BEWARE! I have had my jeep for 12 years and while I have had some problems, it has been pretty…read morereliable. That was until I brought it to On the Side. I brought it there less than 3 months ago to have them check out the whole car to see if there were any issues. They, of course, found some issues and charged me about $2000 to fix them (ball joints, tie rods, spark plugs etc.) This was after they were supposed to have fully checked the car. I had them do all their recommended fixes, which included fixing issues with the radiator that they said were needed. Well, that is where the issues started! About 1.5 weeks later, my clutch fails without any warning. My clutch has been fully reliable and solid up to that point, no signs of wearing out. So I go back and pay them about $1500 to fix that issue. Or course, maybe a coincidence that they did not find it during their checks. The car also had some issues with the gear going into reverse that were not fixed by the clutch replacement (they claimed they did not even find it after fixing the clutch), and their response was "well, that's just a jeep". (This was their first point not standing behind their repairs). A few weeks later I go to have the oil changed and they tell me that my car is a couple quarts low on oil. Shouldn't they found this on their review of the car? (I would think so, but when I brought this up with Angelo, he said "well, we didn't check the oil".) I brought it in for a full review and they did not check the oil!?! They had done almost $3500 of work including a work-up of the car and did not EVER check the oil? OK, I let that one go too, and then a some weeks later the radiator fails - cracks and fails completely! They had just worked on the radiator and did not see any issue that would lead to a total failure? And when I brought it to them, their answer was "radiators fail all the time... when it rains, it pours". Really? Maybe it should be better stated, when you bring your car to On the Side Automotive it pours. That was the last straw. I have had good and bad mechanics in the past. Good mechanics stand behind their work and never seem to generate new issues on the car after they work on it. Bad mechanics never stand behind their work and seem to, as if by magic, generate consistent repairs on a car. Angelo seems like a nice enough guy, but based on my experience, I would not trust him with an oil change unless you want a major repair in the near future. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I feel a lot of shame...

My hunting trip in northeast Colorado came to an early end last Sunday after looking into an…read moreunusual sound led me to realize my front right tire was barely hanging on by only two studs, the other three having snapped off. I quickly realized I wouldn't be driving anywhere, so got Geico on the phone and they started looking for tow/recovery companies. I was about 10 miles from the Colorado/Nebraska state line, so it took some time to track down a company to make the 150-mile drive out to some rural country roads south of Holyoke, but Spartan was able to provide a time estimate 1 hour quicker than any other provider. The three-hour estimate certainly wasn't quick, but seeing that I was three hours from them, it was by no means unreasonable. So I hunkered down with my hunting dog and our cooler full of snacks and drinks and watched the sun set while patiently awaiting our ride back into civilization. About a half-hour before our scheduled and eagerly anticipated 7:30pm pick-up, I got a call from Anthony of Spartan letting me know where he was and confirming my location. He said I could just drop a Google Maps pin and text it to him, which I did and got a confirmation he knew where I was and then another text when he was 10 mins out. When you've been waiting close to three hours to get un-stuck, those calls and messages are most welcome. Anthony arrived and quickly got my car loaded up onto the flatbed, taking good care of my car and never once was I concerned that it wasn't in good hands getting loaded up. The flatbed he showed up in was immaculate, not just new but clearly well cared for by Anthony who rightfully took pride in the great job he did. We hopped in the truck and began the three-hour drive back to the nearest Subaru dealer in Greeley. If you divided the world into people you'd want to spend three hours in a car with and those you'd rather not, Anthony certainly falls in the former group. We talked about hunting, fishing, how terrible the Broncos have been this year, swapped our best stories, and before we knew it we were at the Subaru dealership. He unloaded my car right into a spot outside of the service garage, filled out my paperwork, and by then my ride back home had arrived and I began the next leg of the journey back home. From start to finish, I couldn't be happier that Geico found a great company to come dig me out of a deep hole I'd dug myself out in the cornfields of northeast Colorado. Anthony was a true professional in how he handled communication and loading/unloading my car, while also being personable enough that I'd have no problem taking a three-hour ride with him again. Thank you Spartan for running a great business with great people (shout out to Anthony), and while I hope I don't need you to bail me out again, it's good to know that I already know who to call if I do!

Found ourselves in a precarious situation off-roading in Sand Hallow Utah. We were dead smack out…read morein the middle of the desert stuck in a hole. Got our rear end buried in the dirt. We called other recovery businesses and no one ever got back to us. After a while, I heard an off road vehicle and decided to hoof it. I saw off in the distance there were some ATV's and a tow truck. I went runnin'.Lo and behold it was Zack from Spartan Towing. God put him in the right place at the right time. Wasn't even working at the time and decided to come over and save us. Made great friends in the process. So thankful for them. Even got to witness him doing multiple recoveries over the weekend because the local guys weren't available. Great business and absolutely great people!
