seems to have more cosplayers than other cons because of the favorable lighting conditions and how the parking garages are fairly close by (less time suffering in the winter chill). I recommend downloading the Guidebook app as it's pretty convenient for organizing your schedule and provides maps of the convention center. Katsucon also implemented something new this year where they had pre-registrations available for "make your own plushie," a popular panel, and there was some space for walk-in waiting as well if you didn't pre-register. It was very convenient for us and it'd be great if they could further implement this system into other very popular panels. One major negative of Katsucon is how spotty the cell phone service is! There's no wifi to use for the convention and service is terrible almost everywhere, making it very difficult to text or call people. Another negative is that it can get very crowded, especially on Saturday. These cons should honestly take a leaf from Disneyworld's crowd control and have some staff on-site to help with directing traffic and organizing lines. However, Katsucon is nowhere near as terrible as Anime Expo (in California) is with their lines and crowds.
