TLDR: John is amazing, caring, communicative, funny, and most of all trusting. Highly highly recommend him if you ever need a pet sitter. More details below on our experience. We recently adopted a second dog (Zuko!) and had an international vacation planned so it was the first time leaving him behind, of course we had some nerves. We called around and met with a couple boarding companies but ultimately decided to go with a private boarding option at someone's home, and we're so glad we did. From the first point of contact through final pick up - John was absolutely incredible. His communication was excellent and we always had some fun update waiting for us in our group chat with photos and videos. It was clear that Zuko had a fun, stimulating, relaxing, great time with John and his family. I can't say enough positive things about our experience. His home is very welcoming and as a bonus he has a private outdoor space in the back that's fenced, so we knew Zuko wasn't being cooped up inside somewhere for days without stimulation. If you're still reading this far I'll tell you how we knew John was the right fit. He scheduled a brief intro/meeting at his home with Zuko and within the first 3 minutes of being there Zuko was already feeling at home and at ease. He legit left my side and went to cuddle on John's lap, you would have thought he was John's dog. But the moment that got me was as I explained Zuko's trigger and how loud buses/trucks make him anxious and bark loudly, a truck and a schoolbus passed and John was so gentle with calming Zuko where he didn't even feel the need to bark.  Sometimes our dogs/pets just sense the good in people and feel at ease with them; Zuko was very much showing that trust in John. read more

I interviewed many dog walkers for my Aspen. He is currently 10 months Samoyed puppy and even so I am working from home, I wanted him to get used to someone else but me for when I will be back to the office. My dogs boarded for the first time with John and his family for a weekend. I took the dogs before my trip to meet them and for John to assess their temperament and personalities. If you have a puppy that's nervous and has never stayed anywhere, then I don't recommend this individual. We started off on the right foot, while I was away he told me my puppy was behaving great but would do his busIness inside the apartment and not outside which is obvious that he's nervous and doesn't know the area. It's understandable for a puppy to do that since he's never stayed anywhere else. As a professional who is "supposed" to know about handling these situations he pretty much gave up. He told me he can't stay with him for my next trip because of his "accidents, it was too much for him to handle since he doesn't have a backyard." My puppy went there trained. So if your dog is fully trained, has stayed elsewhere then this individual will work, if not you make the educated guess. read more
