This church holds more to conservative Christian beliefs but that in no way means they are lacking in compassion. They have an interesting blend of worship with music and worshipful dance that is done by regular people who feel so led to worship in this way, and since the dance area is behind the seats it is not at all distracting if that isn't your thing. The worship service felt intimate and real. What drew me here was their Jesus Ministry Conference http://www.newhopechurch.com/jesusministry/conference/jmconference.html When you go to church a lot, like I have, I believe you become desensitized to the things taught. These simple truths in this conference really were eye opening and refreshing. How truth really does set you free. And how Jesus can empower you to make healthier choices for your life. That you in fact can make that choice because of the power of the cross, the realization that you have that choice, is where freedom is found. This is a church that if you have some church background and are looking for a place to serve and to know Jesus in a deeper and more meaningful way, this church, its staff, its people, are all very hungry for the same thing. I felt very welcome here. If you are new to church, it's not a bad place to check out. The pastoral staff is warm and genuine and so are the people. Again, they hold to a more fundamental Biblical view but that by no means, means they are lacking in compassion. This church was there when I needed some prayer and a kick start to my faith. And, well, God really spoke to me here. And when it comes down to a review of a church, that's all that should really matter. There are lots of places to worship God. But if you are interested in or are of the Christian faith and you are dealing with the same problems over and over and can't seem to get free of them or if you are lacking in your faith, the Jesus Ministry Conference has some practical tools to learn how to deepen your faith. Its more than happy feel good sermons. Its something you can use every day. I'll be going to a conference again the next time I am in the San Diego Area if the timing is right. And if you miss the conference, there is still much to be gained from attending services here. I know I will return to either a service or a conference myself my next trip here. I explored countless churches for over a year, even did church at home, before finding New Hope. I felt a genuine sense of acceptance and welcome. New Hope communicates to me that we are all God's workmanship and in process at multiple phases and appearances. The worship, teaching, and community align with my beliefs and I even felt that if I had a difference of opinion that I would still be welcome here to worship God in my own way. As a huge bonus my kids loved the kid church and even asked if they could come back tomorrow. This was a first from my kids. I recognize that not every church is a fit for everyone but I believe that New Hope is a transparent and authentic group of people who love God and welcome other people to love God with them.

For two years, I had great learning experiences and made many friends - one of whom with I still keep in touch. I told Joanie that I would be in town and that I would like to go to Mass with her. She invited me to her home parish: Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Situated on the corner of Stoney Creek Road and Carmel Mountain Road, Our Lady of Mount Carmel is surrounded by beautiful landscaping and has a wonderful view in a residential area! Inside, the church is stunning with modern decor, and highlighted with colorful stained glass and decorative tiles. The Baptismal Font and pool for full body immersion is impressive! Maintaining tradition, the choir led three songs in Latin, accompanied by organ music. Kneeling after singing "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Lamb Of God", we also knelt after receiving Holy Communication. Parishioners who wish to receive Communion on the tongue, kneel on the wooden kneeler in front of the priest. The rest of the congregation received Communion in the hands while standing up. Joanie showed me the special stained glass windows for certain Saints such as Mother Teresa. She also pointed out the bricks on the walkway that were engraved with donors' names. Before this church was built, parishioners would meet in the church hall for mass. Yes ... The social Hall was built first. Later, in 2013, the church was built. It was a pleasant experience and I wouldn't hesitate to return to such a wonderful environment!

The first time we stepped foot into GC2, we were immediately warmly welcomed by two church members. After service, people spent an hour talking with us & pouring into us. I looked at my husband & we both thought right away that it felt like home. 10 months in, it's just gotten better. I went there this morning for services and I have to say without a doubt the NICEST group of church…read morego-ers I've ever met. Period. It's a small church, maybe 30/40 people? Hard to count. The pastor is a kind man and his wife is a gem. I explained to them, and a few elders, I had never been to church before and they were very helpful to me. The service was well put together and the lady who sang was just superb. After service we had coffee and cookies... I mean who doesn't want coffee and cookies? I chatted with a few more people and then we had new member group. Again, very helpful. I never once felt like I was being judged; which I find amazing. I will definitely come back and I'd recommend this to all looking to find a nice church. ps services on Sunday from 09:30 to about 10:30. I recommend getting there 10 minutes early to get seated (and get a parking spot).
