I had been using this vet for about 14 years and In January I came home from work and shockingly found my dog deceased, I brought him in for cremation S I had pts/cremated several of my very old pets here. My first request was his paw print, explained to the staff I am hearing impaired and have poor near vision even with glasses and may need help checking off the boxes. They charged me an amount larger than Carlos would've charged me, and then left my dog in a garbage bag in their hall as people stepped over him. Two hours later, they finally put him in a freezer. I am a former but still certified animal control offer and worked in animal welfare since 2008. I even mentioned to them that Dr. Carlos would likely want to speak to me but they told me he won't see anyone. I was appalled but left after the staff decided they wouldn't give me any empathy. A month later I called to find out where my dogs ashes were. They told me they were there for weeks. When I went to pick them up, I found that they did not order his paw print for me. It was the first thing I asked for and the thing I really truly wanted most. When I spoke with the girl at the desk, she told me it was the crematories fault, so i called abbey Glenn and they confirmed that it was never ordered, offered me their condolences, and said they felt absolutely horrible for me. I grew up in Union City, and subsequently have been going to Carlos for about 10 years. While the wait is very long for routine visits, surgeries, and check ups, he truly does care about your animals AND charges incredible prices, and that's why he's so busy. I've read a few reviews about people being taken in after others arrived first-- but I think I can explain part of the reason why. I grew up with 3 pets over a span of 16 years, and when those animals started showing signs of sickness and suffering in their old age, I was devastated. After fully accessing and making sure that euthanasia was the right decision for each of those pets, Carlos would bump me to the front of the line because he does not want to see both the owner and pet suffer longer than they need to. He's even tried to give me senior pets a chance by providing them with daily fluids and different medications to see if they would improve even if their outlook didn't look so good. After my most recent visit with my cat of 16 years, he comforted me while I was in tears, made sure my cat was the least stressed out she could be, and prayed over us after we said goodbye. There were newborn puppies yipping nearby that he had just assisted birthing, and one of the assistants let me see them (not touch of course) and I was able to appreciate the beauty of the circle of life. I received both the ashes and the paw print imprint in just a few days. Carlos CARES. I will be taking in my new young cats to get their spay and will happily wait the long hours to receive the quality care that Carlos provides. RIP Oreo, Waka Waka and Temone. Literally hours after making an appointment for 1st time slot (the time they open) then find out the Dr come in 2 hours later then time scheduled and all walk-ins will be seen before you because they were there first and you have no guarantee of seeing this doctor that day then go for it. I'm not going to starve and dehydrate my pup all day waiting to see a Dr for a scheduled surgery. They do not pick up the phone, no way to confirm an appointment. The reviews do not lie... long long wait!!! But Dr carlos is good! So maybe worth it?! We drive from westchester, and most other patients will tell you the same, they come from far. The place opens at noon till 8pm which is great for after work people. The waiting room is pretty big, all dogs and animals in once place which can become a headache but what can you do. The staff is pretty nice, they seemed to be overworked though so it comes off as they are impatient. Prices are fair, but again wait the 5-6 hours for half of what you would pay else where?! Or make an appointment at the regular vet, be seen at your time and pay more?! Which ever you decide is best for you. Expect to wait a minimum of 2 hours anytime you go here. Dr. Carlos is very friendly and really know how to handle all breeds, sizes and temperaments of dogs. You will pay 1/3 of the cost of other vets but EXPECT TO WAIT! If you don't want to wait then go somewhere else and pay full price. I recommend signing in (give your name to the receptionist) and take you dog for a long, long walk or go run an errand (or five) and return. Make sure you ask the receptionist how long the wait will be so you can gauge when to come back. Although we had to make appointments, the staff didn't seem too concerned with keeping any of them. There was no communication with customers about wearing masks, and many entered the clinic without masks on. Multiple people were given the same appointment time, and some customers with later appointment times, who had just walked up, were seen before people who had been waiting for over 40 minutes with much earlier appointment times. After this disorganized experience, I wouldn't trust this business with trimming my pet's nails, let alone his healthcare. This vet is like a dog saint. He genuinely loves his job/career and cares for animals. He doesn't seem like he does it only for the money like many vets do. It seems like the wait is long only because he reasonably priced and prefers to take in more animals and charge at a more affordable price. Where do I start???? So my boyfriend bought me a puppy for my birthday. She is 3 months old so we had to go make sure she was caught up with her shots and that she didn't have parasites and fleas. This pet clinic is an emotional roller coaster ! You want to never go back but because he doctor is so kind and patient you can't help but to. Cons: The wait is long. VERY LONG. 5 hours long. My boyfriend and I got there at 6:30pm and didn't leave until 11:07pm. The people that come with their pets are iffy. The waiting area is tight and cramped ! Pros: THE DOCTOR IS AMAZING! I would plan to get there early, write my name on the list, and then ask for an approximation of my wait then return at that time. You can be the first in line and sign the sheet first, but you will get skipped by people who came in way after you and didn't even sign the sheet. Most likely his "5 star" reviews are from those V.I.P clients. Don't depend on the staff keeping you Informed either, if you ask how many people are in front of you they will tell you they don't know. They don't know ANYTHING actually. This is a SUPER-VET. The only negative aspect anyone could really comment is the waiting time for routine procedures. The fee he charges beats out most, by a long-shot. I've waited hours and hours there, because Dr. Carlos in my opinion cares like none other for his patients. But when Noodle's life was on the line, Dr. Carlos was there immediately and responded with life-saving care, without ANY WAIT! His priority was her life, he rushed me out the door to the waiting car without worrying about payment, and contacted me several times throughout the night, asking how she was doing. He cares about patients not profit. His prices are low and his care is phenomenal, who wouldn't ask for that. Ask for the Wifi code, bring a book, listen to some music. That's just the way his place works...But...If you have a real, life saving situation that needs action, I wouldn't want any other person. He'll be there to save that life because that's what he's all about. I've learned not to go there on Surgery Days, that's cut my wait for routine things. He's inexpensive, not cheap. I'm super upset with this place. My dog passed away on Monday. So, I took him to this vet to see if they could get him cremated. My mother took him in and they were charging us $100 to get him cremated but they keep the ashes; or $150 and we keep them. So, we decided to pay the $150. They told us he will be ready to pick up on Friday which is today. Well, on Monday my wife decides to call and spoke to Nicole she told her to please have an imprint of his paw as memory of him. Nicole said sure not a problem. We arrive today to pick up our dog. And my wife told the staff about his paw print. They said that they didn't know nothing about it. They supposedly went to check in the back". When they came back up front. Nicole herself said "they just must of slipped the information". Really? My wife then goes and states why wasn't my information taken down for his paw print?! All they kept saying there's nothing we can do. That's wrong cause its not your dog you don't care. The doctor and the staff don't care here. I'm super upset. And have the nerve to tell me that "there's nothing they could do about it because he's already in ashes". Horrible place. This place should be SHUTDOWN!!!!! read more

So definitely be prepared to wait here and show up as early as possible. Dr. Carlos has a LOT a patients all of the time and after speaking with him I completely understand why. He is one of those vets that would rather take a smaller pay day than let an animal suffer. A wonderful guy! That being said. I took my dog to a different vet two days before because over the weekend she was on an escalator and it lacerated her paw. The first vet told me that they should probably get an x-Ray to see if the bone was broken and that if the cuts didn't heal on their own in a week or so, that she may have to come back for sutures. They wanted $250 just for the x-rays which was pretty insane. After bandaging her up and starting her an antibiotics, they sent me home with a $150 bill. I then took Sophie to Dr.Carlos, I waited seven hours to see him. When we got the X-ray, it showed no broken bones thankfully, but when he took the bandage off and saw the laceration, he said he wasn't qualified to do surgery since he does not do ortho. He immediately called a third vet at lyndhurst animal hospital that specializes in orthopedics to reconstruct and stitch up her paw. He said the first vet that saw my dogs paw should not have let us leave in the condition she was in and that there was no way it would ever heal correctly on its own. Dr Carlos didn't charge me for the x-Ray and just sent me over to the other vet. I am very pleased with the situation as the third vet did a wonderful job reconstructing her paw! The third vet told me had I waited a week to Come back to the first vet that they probably would have no choice other than to amputate the toe because the tissue had started dying, and that even if they charged me $3,000 that it would have been a crap job since no one at that office was qualified to do something that complicated. She lost no tissue thankfully! And the way he stitched her up looks great! I was so impressed that I would have let me stitch me up had I needed it! That's Summit! It was a long wait, but worth it! Summit was one of the very few places still open; moreover, Dr. Triana kept the place open well past the time when they officially close, 8 pm, to provide service to all the pets. The line was huge, and he managed to spend time with everyone, with friendly and supportive attitude, while being knowledgeable and efficient. There aren't many new reviews which raises a red flag as far as i am concerned.... I recently brought a 2 1/2 year old French bulldog from a quintessential backyard breeder in East Orange. The two C-sections performed to deliver her large litters were performed by Dr Triana. I was told "the second surgery was difficult; to the point she was unable wean her own pups." Needless to say, despite the difficult surgery, she was not spayed at the time because perhaps she could be bred again. Thankfully, that was not her fate, and i adopted her and recently had her spayed; ending her days of a puppy-money-making machine. MY surgeon tried his best to diplomatic, but it was impossible. He simply said he had NEVER seen anything like this before, as this animal was completely wrought with adhesions and scar tissue throughout her entire abdominal cavity. Her uterus was plastered against her abdominal wall and organs. He is more than certain this is what has been causing not only her discomfort when being handled, but the greater issue of elevated liver enzymes due to the trauma within her body. Simply put - she was BUTCHERED. When i asked about her potential discomfort with her breathing due to her French-bulldog elongated palate, he told me not to worry, that that was NOTHING compared what this dog had endured. It all made sense given where i got her from. She is a gem, and i have truly saved her, but it all fits - for a breeder of this caliber to use a facility of the same. RUN don't walk away from this group. RESEARCH your breeders and don't let them convince you they know as much as they do - because they don't especially with the popular, in demand highly coveted expensive breeds. I didn't adopt this breeder placement - i saved her - thank god. Its a business all the way around, and all about money. BTW, can anyone confirm this doctor's credentials? I can't seem to locate anything about his training, background etc.?? If there is anything i can do to elevate this in the eyes of the medical community i will figure out how to do so. I am outraged and disgusted and this practice does not deserve represent the profession demonstrating the skills they do. read more

My cat JJ is 15 years old and has been to many vets Carlos is the only one he has not scratched or tried to bite.I live in Manhattan and have many options a friend that lives in New Jersey recommended Carlos and his staff.He truly cares about animals and their well being! He's knowledgeable and gentle with all the animals. The girls here are patient and sweet.The techs took very good care of JJ when he had to have an ultrasound they were gentle and soft spoken.When you get there you have to sign in.
