The consumer.... don't waste your money unless you like throwing money away.

It's very difficult to actually get into the pool as an adult swimmer who just wants to swim some laps. I've been told it's due to staffing issues. They can't completely watch the entire big pool so if the pirate ship is open, then the lap lanes aren't open, which is super frustrating. Lap lanes should always be available for use any time any day since not everyone wants do a spin class or run on a treadmill. They've failed the adult swim community and 4 others agreed with me this morning as we sat in the luke warm steam room after we were kicked out of the pool for the 8:45a safety break. Just 45 minutes after opening swimmers are forced to stop their workouts. Not cool. They need to really address this downfall since $70/mo for one person isn't chump change.

This isn't the best gym on the planet. Honestly, it at first glance it comes off as a bit shabby,…read morebut really, it's Canon City. The city itself is not known for sparkling amenities, so the gym's general appearance isn't that out of place. I suppose it's because I've come from bigger, better towns with gyms that cost less per month, and offer newer equipment and more space that makes me feel not-quite-satisfied, but.. It's something I can live with. The gym has a small cardio area, with several treadmills and ellipticals. It's somewhat packed-feeling, simply because it's a smaller space, but generally, it's not too busy. There are peak hours during the late morning and afternoon that get busy, so it can feel a bit "smushed" if you try and hop on a treadmill between two people, but overall, it's not bad. The weight room also has the same tight feeling, especially when there are groups of people in there. There isn't an area for stretching (well, I take that back, there's a small square space near the door that can fit one or two yoga mats), but I know most people who take the time to stretch do it in the hardwood floor area in the next area over where the Zumba and Pilates classes are usually held. There is a decent selection of machines, and they're all in pretty good shape. There's usually not a lot of people using them, so the wait time is never that bad. There is a decent-sized pool, with mostly mineral water and a low percentage of chlorine. It is rarely crowded, even on open swim times, and is open until 11pm. There is also a sauna and tanning booth, though I don't use either myself, since I sweat enough for three people in the cardio room without a fan, and tanning is a physical impossibility. The office setup is kind of awkward. There's a desk located in the cardio/weight area, but there is rarely anyone there. To get the main office area, you have to go outside and head up the sidewalk area into the new "cafe" space. That is also where the classes for Pilates, Zumba, and some others are offered. The owners are both nice, open people, and very welcoming. Overall, it's a decent gym, especially for the area. Membership includes access to the cardio/weight areas, pool, sauna, tanning booth, and most of the classes, which is a good deal for the price of membership. Good deal for the area, and I'd recommend it.

Staff is friendly and helpful when you can find them (sometimes there is a crowd other times…read morethey're hard to find, even during staff hours). Equipment is a little crowded, but you have enough room to use it and to talk to a friend who is using neighboring equipment. This gym also offers Free Childcare M-Th while parents are at the gym. They have morning care as well as care in the afternoons from 3-8. This is great for moms wishing to work out or attend the classes. Offers classes (yoga, zumba, body toning etc) in mornings and evenings. Some classes can get full for the room, but the instructors are friendly and helpful and the classes are fun. Chose this gym over other in town because there is nicer staff (and more compared to other gym when toured), and the price is better for what is offered.
