I have worked with Tood and the crew of Summit Garden Services for a number of years now and found them to be friendly, efficient, and very professional. They have moved plants (including trees!), built retaining walls, built trestle fences, regraveled the driveway, done some heavy-duty weeding, helped fix a water feature...just to name a few things. Each task was managed and completed successfully with no issues. I am sorry one of the reviewers had a bad experience with their driveway. I, too, had them do mine with the same materials and I have to say that I am delighted with it. I occasionally track in some of the fines, but it's to be expected with that type of drive solution. We have been using Creative Gardens on the island with great success and we use them as our benchmark. We needed both landscaping and a re-gravel of our driveway and decided to give them a try since GC was booked. Our quote was without detail, but seemed in line with previous jobs of this nature. There was no breakdown of material or labor for either job and the final bill was sloppy....total the same, but jimmied to get to the original quote. The job.. Good crew of four, no lagging, good equipment ie small backhoe, skid steer, compactor,trailer and trucks. The landscape job. Took about half a day to remove two small trees ( one tipping over ) and one just ugly. The trees were replaced with one tree and a couple of bushes, ferns etc. Not too bad and in line with what we expected. On the way a gutter was smashed and a local company was contracted to repair at no charge to us. The driveway............and why the one star. I asked for 5/8 minus, no fines, similar to the existing driveway. Todd ( the Owner) said "I have a better gravel and guarantee you will like it"...ok. It arrived and it was small gravel with fines. The crew spread, the crew compacted, the crew lifted two decorative boxes attached to the garage and ripped the bottoms out because the plant ( hops ) had grown through the wood. The crew repaired it as best they could and it looked ok. The compactor did a great job and it looked great when they left. This was mid summer 2017. We used it, looked great, easy to clean up and folks told us it looked fine with our log house. Then it began to rain. First it was no problem. Then as winter progressed and we and others made turns in the flat area in front of the carport.......the rock broke down.....we had a slurry. It would dry, then get crushed some more, then rain then slurry. Its now second summer. Every time we have work done where contractor trucks come down to the flat area and they use water ( IE roof cleaning, pressure washing sidewalks) or we wash vehicles out comes the slurry and when workers work in it the stuff gets on decks, gets everywhere. We carry it into the car on our shoes.......I could go on and on! I sent a contact me to Summit and explained and heard not a peep. We have decided we cant live with this and will have to get rid of it and most likely blacktop, which in hindsight would have been a better decision in 2017. MY GRIPE...expensive and created more problems than solved ( and the final bill had no mention of material or labor.........just some trees and then the bill.) We contacted Todd after a neighbor recommended Summit Garden services. He came out and gave us an estimate of what he could do in order to remove all the over-grown bushes (30+). With the help of the tree company he recommended, Aloha Tree Service, the two companies went above and beyond to make our yard presentable and open up our beautiful view.
