This place is definitely a guilty pleasure. I come here when I'm craving some non-traditional sushi rolls and they more than deliver. When my girlfriend and I are done doing groceries we sometimes come here for an afternoon snack. We usually order one or two rolls and we're good.
Our favorite roll is probably the Spicy Caravan. It's a roll wrapped in torched salmon sashimi with tobiko on top and shrimp, I think, inside. The Seared Salmon and Tuna Roll is pretty good too.
The service is decent and the interiors and outside seating area are clean and well-kept. All in all, Sumo Sam's a good place for lunch, dinner, or a snack. If you're a hardcore Japanophile, don't expect traditional Japanese food. It's super Westernized (or Filipino-ized) stuff. Although sometimes, that's exactly what you want. read more
