I went to this liquor store on September 28, 2022, and found their prices somewhat high. I tried to charge my order and was told the system didn't work and I changed to another clerk. I called Summit on the same date when I received 2 notices on the charges... I was told the system would correct the error however, On October 24, 2022, I received my statement with both charges. I tried the phone number on Summit's Web site and received the message that the number was incorrect. Terrible waste of time, Stay AWAY from this Liquor Store! read more

I've been going here for 5 years myself now, my family more than 20 and we won't ever go again after meeting the owner...this store is TERRIBLY managed and stocked, same goes for the rest of that strip the owner owns. She pays no attention to her employees, she doesn't even know their first names....yet does all the hiring??? What..? Seems very careless about her business and her customers even more so. She doesn't even know them. She drives her fancy drop top all over town and doesn't even know the dedicated workers in her building that make that possible. She takes ZERO time to learn who her valued customers are, and ZERO care about who she employs. I will say I have little issues with the employees, but when she is there, I've never experienced such disrespect and utter disregard for any customer. New owners have come in so looking forward to meeting but it would be nice if they updated the store phone number so that you can contact them with questions on product availability and maybe phone ahead curbside orders. read more

I am not usually a Summit customer; I stop in maybe twice a year. When I buy beer, I go to Heritage in Maplewood. But this past Saturday night, I was in a hurry so I stopped at Summit. I grabbed a bottle of Dupont's holiday saison, a 4-pack of Tank 7 and Sam Smith's oatmeal stout. The first two are my favorites, the third being a treat for my husband. The guy at the counter says, "Not to sound sexist, but did someone tell you what to buy or did you pick that out yourself?" I couldn't believe it. Imagine having a favorite item -- any item, food, clothing, book, etc. -- and someone asking you if you had the balls/brains to buy that yourself, or if the opposite gender had to instruct you to buy it. I couldn't believe how insulting his question was, so I stammered out, "Actually, it's my favorite, thanks." and quickly paid and left. It's Monday morning and I'm still pissed. Here's the thing: Aside from the gross sexism of his question, it's representative of the kind of place Summit is. They remodeled recently, and in an effort to spruce up the place, covered a decades-old mural on the wall of the entryway (the mural was total 60s pop/folk art awesomeness), thereby destroying the store's single ounce of character. Now the store touts its craft beer selection. But this is what they don't get: A good beer selection begets fans of good beer. People with good taste. A good percentage of which are FEMALE. So don't be shocked when one of us actually walks over to your "good beer" cooler and picks something out all on our own. This is my local store. They've turned over most of their good staff and currently have a rotating crew that just doesn't know what is going on. I walked in one day, found a beer that was unmarked on the shelf, asked a price and was told it was "about 10.99" and told the other guy was working on pricing it as we spoke. Well, the other guy was playing solitaire on the Point of Sale computer and the guy I was talking to was eating a burger. Thanks for the effort guys. I came back in a few days later and the beer still wasn't priced. I walked in about a week later and there was STILL no price. Yeah, goofball was right on that. They do have a decent selection of craft beer, however year or two ago though they offered Mystery Bags of craft beer, much of which was unfortunately in some state of skunkiness. I never hesitate to buy Surly here though as it moves too fast to get old. My history here has been mixed, from not getting kegs I've ordered to the recent pricing debacle, but the staff has turned over so many times it is hard to say exactly who to blame. I wish they'd just hire someone who KNEW something. They do have a customer reward program thing, get 20 stamps for buying craft beer and get a $12 credit. That and proximity are pretty much the only reasons I still go here. read more

Deer Hunters!!! Do shop here!!! They are the reason that Flicker Meats will only process your deer if it has had the hide removed before you drop it off! They complained about the blood and smell. I think there is more to it since there is no blood involved in removing the hide. read more

My husband and I just moved to WBL and we love going to Summit Liquor. We are both craft beer enthusiasts and they have such a great selection. The staff has always been very friendly to us - even helping to carry things out to our car. We have been there more than a handful of times and always have a good experience. read more
