Searched for a dive bar as they are, in fact, my first love. Mostly Locals at this cool little joint . Everybody seems to know each other or at least the bartender knows many of them. Actually , nice local guy bought us each a beer just for chit-chatting with him. They Have No food on the menu so come here with only your thirst!! The place is open air and it's kind of dusty, dirty and dingy. I'd probably stick with the bottled beer and stay away from drafts as I'm doubting the glasses or the beer lines are cleaned out very often. Yes this was a tiki bar no its not on the beach. It is on US 41 close to our hotel and a very fun time. There was a mix of older folks like us and younger ones as well. We arrived in ample time to get a seat. It was a Tuesday night and it was boozy bingo night. It was packed and i guess on thursday they have hermit crab races. They have Bingo on Tuesdays and Hermit Crab Races on Thursday. There's no air or heirs about this place. It's a very casual bar to meet up with friends. The drinks were good and cheap. Also, they had free popcorn to pick at when we were hungry. It's dog friendly, but beware if you want to bring your dog. Our dog got attacked here once by another dog... My family and I live right across the street and we have been coming here for 2 and half years. Today was the first day we actually were shocked with our bartender. She has long blond curly hair and was wearing a SnapBack tonight (9/14). She was extremely rude to my entire family. My boyfriend (25) and I (24) are both bartenders and we're shocked with the way she was treating us. She had nothing to say while we were ordering drinks, left her a tip every single time and still made it seem like a problem when we kept going up and ordering. My mom went to redeem her pull tabs and she made my mom pull every little piece of paper off of the ticket. We have been playing pull tabs since I was 18 and I've never had that response from a bartender. We went up to the male bartender at the bar instead and he was shocked that she made us pull off the tabs and he was actually VERY kind. Always our first stop when we visit punta gorda. On this beautiful evening we captured photos of a dolphin very close to the harbor. Beautiful sight! I always have the grouper sandwich and fries. The burgers are famous. Quesadilla a fan favorite for our local friends we visit. The vibe is fun and even if you live there you feel like you are on vacation! They have Live bands too. Indoor bar if you so desire. A must stop in punta gorda. Reasonable and value to price appropriate. Good service but this recent visit with our group of six was a little slow. The bartenders are also quick and Johnny on the spot with the drinks. Along with that, the drinks are very reasonably priced which makes any college kid a happy camper. They have daily specials and every night is a different theme for whatever suits you. I especially love bingo night, it's not only free to play but you get multiple chances to win free drinks!
