We called Summers on a Sunday (the Sunday before Memorial Day). It was 90+ degrees and our air…read moreconditioner made a grounding noise and would no longer start. The company who installed our Carier unit isn't open on Sundays so I called Summers due to the positive Yelp reviews. The service call was $150 to come out and look at it - totally understandable. The service tech listened to my son explain what happened and where on the unit the sound was coming from and it was quickly diagnosed and working within 5 minutes. Great right! BEFORE the guy fixed it, my husband asked how much it would cost. The guy said $200. We looked up the part on-line and it was $10 so we figured $150 for the service call and $50 for the 5 minutes it took to diagnose and install the $10 part. The bill details read the following -》trip charge $49 + Dual Cap installed $190 + $159 comfort plan agreement for a whopping total of $398. $200 over the quoted price of $200 OR $50 over if you add the $200 + $150 trip charge. When I questioned the bill, the tech just kept telling me how great the comfort plan was and gave me zero option of not purchasing it. In essence, I purchased an agreement NO ONE told me I had to buy either before they came out or before they would repair it. I was the told the agreement included a 2 year warranty on the part and labor along with a free fall cleaning of the air conditioner, the furnace (that was just cleaned) and a water heater flush. I don't even own a water heater! I have a boiler. Frankly, I am leery of having them back to 'clean' anything because it will just lead to more hidden fees.

BEWARE. They have good reviews, but here is a breakdown of the one star. Would be negative one if…read morepossible. EDIT - They left trash behind. The bucket with all their unnecessary rebuild junk left next to the toilet. For those who have frustrations dealing with AI and auto-booking... they have an annoying robot who books appointments who cannot differentiate members from non-members. Took two phone calls and 6 minutes to connect to an actual human. The things meant to help are harming us. Pay people, not machines. Regarding machines, the plumber took a quick look and confirmed it was the fill value not doing the job. Something I told my mom I could fix easily with a part from ACE. He quoted $368 for a rebuild, which didn't need to be done. I replaced the flapper and chain about a 6 months prior. Not only is this an easy DYI fix with a $20 part, but he tossed the 6 month old flapper and chain. He tossed the work I just did. THIS DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE and it's insane to charge that much. It already costs members $69 to come out, and $368 is with the member discount. I am not the home owner, so I have no say so in approving the work. I have builder friends and my neighbor (HOA) agreed the price is insane. $437 to fix a $20 problem. This is 2026 and my mom is on a very limited fixed income. I spoke to Ben the manager, asked for a breakdown. If the up-charge was the parts or labor. He said there is no break down and that's what it costs. I could not have been more angry with these people. If you know nothing about plumbing, than learn. Because it ridiculous to be charged that much for something so easy to fix.
