My hairstylist recently moved out of state so I was in search of someone new. I had met Sierra at a networking event, and decided to give her a shot. I was a little hesitant because I live in Santa Barbara and the salon is in Summerland, but it turned out to be a way shorter drive than anticipated! Only 10 minutes from my office to the salon. The salon is gorgeous and has a beautiful view! Sierra is also amazing - she was able to provide me with a cut and highlight that I love! I was also able to schedule an appointment quickly (she offered an appointment within a week or two of me reaching out). Sierra brings a friendly and calming presence, and the 3 hour appointment flew by. If you are considering a new stylist, I definitely recommend Sierra at Summerland Salon & Spa! read more

I recently saw Amy for lip filler and let me tell you, I have NEVER been to a better person for lip filler. She is an absolute artist with her work. I've gotten lip filler multiple times at other places, salons, Drs offices and never had such amazing results. Amy is so sweet, she listened to exactly what I was wanting, she walked and talked me through the process and it was mostly painless. Instead of just poking and pushing she was very very artistic about where she was putting the filler, she gave me recommendations as to what would look best but also checked in with me multiple times and made sure that I was happy with the results. My lips look so natural but are now plump and full. I am so so happy and will recommend her to everyone I know looking for filler or Botox (she also has lots of other services). Now I know why. The year before I got married, I saw Kara several times to get the perfect, subtle, dimensional color on my dark Asian hair. It was beautiful! Fast forward several years and I totally cheated on Kara and went somewhere else to get my hair colored because it was a little cheaper. BAD IDEA. I tried to like it, but it was not at all what I wanted-ashy color in some spots, brassy orange in other spots. Kara worked her magic and got my hair close to my natural color and we'll have to correct this over time. LESSON LEARNED. I don't understand the two negative reviews-they both seem suspicious because my experience with Summerland Salon & Spa has been nothing but pleasant and professional. The Salon is light, airy, clean, the decor is beautiful. Everyone is so nice and they carry amazing products. Also, Kara is amazingly talented and super super sweet on top of that. I had booked an appointment online for a root boost and deep conditioning. Deep conditioning if done properly takes a significant amount of time. Keep in mind I've not had my hair done except for a quick trim at a outdoor barber during quarantine. I had barely sat down when Kera whom I had never been to before looked at my hair with disapproval and said I don't have time for that this.... this is a full color correction. Her energy and attitude could not have been worse. I then said well how about just a trim and conditioning? She stated she also didn't have time for that. At this point it was beyond obvious she didn't want my business her attitude was beyond disrespectful. So I said this isn't going to work and left. She had zero empathy and didn't even try to be accommodating. I found an another amazing stylist elsewhere who had zero issues doing a root boost ( without major color correction) only good thing about my visit was I was able to stop by the antique stores on my way home. I will give an extra star Because I have heard good things about Jonathan the gentleman there but after discussing my experience in my local moms group found out several others had had similar experiences with Kera and never returned. read more

My post is long so a preview is that they lack customer service skills, are bad at communication, and don't treat costumers with respect. Anyways..I've been going to this salon since around January. I work in media production, so my schedule can be kind of all over the place. That being the case, I have cancelled my appointments every once in awhile. 2 times I did it last minute, but then the rest I have been mindful of cancelling ahead of time so that the salon would have time to find another client. Recently I got a new job that had me starting on the day of my upcoming appointment. When I found this out I called immediately, which was 3 days ahead of the appointment (there cancellation policy is 48 hours). As usual no one answered and I got no call back. A day later an invoice for $450 dollars was sent to me because I broke there "cancellation policy". Which wasn't true. I have now called them and emailed them informing them of their mistake, and still... no response. Not only is this incredibly unprofessional, but I am stressed about this being unresolved. Personally I'm pretty offended. I've already found another salon in town that does the same work but cheaper, and I advise other people not to go to Summerland Salon and Spa. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to find this salon! I actually heard about it through word of mouth-even though I've been searching Yelp desperately for the past 2 years for someone that seems up to par with my current hair stylist who is based out of LA. Everyone I ended up stalking out on Yelp at the "best salons in Santa Barbara" just did not fit the bill. Kara-is exactly what I was looking for...she gave me an awesome cut-honestly probably my best cut in 31 years of life. I cannot wait to go back to have her do my color. The salon is so cute. Easy parking, beautiful views. The interior design is to die for-every detail from the furnishings to the hand mirrors. Kara at Summerland spa is a master at making your hair look natural whatever the cut. She specializes in wavy and curly hair But also cuts straight marvelously. I've never been able to find someone who can cut my hair but make it not look cut. She did an amazing job. I actually ended up cutting off about 12 inches of my hair. I've had hair down to my waist for most of my life and wanted to go extreme short but never trust anyone enough and I knew once I saw the work shit on my friends that she was the right one. I'm really happy with my new look and she was really accommodating if I were to need any adjustments after such a drastic change. I would recommend her To anyone who is looking for quality natural yet styled cut. She's also apparently a professional when it comes to dying and highlights. Again making it not look 'done'.
