I've been a little delayed in writing this review but wanted to tell my experience so others will not hesitate to use this flower shop. Back in March, a friend who lives in Buttonwillow CA, lost her rescue dog/companion of many many years. As one can imagine, she was completely devastated, so I wanted to try to do a little something to brighten her day in any way I could. I searched online for several days before Sun Country Flowers came up in my search engine. I was almost about to give up because I was finding very over-priced arrangements elsewhere, but mainly the establishments did not deliver to Buttonwillow. Just as I was losing hope, I went ahead & tried placing an online order (for same day delivery) with Sun Country Flowers. My phone rang a short while after I placed the order which I figured was them telling me they wouldn't be able to help me, yet again. To my surprise, the nice lady on the other end of the line called to inform me that they just didn't have all the colors as pictured online but asked if it would be okay if they could swap a few out & replace them with the other colors. I almost was jumping for joy as we spoke! I told her that would be perfectly fine & I expressed how completely grateful I felt to finally find a place that actually delivers to my friends area because I had been getting the runaround for several days & was so happy I came across their shop!! It truly was my last hope & I really did not want to give up. I can't remember her name but the woman told me she was the new owner & gave me a little background of the store & told me the areas they service there & also pointed out it's best, whenever possible, to use these local flower shops over the 1-800's as they just use the local flower shops anyhow... So the order was in progress but I realized later that I wasn't 100% certain that my friend was going to be home at the time of delivery so I called back & asked, if not too much trouble, could they maybe text me when the delivery was made. The owner said she would have her delivery person call her & that she would call me as soon as the flowers were delivered. And she did just that! Wonderful experience dealing with this flower shop!! My mother moved to Shafter a few years ago, and I like to send her flowers a couple times a year. I began using this local florist and I could not be any happier with their service and the beautiful and reasonably priced flower arrangements they make! Personal service every time! I get text messages with questions and special requests and a photo before it's delivered. Now that is service!! On Mother's Day I ordered late on Saturday, and orders had closed. Super rude place! I don't live in Shafter, but was ordering a sympathy plant arrangement for my grandparents because their daughter (my aunt) passed away suddenly. Sun Country called and told me they don't have it but can sub it with some other green plant? (I had chosen a plant arrangement). So, they cancelled my order per my request so I could go back online and look again. So, I chose something (almost double the price, total with all their added on fees is $115). They called and said they don't have some of the flowers in the arrangement and they could switch "blah blah with blah blah that are hot pink"-- (hot pink for sympathy??) Anyways, I don't know flower names or plants, personally not my thing. I asked her if it's their actual website I'm ordering from or is it a 3rd party one, she said it's their's but they can't guarantee what flowers they have. Then she rudely comments that had I told her this morning before she went to the market she could have gotten them for me. I responded, "Sorry, I didn't know somebody was going to pass away this morning!" And she says, "Well, ya so..." So, I told her just cancel it I will figure something else out. How is somebody irritated that you chose THEIR store to be the hands of feet of you to offer sympathy to your loved ones and they are annoyed. Annoyed that I purchased over $100 in flowers. C'mon, you are a flower shop that should specialize in not just providing flowers, but have the customer service skills and etiquette to handle sympathy issues in a sensitive way. After mentioning the tragic and sad death of my aunt, she had no sympathy to offer just wanted to move on with business. That's sad. I grew up in Shafter and had hoped that flower shop was still a good place to go. I'll make sure to pass on the word. read more

I have used Sun Country Flowers a few times and have found them to be good, but expensive. I live in Utah, and order my mom a corsage every year for Mother's Day. This year when I called, the price for a nice corsage went up by quite a bit. When I saw the picture of my Mom's corsage, I was disappointed. It didn't live up to past corsages and was way more expensive! The reason I'm giving them such a bad review, is because my Dad just passed away and I called them for a quote for a casket spray. They were WAY overpriced. My out-of-state cousin ordered a bouquet from them for my Dad, and the flowers looked half dead when we got it. I'm sure they paid a pretty penny for it, too! I needed to send my sister a birthday present and thought she would love some flowers. I called Sun Country Flowers at 11:00AM the day of her birthday and asked that they deliver the flowers on the same day. The flowers were delivered by 11:30AM. My sister immediately called and was super excited and grateful. The arrangement was beautiful and very very reasonable. After my distress of finding out that FTD had never delivered my flower order for a funeral service for a dear friend who had suddenly passed, I came across Sun Country Flowers. I explained what had happened to Carol. She was very empathetic and even though the store was about to close, Carol was kind enough to quickly assist me in putting together a beautiful floral plant display. She immediately delivered it so that my late friend's family was able to receive it before they left. I could not have done this without her help. I highly recommend Sun Country Flowers.
