Went after the sun went down but I can imagine the view during the daytime is absolutely unbelievable as the dining deck is high up and right on the beach. Tried it 3 times during our stay, first night food was good & ambience was nice, but second & third visits, service was severely lacking - had to get our own napkins, plates, waited 45+ min for a simple breakfast & the delay wasn't acknowledged by our server, the motz sticks app was 4 total on a bed of shredded lettuce - ridiculous. Staff seem to be stretched too thin. Not worth the money. read more

Let's start with being 100% real about what this place is...a beach spring break style dive bar. It's not going to win classiest or cleanest and shouldn't. It's fun. We were just drinking on this most recent visit. And it was good beach drinking! They have a nice assortment of your typical spring break style frozen drinks and buckets. I was pleasantly surprised to also find some good local craft beers. The bartenders and security man we interacted with were all very nice and accommodating. We had a few drinks and enjoyed the beach views. The people watching is great and the views of the beach are great. This restaurant is located on the 6th floor of the Lani Kai Resort. Parking is not free. The parking attendant, an older bald, heavy set man, is pretty gruff and does not appear to like his job. He was yelling at people constantly. He even yelled at our Lyft driver for wanting to drop us off closer to the elevator as I have a disability. We took a Lyft over here. In order to get to the restaurant part, you need to go up an old elevator that holds 6 people, go through a loud, rowdy bar and then you get to the outdoor seating. Even though we called early in the morning to reserve the swinging table next to the view, and were promised it, they said they did not receive our reservation and it was made for another indoor restaurant up there! So then we had to speak to the manager, 2 servers and finally after waiting for other diners to leave, we were able to get the table we requested in the morning. We ordered Crab Cakes, which tasted mediocre and Clam Strips with fries. Nothing special. Our main reason for going there was to catch the Sunset, which they advertise. And we did get to see it. Just don't expect much and you will be happy if you get the view tables. The entire place needs remodeling badly. No one was wearing a mask that we could see..neither staff nor customers. read more

Rooms were clean and roomy comfy beds. Food at sun deck was tasty order crab cakes,oysters fresh and meaty, calamari was nothing special rings from a box, peel and eats were small cooked well. Happy hour menu is a bit deceiving priced like you can mix and match but you need to order 12 . Bee sure to ask for special or happy hour menu it does not come automatically. If I hadn't ask I would have paid full price. Couple next to me ending up paying full price never seeing a happy hour menu. Don't be deterred by the fact that this restaurant is located inside of a hotel; just take the elevator up to the top floor! We decided to check it out during happy hour and were promptly seated outside on one of the gliders on the sun deck. Again, gorgeous views and an excellent location to watch the sunset/rise. Plus, you're covered by an awning in the event of mild rain. There was also a live band. The sun deck is the perfect place to spend an evening. My friends and I ordered a round of drinks which were very reasonably priced at happy hour prices. The happy hour food selection isn't too extensive but I took advantage of the 50 cent shrimp and ordered 12. They were fresh and quite good! Service was prompt and we loved the atmosphere. read more

The food is barely edible. My husband ordered the special of the day which was supposed to be the steam pot with a medley of seafood and instead got crab legs. The waitress was like, oh well. My fish tacos were inedible. The calamari was undercooked and cold. The restaurant has so much potential and an unknowing clientele or it would not be so busy. I ended up sending my meal back, I didn't even want to try something else and I definitely won't be back. What a wonderful experience! It's been many years since my hubby and I were here. The last time we were here it was and still his located atop of the Lani Kai Resort. Now it has been enclosed and they still have the glider tables located outside the restaurant portion. They do serve the glider tables too. What a variety of good. They still have the basket meals but now have a great selection of entrees desserts, and everything at very affordable prices. They still are experts with their tropical beverages. We took visiting family there for dinner. Wow! Everyone was more than satisfied! I got their world famous Rum Runner. Still the best! It was very refreshing and delicious! I ordered their beach burger basket. I added provolone cheese and had it cooked medium with fries. It was so juicy and delicious and HUGE! They do not skimp on portions! My hubby want to share their Reese's peanut butter pie. Barely able to share I was so full but of course, I made room for a few bites. So yummy glad I did. All in our party really enjoyed everything! We spent 7 days here on vacation and could not have been happier. We have stayed here several times over the last 20 years and it is better than ever. Amazing happy hour prices and the oysters were delicious! View at sunset is amazing. Best spot on the strip hands down. Met my wife at this place 30' years ago. Hasn't changed much and that's a good thing. The deck is fun! Live music, indoor and outdoor seating with fantastic views. The food is great for hungry teenagers and drinking adults. Came with a group of 8 with 4 teenage kids. Had a good representation with just about everything on the menu and no complaints. My blackened grouper was a highlight. My 17 year old crushed his pasta and my wife enjoyed her fish. Fantastic representation of what a Florida beach bar/restaurant should be. A classic! read more

Staff seem to have not wanted to be there on the Fourth of July weekend as there seems to be some tension all around from the waitress to the bartenders. You could see them bickering back and forth. Food came out incorrect and had to be sent back, no draft beers, ugh. Ordered the fried shrimp (good size, but wished they were fresher) and the beef burrito (sloppy and lacking flavor after they sent out the correct order). Pizza, ceviche, boom boom shrimp, coconut shrimp and spicy fish tacos. Our server was nice but I didnt like the fact that people can smoke outside. They should have a separate space for smoker and non smokers since the table next to us kept smoking. Which ruins the dinner for those that don't smoke... Been here once before and everything was consistent with my last visit. Food just Seems to be cheaply made the waitress even admitted that the onion rings are from Walmart. Cheese sticks were so big that we Couldn't eat them because we were chewing the cheese forever so we sent them back but the waitress didn't take it off the check. Didn't think I'd say this - Lani Kai (Sundeck) was great! My wife and I were invited last night during happy hour, runs 4 to 7, and we were pleasantly surprised. Well drinks were good and only $2.50, wings were terrific, large, nice and crispy, and cost 75 cents each, and we had a couple dozen oysters that were really clean, cold, and fresh for 9 bucks a dozen! Came here for boozy brunch before a day of beach fun, and it was just what we were looking for! Keep in mind, this isn't going to be a gourmet brunch if that's what you're looking for. Here, you'll get a solid portion of eggs or pancakes and some cheap drinks. I got the island skillet and a mimosa. The mimosas, screwdrivers, and bloody marys were only $2.50!! You really can't beat the price, and my mimosa definitely tasted like it had a generous pour of champagne in it. The island skillet was also the perfect meal to soak up what I anticipated to be a day full of alcohol lol. It was a hefty egg scramble with some veggies in it all topped with a rich sausage gravy with a nice stack of toast on the side. It was tasty, carby, and just what the doctor ordered.
