I have been a member of STC since 2009 and have been to this location plenty of times before and always have had a good experience; however, this time was different. When I walked in I was greeting like usual and then I was told my birthday bash membership could not be renewed in August (it's April) and that I needed to renew it, she said do you want to do that today, and I said no, she then gives me a face (the I'm annoyed you didn't buy face) and says okay. Then asks me about my time in the bed, I say full time, she then suggests a lower time since I haven't been in in a while, I say no I have used the bed at the gym, again the face and an okay. Next she asks about my lotion, I say I don't have any with me but I'm good I have two bottles, she then tried to sell me single packets, I say no I'm good, and AGAIN the face with an okay. It was beyond obvious that she was annoyed that I wouldn't buy anything extra from her. I've never had a staff member as STC make me feel this way, and it really make me not want to visit this location again. I keep being disappointed by this location. It is very conveniently located, but the teenie boppers who work there are constantly annoyed whenever it gets busy. I'm sure it is frustrating, but I had to wait 30 min for the hydro massage and once it was finally about to be my turn they said it had gotten too late and I could only do 5 min. It was my second time tanning and unfortunately, they didn't tell me I should not do the full time (15 mins) in the Faster bed so I got fried to a crisp!! I had only tanned once before this and not in many years prior to the first session. I've been in a lot of pain and now I'm dealing with sunburn itch which is excruciating. Thank GOD I have my red light therapy device to help me heal or idk what I would have done. read more

I was so excited to tan for an upcoming special trip. I was told I was able to purchase a one month membership. However, when I was charged again the month after my trip, I called and I was told I would need to come in to the salon in order to cancel my membership and that my money would not be refunded for the additional month. The manager admitted that the membership I was sold was deceptive and that the employees are unclear in what they present. She said that all she could do is apologize. The manager is unable to refund my money even though I do not want to tan for an additional month. How does someone knowingly run a business based on deception and admit to customers that they are purposefully unclear? read more

Staff seem uninformed about their beds and general skin/tanning information; and they get a "pass" by having clients sign a waiver. Understandably, everyone is different and bed-to-bed is different - but, for a company that deals in skin...my husband and I were shocked by how little information they could give for simple questions. I burned to so badly I couldn't sleep for three nights, and it took two weeks of aloe/deep moisturizing before I could consider trying a bed again. Furthermore, they are such a sneaky business with deals that we can only assume are mean to confuse their clientele into just saying "yes" to something - and before you know it you're looking at spending hundreds of dollars for a month and a half of tanning. I was fed up with feeling like I was getting yanked around, and stepped outside to take a breather and look up other options. On principal, alone, I wanted to find another business. And glory be: Planet Fitness! Planet Fitness is straightforward, generous, and extremely affordable. You can tan, unlimited, for $25 per month. On top of that, you have access to all kinds of classes and equipment, etc. Even if you aren't into the gym, you can't beat that price. Plus, there is no squirrellin around tryna get your extra dollahs. Take your business, and your skin, elsewhere. read more

I can in about 4 days ago, & I'm really pale. I got a monthly package day prior. I came in for my second session, & wanted 7 mins in the fast bed, I got so burnt my c-section scar was inflamed. I came to the Nolensville road location today & told her I got burnt & she said "that's because you did 12 mins the other day" I was impaled!!!! Something needs to be done, I forgot the guys name but he was blonde & his name tag said something "director" . That is very dangerous! read more

The customer service was great but I paid $43 for a spray tan (which came with 2 complimentary lotions, one for boosting color and one for exfoliating, neither of which I will likely ever use). The results of my spray tan were awful. I used the barrier cream as directed and my hands are now orange, the tops of my legs are as pale as ever. Very thankful I did the spray tan for a beach trip and not a major event. Would have been better off going with an airbrush tan for the same price and far better results elsewhere. read more

After poorly explaining pricing and trying to oversell us packages and products, we opted for a basic spray tan. Every time I visit this location, I hope I don't have to check-in with the man with blonde hair. He is extremely condescending and uses the "shame tactic" to up-sell products. In 2009 I was going to Australia in March for a friend's wedding, I was warned by a friend there to 1) get a base tan, 2) bring enough lotion to block out the sun as I would turn into a dried prune. On the first piece of advice, I struck out for Sun Tan City to get a base tan. I joined for a month, explaining what my deal was - I needed to get enough faux sun so that when I arrived into Sydney I would not instantly turn to a beet-red mess and that I really had little interest in what I looked like. Put me in and let me get my sunburn out of the way. Every time I would go i was told of some new cream or product I could buy... did I want a spray tan today? No, I do not care what I looked like. Did I want a bronzing agent? No, I just needed to burn. Did I want to upgrade to Megatan? No. The upsells seemed to be what drove them there. I went back approx 20 times, I became a slightly less pasty looking IT guy, went to Australia, wore sunscreen 1 day and determined my friend was part vampire as the sun was not bothering me at all. When I came back I had discovered I sort of dug tanning in the morning, and every now and then they would have a Club Sun members get a tan for free for a week (club sun is the membership fee you paid up front which gives you access to the beds and then they try to entice you back every few months with specials). I discovered that during the free weeks, with Club Sun free tan week printed on their window, some times I would be told that they were not free if I was not currently in a plan, I would show them the email, point at the sign, or call the manager and get that taken care of. It happened so regularly I was pretty sure it was a cost-savings measure, each time I was instructed against the sign's or email's pretty darn clear wording to purchase a new membership, every time I ended up getting it free. during free tan weeks I would be turned away for being pinkish or looking burned I don't really go any more, it was an ok place and the nicest I have seen, but the prices were not enticing and the hassle for an advertised free event was annoying, and quite honestly the most I ever did was turn a slightly darker shade of pale. read more

It's a little pricey for their memberships that isn't the basic bed but this location has THE nicest, most helpful employees. I was doing the spray tan for the first time today ( they give you a free session when You join!) and one of the girls spent 15 min showing me the machine, giving me tips for the best outcome. I was so nervous and she did a great job answering my questions. My spray tan came out awesome. Not to mention the lotion They helped my pick out to use in the regular beds gives me amazing color! read more

I came in during the $5 spray tan promotion and added hydration. The store was very loud and I thought the girl said my total was $13, which I thought was a lot but I figured it was just because of the add on. When I checked my bank account that evening, I saw I was charged $32. I called the store the next day, and they admitted they overcharged me. They offered me a free spray tan, but when I asked for a refund they refused and said they couldn't. This is unacceptable seeing as it was their fault, it is a large corporation and they should be able to give a refund for their mistake that they even admitted to. Unacceptable read more

This is not my "home" sun tan city and thank GOD it isn't. I've had to stop here a couple different times for my spray tan and they ALWAYS get it wrong. I literally get the same tan every time and this location always manages to give me clear rather than tinted and forgets to give me my extra leg pass. Do not come to this location. read more

Terrible!!! The people are so rude! I understand policy and wouldn't argue it but to treat your customers with such a lack of courtesy is ridiculous. Explain the policies kindly and learn some professionalism. They're not consistent with policies either. They're not professional at all- Stefanie and the manager were so rude and unfriendly. Never going back to this place on the weekends. The staff were flustered, messy, and rude to their customers. After I checked in, I'm normally asked if I want a standing bed or flat bed. Not this time, I get whatever they chose. After waiting 15 minutes, I was told to go to room 12. As I was LAYING DOWN in the bed, I hit the start button 3 times before it turned on for 30seconds and then turned off. I had to get dressed, go back out to the lobby wait behind the endless line; only to be shouted at across the lobby that "You went to the wrong room! I said 10! You can go back to 12!" Having worked as a retail manager for 5 years multiple things about this scenario were completely wrong. First, the young woman should have come to me, not shouted out above the crowd of people in the lobby. Second, she should have never stated I was in the wrong, customer is always right, so you just needed to say "I fixed your room ma'am you can go back and enjoy your session". Third and final, I was still in a laying bed, not offered the standing bed after I asked. And then there wasn't an apology or even any comment when I left. If I see this woman working again, I will not return to this salon. read more

I am very disappointed. The plan was to get a spray tan and use their "first time free" coupon. About a week in advance we called in to express our concerns, about some questions we had. The woman on the phone was extremely nice and helpful, and told us that we did not have to have parental consent to get a spray tan. However when my friend and I went in to the store the woman at the desk told us was not the case. I just waited twenty minutes on an empty bed and had to leave because I had another appointment. The bed was vacant but not clean. One of the attendants cleaned it and then went back to the register to wait on someone else. This location is very well-maintained and the people working there are nice, but waiting for such a long time when they're only somewhat busy is annoying. I have a premium package that I would like to use. I understand that I should expect a wait, but this was excessive. I waited a while last time too. I'm not sure what the point of online check-in is or whether I will continue to visit this location/maintain my membership. read more

This is by far my favorite tanning salon in the area. I visit this location almost daily, and the customer service is out of this world. After taking my daughter to a babysitter, and arranged everything to go and get a tan, the lady told me she couldn't register me because I didn't have my "original" driver livense with me. I changed purses and only got my debit card and phone, but I still found a copy of it in my phone, that I always keep with me. The girls that work here are really great. Best customer service. The GH store always gave me problems, from everything to financial stuff (losing my CC information, inconsistent prices, double charging etc) to just attitude problems...not at this store. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They're great saleswomen, but not pushy. There are 2 girls in particular with dark hair there that I really like..one wears glasses usually and one has shoulder length hair. I need to get their names, cuz they deserve a big shout out. I think they are managers or shift leaders, but either way they are really cool..to the point where you feel like you're stopping in to see a friend vs run an errand. I do feel that the pricing is kinda high to just tan or spray weekly, but this is a corporation and not their fault. The parking lot here is a MADHOUSE so be careful..for real. Crazy drivers. I'm rating this a 2 star only because the employees were friendly, I have to give them that, but no more than 2 because of the actual tanning experience. Dropped by to get a last minute spray tan before leaving for out of town. I haven't been to a STC in about 4 years but thought for sure I could get a reasonable sunless tan. I won't go into detail with every single thing but one complaint is the fact that I wasn't told I could get the $4.99 deal (I guess it's a special to "tour the city") including a Spray Tan in that package. Instead I was Charged full price ($45) which did come with two free products..that's nice but I'll probably never use them. I go to the room to get ready for my tan, step into the booth and put my finger in the button to start it and it doesn't start after multiple tries. I then get out put everything back on so I can walk out and get help. The girl says "oh! Sometimes the lotion blocks the censor on the machine, you'll have to use your arm." REALLY!? That would've been nice to know before I went in and got ready for the tan. Keep in mind, I realize things happen and I would have never complained about this subject on here if it wasn't for a bad outcome. Anyway, at this point, I was distraught, as I had been back and forth trying to start the spray booth. When the spray starts (yes, this is totally my fault) I apparently skipped a step so I didn't get the full tan that I just paid $45 for! I tell a lady who appears to be maybe a manager, maybe not, but while taking full blame she kind of acted as if I was stupid and didn't even offer to help me in any way. Ok...whatever. I went home and paid a girl I happen to know that hand airbrushs, and she sprayed me at home because of being afraid it wasn't going to be even. I want you do know, thank goodness I did. I kept some clothes on when she hand brushed me and the places that I know I had sprayed correct in the booth a day later where still white as if the clear (progressing tan) didn't even develop. So not happy. $60+dollars later I'm NOT HAPPY the more I think about it. $45 dollars is a lot of money to throw down the drain and/ not have anyone offer to help me fix it! This will be my last time ever going back. Lesson learned. read more
