The staff was very friendly but VERY UNORGANIZED. They have a sign in sheet they don't even use to keep track of who is first in line. Got there at opening on a SAT 8am. People standing all over the parking lot in the way of moving cars. Lines with no direction. Customers yelling at staff over all the confusion. At first I went to the one in Monterey Park. There was a HUGE line of people going out the door, as I had to push my way into this tiny office. I didn't know who was waiting in line, waiting to be called, or even who the staff was. There was yelling and complete chaos inside. I was told the wait could be 2 hours. This was my 2nd visit to the "Main Office" for Sun Labs, and my 1st since their relocation to Telstar in El Monte. EXCELLENT! I was there at 8am to beat the heat of the day, and was first in and attended to quickly. Great new location, dedicated easy parking, not busy! Apparently the actual lab facilities where samples are tested are also at this location. This is the 1st time and will be my last visit. I don't have any big medical issues because I'm still young, so I just followed what my doctor told me to do and did the annual blood test here. The lady I don't know the name but she was super rude and act like she is the expert on this field for many years. It is good to keep your professionalism but it doesn't mean you have to show your mean attitude to people. Doubted me and stopped my word and asked me to listen to her. I felt like I was a prisoner sit on that chair. If you have a hard time on your life, I'm sorry but that is NOT the reason that you should treat people like this!!! read more

I would give negative points if possible. I came here to get my lab done. One lab only. I paid the copay in person two weeks after the lab. This place keeps sending me bills afterwards. I called four times and came in person twice to resolve this issue. The answer they gave me each time is that they just updated the system no more bills will be sent to you. Guess what. Went on a Friday morning around 10:15AM to get my blood drawn. They had a little sign in sheet outside for blood test. There were a couple people ahead of me but the wait time was maybe 5 minutes. A staff member came outside and collected my blood test paper given by my doctor and asked for my ID and Insurance card. Really fast and polite. Went inside to do a urine sample, and was seated almost immediately to get my blood drawn. The staff who helped me was really nice and spoke with me to help me relax when getting the needle in. Overall really great! The only thing I noticed that was not good was the restroom - little to no ventilation in there so it smelled pretty bad. I had the worst covid testing experience here. When I arrived there was no one else waiting but they had me at a standstill anyway. Some of the employees joked and chatted together not really acknowledge me. The clinic was dirty and the young man who prepared my test kit did not wear gloves. This already made me very nervous but that wasn't even the worst part. He called for someone to come test me but they never arrived so he brought me outside. I have a suspicion he did not know what he was doing because he kept telling me to tilt my head back- mind you for the last two years I have been getting tested for work every week. I have never been asked to tilt my head back so much and combined with the shock of the pain of the test made me physically recoil and now my back is in real pain. It got to the point I started tearing up and he left the swab in my nostril for a very long time. I looked over at him and he told me in a condescending tone that I'm okay. This is not medical care. This is some sick experiment. They were not understaff, maybe instead of taking me outside with a rookie someone should have accompanied him to show him. Quite frankly not impressed with this place and I'm nervous that they have my personal information, and I wouldn't be surprised if they lost my test. And I really wouldn't be surprised if he was not a legitimate healthcare professional. That was truly the cruelest treatment I have ever received taking a covid test. read more

I am sooooooo glad I came to this location instead of the Arcadia location. Last year I went to the Arcadia location and it was horrible! Not clean, rude staff, no bathrooms, and extremely long wait time. I came to this location on Saturday morning about 10 am and there was no one there waiting. Just me! This facility is clean, has their own bathrooms, friendly staff, and most importantly...no wait time! This is the actual facility that all of the blood work gets sent to from other Sun Clinical Laboratories to be tested! Dee was my Phlebotomist. She is super sweet! It was completely painless. I was in and out in 10 minutes! This was the best blood drawing experience I had! read more

We did the COVID-19 test at the CVS drive through twice. They were so nice to guide you DIY step by step When we arrived at this lab this morning, it was a temporary tent, the nurse asked my wife to sit down, and insert the tube to my wife's noise without saying anything, very rude, very unprofessional. Needed to get blood work done as soon as possible over the weekend. The other locations were either not opened or closed already. I was about to give up when I found this place on Yelp AND they were open on a Saturday till 6PM. Small location and a few parking spots outside in the front. Customer service was great both over the phone and in person. I didn't wait long in the front. The technicians were very attentive and made sure I was alright throughout the whole process. I was in and out of place in about 20 minutes. Will definitely stop by here again if I need to blood tests in the future. read more

Hispanic lady working in the front tried to get me to pay co-payment for blood test covered by insurance. She tried to scare me into paying, by telling me that I will get charge for each test individually if I don't pay that day. My insurance verified that the tests requested were covered as part of my preventative care and that if I owe co-payment, that's what I will be billed, I won't be charged more. It's a shame, that these medical offices are trying to make extra income at the expense of the patients. read more

This place is a joke. Called them to request a Covid ( nucleic acid) test , they asked if it was for personal use or travel purposes (they offer same day result on nucleic acid and IgM antibody tests for people who needs to travel to china). I told them it wasn't for travel and I didn't need the IgM. They told me if it was not for travel I would have to wait for two days to get my result, while the travelers pay the same price for the swab test and get the result on the same day. How ridiculous! I understand you might be getting more business for doing the traveler's tests, but what about taking care of the people locally when they need help! read more

I had a good experience here. I went for a blood test and the entire staff was helpful and friendly. It was dead of winter and a bit cold in the office, but other than that it was a-ok. This spot was quick with no waiting, I went at 8am. I've been to a packed house at other labs at 8, so apparently this is a prime time, but not for this lab/location. I've been to another location on Garfield and the service wasn't great and the lines are usually long if you don't get there by 8 am. Decided to drive a little farther and try this location. I came in at 12 and waited around 5 minutes. The lady at the front desk was so kind as well as the lady who was drawing my blood. She was extremely gentle, and I'm extremely scared of needles. This is the best SunLab EVER. Believe me, I've been to all of them in the SGV. I have a 3 year old that required lab test since she was born every few months, the first year I was going to the labs in Arcadia and Monterey Park and they were terrible, long waits, didn't speak English, didn't know how to take an infants blood draw. Finally one lab told me go to their main lab in El Monte, it's new and they have experience techs for kids. I never looked back! This place is clean and fast, I've never had to wait longer than 10 mins and most days I'm called in less than 5 (I do go on weekdays). This is their main office meaning they actually run the tests in the back and deliver the results to your doctors office the next day. You can make an appointment too. They have multiple highly trained techs, like 90% of them were able to draw a screaming infant turned toddler vein on the first try. Plus they would always call in a 2nd tech to help and help guide me how to hold her so she doesn't move. I'd have to go in every 3 months and I would drive from far away just to get it done here. They have an actual front desk lady that runs things efficiently and speaks English. You'll know that's rare if you've been to other Sun Labs. I can't say enough good things about this place, it's been a lifesaver for my kid and my me, highly recommend. I went last week and they have COVID precautions as well, waiting chairs outside, screen between the patients and tech all wearing masks. Thank you to this lab! read more

Came here on the 5th for a blood test with mom and the actual blood draw was great. Quick and easy, no issues finding vein with minimal pain. She's the only reason this review isn't 1-star. 1. The lady who called me in for the blood test was older and had curly blonde hair was quite rude. I sat in the chair next to the hallway to the bathrooms, and there is only one hallway separating me from the blood draw room. I didn't hear her call my name and she had walked all the way to the receptionist table area before my mom informed her that it was for me, but the lady misunderstood and thought my mom was me. My mom clarified that it wasn't her but rather her daughter, me, and pointed to where I sat to which the lady turned to me and accused me with her eyes wide and brows raised "WHY DIDN'T YOU ANSWER ME WHEN I CALLED YOUR NAME????" Before I even had a chance to respond, another lady had walked up to her (this one had her back turned towards me) and very condescendingly said "It's okay. Let it go. SHE WAS TOO BUSY ON HER PHONE." I was fucking pissed at this point. I wasn't even listening to anything or even had earbuds in... had she spoken louder, I would've heard her considering she had to pass by in front of me and how it was so busy. But this wasn't the end of it unfortunately. 2. It was partially our fault for not double checking some of the demo info our doctor prefilled out on the form. However, the people who verified our insurance also should've double checked the information. The DOB was wrong on my form; the doctor had written my mom's on mine as well. We have given them our ID as well, so how could it be that two people who are obviously not the same age have the exact same DOB down to the year? Because of this, it led to another incident. The lady with the blonde hair had asked me to confirm my DOB to which she said it wasn't correct. She kept spouting HIPAA BS when we wanted to know what was on it. I've worked in clinics for a while so I know about HIPAA so she should've asked for all of the information from me and verified it herself. I know the name is correct as my mom and I were together, and she had already gotten her blood drawn as well as the fact that I had been called in. Eventually she showed me the form only to prove that the DOB was in fact wrong after she verified it was me, but she had folded it so it only showed the demographics. That was when I saw the DOB was my mom's. Had she gone about this more calmly, I wouldn't have been pissed. When I realized what had happened, I told my mom in Cantonese just to let her know that the doctor had wrote hers on it since they refused to let her look at it and I got scolded by the same lady for not speaking English! She kept emphasizing that it wasn't their fault, that they didn't write it. Then she gave my mom more shit when she asked for the DOB to be corrected until I stepped in to ask if I could correct it as they aren't allowed to change anything on the forms. Our PCP had recommended us this location as we didn't want to get an inexperienced person with blood draws, but I'd have to reconsider coming back all because of the unnecessary attitudes and stress! read more

I needed some testing done so my doctor sent me here for the lab work. So glad I came. Had not eaten or drank anything due to fasting for test. The receptionist was was friendly and very nice, the head office nurse made sure my insurance was accepted and the lady who drew blood; wow that woman was awesome!!!! Usually I'm in pain and hurting afterwards giving blood but it was painless, easy and made me feel at ease! Wow again. Sun Clinical Lab in the City of El Monte on Telstar was a pleasant visit! The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful being my first time. Likewise, it is the main lab where all the blood is delivered for examination. Usually I hate getting blood drawn because I really hate needles, but the lady who drew my blood was very pleasant and very caring by asking if I felt ok and that she wasn't hurting me. To be honest, it was so quick, painless, and in/out the place in no time. I use to go to Lab Corp in West Covina which I like as well, but this place is just as good. read more

Do not go here!!! Brought my poor baby in and they poke my baby 3 times and still wasn't able to get a successful blood drawn!!! Now they call us back that we have to come again to redo it and expose ourselves some more and put ourselves at risk during this pandemic because they lack the skill of getting a successful blood drawn after 3 tries!!! Consistent misdiagnoses and dirty restrooms along with phone number printed on their bags that does not work. If they say they are certified by Medicare and Medicaid, we need their quality improvement team to check out their certification or maybe intentional misdiagnoses jeopardizing patients' health. I would not recommend this diagnostic group even though most Chinese clinics in LA use this diagnostic group. Try using Quest Diagnostics which yield better and more accurate results. read more

Saturday hours are 8am to 6pm, i got here at 830am because i made the mistake of going to the Arcadia location first and there was an over hour wait there at 8am. I was in and out within 10 minutes at this Monterey Park location! The office is small but there isn't much people so no additional space is needed. The front desk is extremely fast and professional. I was at this Sun Lab (500 N. Garfield) on July 25, 2014, 8:00 am for a blood test. It was a Hispanic young lady who drew my blood and she was so RUDE. Started from tightening up the rubber band on my arm, she treated my arm like a piece of wood - with very heavy force (not exaggerating), then of course with the same manner as she poked the needle into my vein... What I wanted to advise is these lab technicians and as well as the owner of these labs, please treat your patients with heart. Owner of the Sun Lab, please observe your technicians closely. There are many good people out there who have license and good experience, waiting for an opportunity to work.
