Service is solid. Pretty casual. I haven't had a negative interaction here personally, but beyond sorry to hear about those who have. Not sure if the same owners who've been here since my first trips in back in 2013/2014 and again more recently, but it was nice to see a few things updated including the super fresh coat of green paint on the outside. We immensely enjoy their cold fridge where you can walk in. 2 only at a time inside (small space) though no one really adheres to it.. they always have the latest June shine (local craft kombucha) brand even on the release date when June shine runs out of their release beverage Summers still had some there when we happen to stop by. We live close by so we walk here often to grab snacks and since covid times they've stocked up more on market essentials and covid essentials like selling masks and medicine and dairy, milk ect. Owner is really enthused about beer and the others don't seem as into the store as owner is. Seems to be a lot of changes in ownership for this location I hope the current one is here to stay. I don't usually leave reviews but this place should have a five star rating. My partner and I got really into vermouth after a trip to Europe. At a fancy work event I asked the bartenders where I could find a great selection for my partner's birthday and after consulting with the most knowledgeable bartender they told me Summer's Market. It delivered 100%. When we run out we always make the trip to this specific store because none others compare. We have also always received amazing service from helpful and kind employees. Stopped in after dinner to grab a few goodies to rake back to our hotel since we've been buying overpriced market items at the Hyatt. This was a convenient stop near the restaurant before catching our Uber back. The outside doesn't look like much and this in lot a fancy liquor store but boy did they have a wide variety of products. I only thought we would get liquor but they had aisles of goodies, chips, candy, small food items, small to large cans and bottles of liquor, cigars, walk in freezer and very reasonable prices ( especially after seeing crazy hotel mark up prices). The store clerk was starting to mop the floors as we walked in which was a plus. I'm glad they had low price wine openers as well: for $50 we had two bags of stuff that was well worth it. read more

I'm pretty sure the owner of this place hates me. Almost every Sunday, I tie one on at Lei Lounge. I love that place, and since I live about 4 blocks away, I typically walk or ride my bike there. That being said, I feel it's OK to drink without judgment on the 7th day if I'm not going to be driving around. Whenever I head home, I find it necessary to stroll through this liquor store. Not because I need a new package of gum, not because I'm looking for a Mickey's Big Mouth, not because I'm in the need for teriyaki flavored beef jerky....because it makes me giggle to slightly annoy the clerk. Not criminal or anything, but when you walk in the door, it has THE MOST obnoxious alarm that goes off. You know, the "ding...dong" sorta thing when you walk into a convenience store. Welllll, at this particular location, they have a magazine rack right in the doorway...and as long as you're standing there, that alarm sounds and never ceases. Seriously, it's worse than the Emergency Broadcasting Service tests that stream across the television from time-to-time. I pretty much just stand there, reading those freebie magazines, until he gets mad and tells me to leave. It used to last about 30 seconds, now, his patience is much shorter. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-8 seconds. I don't know why I find so much pleasure doing this. Maybe it reminds me of my adolescence? I'm really not a jerk or anything...but this little activity makes me laugh. For being such an a-hole, I'm gonna hook him up with a good review, because it's actually a quality place to grab some cheap wines and mini-shots of Jose Cuervo. read more

Likewise it would be a misstatement to call it a convenience store, although it is quite convenient. Summer's is a liquor store. Summer's is like daycare for little Jack Daniels and the Grey Goose. While you are at work, Summer's gives them a place to hang out until you come to get them on the way home. Summer's keeps your beer cold for you, so you don't have to put the cans or bottles in the freezer for a quick chill. Summer's is where you go to resupply when you are at the bar next door, and all of your friends smoke all of your cigarettes. And Summer's is the place to go when despite your rational self, you decide to buy MEGA Millions lottery tickets. You know, those times when for no good reason you trade a rectangular green piece of paper with numbers on it for a square piece of white paper with numbers on it. I don't think I have laughed as hard as I did on Sunday, thanks to the owner of this store. Is he that funny? Not in his mind, but he is a total sucker for a joke and while I don't normally like Punk'n people, good God, it was too easy and too fun. From there, I leave and round 2 begins. Our other 2 friends were placed in the store and as they are leaving, one of them stands in the door way saying... "Wait, where are we meeting?" BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP "Huh? I can't hear you? Where?" Popped in after picking up take out down the street. I think of the word "summer" I think of warm feelings, beaches, and cool breezes. Well, the only warmnness I sensed was the fart the cashier ripped prior to me paying. The soda I bought was warm also out of their fridge. The only cold thing was the cashier's body language and attitude. There's also a fifty cent charge for using a card. On top of all that, the products in the store looked plain old. Okay 2 things: 1.How does Summer's have such a high rating?!?!? So puzzled on this one.... 2. How have I not written a review-my annoyance with this place continues to build every time I come here Unfortunately, this is the closest corner liquor/convenience store to my apartment. While it is nice to be able to walk 2 minutes to grab something without having to go to the grocery store, these products are old and dusty. I'm not kidding! There is a visible layer of dust on every product that they sell. I have seen many expired products as well! I'm not even going to get into the terrible florescent lighting, or the previously described HORRIBLE bell when you enter. I get mad every time I enter the store because of that stupid bell. I must sound so incredibly bitter, but it's only because I love my neighborhood, and I think it could do so much better. It's like an incredibly amazing, brilliant, hot girl dating a doofus. Kind of. I mean my husband bought band aids, and you could totally tell they were old. And of course the box was way dusty. I have to say though, the funniest moment is when I asked what kind of flavor was "arabic" because there was a pack of gum at the front counter that was labeled as arabic flavor. The owner couldn't really answer, he just looked at me dead pan, and said "arabic". I bought it out of guilt and curiosity, and it is one of the nastiest things I have ever tasted in my life. I go in a few times a month, but even with my mask on they know who I am and are always happy to strike up a conversation or help me find what I'm looking for, which is always fun given the crazy big selection of beer, wine and spirits they have. Watch out, BAD MILK!!!! I live in the neighborhood and apart from the rip-off on credit-card usage I am finding some of the food is either out of date or in-date but bad. I have purchased milk on three occasions and the milk has been off! The date is correct but the milk itself is bad. In the end I ended up opening the milk infront of the sales person, its the third time in two weeks and I had to mention this. So was drinking off a hangover at small bar one afternoon and ran out of smokes. Strolled over to this place and grabbed two packs of pall mall reds. $5.50/pack!!! Most stores charge $3.85 to $4/pack. New law lets stores set a minimum of $10 for credit card purchases so I decide to get 2 packs cause I didn't have cash. Rude old man behind counter says I charge you 50 cents to pay with credit card. I said the fuck you are. You are already ripping me on the smokes you better not charge a credit card fee he said I have to charge it to cover my fees, bull shit I said you more than covered your fees by the rip off prices in your store and by the way its ILLEGAL to charge me a fee to pay with a card (yes it is, look it up the CA civil code). I was about to leave and walk across the street to the other market and he said "Fine, I don't charge you THIS time" Well you old dust farting miserable fuck, you won't have to worry about next time as I will never be back in your store. read more
