Before you sign up here read this. I signed up for basic bed on a monthly plan. The last 5 times I've come in "the bed" (I learned there is only one lay down basic bed) was in use and there would be 15-30 minute wait. Instead of just upgrading me to the next bed they said I could wait or pay more to upgrade. This feels like a classic "bait and switch" The ladies are really nice here but have been trained to sell instead of serve. Rip Off- paid for 8 minutes, got a little over 6. How do I know? I started my iPhone timer the same time as the bed. I did this twice. On both occasions the bed was faster than the phone by a considerable margin. I alerted the staff. They were of no help and patronizing. They wanted to offer more minutes or some kind of coupon. Then came the issue of trying to cancel the membership. Not coming back. Avoid or just finance your own bed or join some other place. read more

Me and a couple of my friends went into this salon for free spray tan week, and the employee we talked to told us that we could only receive a free light spray tan if we purchased a primer. We showed her the advertisement I have attached here, and she still said they could only do that if we purchased something and we couldn't do any add-ons either. She was very rude. We went to another sun tan city a few miles down the road (Morrell Rd) and they fully accommodated us with a great attitude and could not believe Turkey Creek sun tan city was not honoring that advertisement. read more

im frustrated I didn't read the reviews prior to signing up at this location. I had a similar issue as they would not honor. One of the coupons presented from their website. Therefore they talked me into signing up for a different deal. I was led to believe that I could sign up for their current promotion, and be able to use and buy extra points for future tans. However, I learned today that they would not honor that original agreement. They would only allow me to use up my extra points if I had maintained a membership. so all the money that I paid upfront, for the extra points were a waste. like other reviews, they would not honor their agreement. They are not upfront about what their signature means. My daughter was roped into their scheme and has been getting hit with a $100 debt every month since March. Unfortunately, she is locked in and cannot get out unless she pays the full price. She was in high school when this happened, and had just turned 18. A very HARD and EXPENSIVE lesson to learn. The staff was always nice and helpful. I am a medical student and was using a short-term contract service at Sun Tan City. I physically came in to cancel the ongoing portion of the contract, with my boyfriend as witness, and the cancellation was never put through. They have been making unauthorized charges on my debit card for months that I just noticed now. One of their lead customer service reps who even said that my refund claim will be denied because this "happens all the time," and they had "no evidence" of my verbal cancellation even though they did give me a receipt when I cancelled. This is not a reputable company. They think lightly of stealing your money. read more

I was thinking about getting a spray tan at a place in Knoxville, but then I came across Sun Tan City's coupon in Mint Magazine for a free spray tan and I figured they they were at least worth the shot. I should also mention that I'm relatively new to the Knoxville area and that I'm not really familiar with any of the tanning places around here. I noticed the coupon had expired just the other day, but I know that some places will accept expired coupons anyway, so I called last night and asked if they'd still accept the coupon, and they'd said yes. I stopped in on a Friday evening all ready to go and they said that they cannot honor the coupon. They said that I probably talked to corporate, and that there's nothing they can do to help me. I don't know why corporate would say yes if the place actually can't accept my coupon. What a waste of my time. They said I could get my first spray tan free on Sundays through Thursday or something, but that doesn't do me any good that I'm here now and they've completely wasted my time. I'm never coming here again. I'll check out the Elite Studios spray tanning instead, since they have a better deal going on right now. read more

If the sunless tanning is "not safe for children because it has chemicals that they can breath" but, is safe for adults, what the hell are you allowing us as "adults" to breath in??? The staff at the Parkside location are always outstanding. They know their beds, know their lotions and know how to put a smile on a customers face. The consultants considerably ask how my day is and always greet me with a smile. Every bed is its own peaceful moment in someone's day. I was not impressed and would not recommend them. My husband and I just wanted about 5 visits for a trip. They continued to try and sell us a package that we didn't need. I only agreed after I was promised I could cancel the subscription after the first month. I went in on March 3rd and cancelled both of our subscriptions. They cancelled mine but not my husbands. Because they did not give me a cancellation receipt, they would not refund us the $166 they took out again this month (we are paying for their incompetence). They gave me the run-around about calling customer service. Basically, wasted my time and frustrated us. We will not use them again and would not recommend them to anyone. They do not listen to your needs and try to up-sale you with products you won't use. I wish I had read the reviews before going there. Hopefully you will be smarter than us and go someplace else. The young lady who helped me today was super sweet and very helpful, very respectful and not pushy. But the young lady beside her helping a middle aged white woman needs to be taught professionalism. I overheard their conversation concerning "100 reasons that white nationalists don't exist" and "I have a house in Florida that I can go to and not have to wear a mask because the governor is actually smart and doesn't mandate it"..... these were words coming straight from the associate's mouth behind d the desk. I was worried about going here, a lot of tanning salons will have girls that are really rude or nose deep in their phones, but These girls are very knowledgeable about every bed in this salon! She gave me a tour around and told me what each bed did and what the best choice was for me. I also got a huge discount for signing up for a membership too! The memberships are affordable and the atmosphere is really kind. Your acknowledged the minute you walk in and when you walk out! I love how kind they are here, actually get to know you and ask about your day. Very knowledgeable on products too, they gave me the perfect lotion for my skin. Love the upgrades! Girl at desk told me it was only eligible to people who had never had a spray tan before but I had checked the coupon beforehand never saw anything about this restriction. The employees sit there and talk your head off and try to get you to buy overpriced lotions etc, regardless of whether there's a line going out the door or not. I waited with one person in front of me and about 10 behind me for 20 minutes. And then when I got up to the counter she tried selling me lotion I was just like I just want to tan please. I feel completely scammed. 0ver $50 in fees that aren't mentioned to new customers is terrible business! Especially for a business that doesn't even provide a paper copy of the contract! I expect these fees to be reimbursed and the clerk that signed up me and at least one other person to be educated about disclosing fees to customers instead of treating them like people to steal from! here's the companies shady response. I drove to the store 10 minutes later and asked for the $49 special and the lady looked at me like I was crazy. She told me they didn't have anything like that available and that it was a probably a "corporate deal" only (this location is a franchise). The only issues I have ever had with Suntan city are regarding cancellation of membership and money! It seems when I want to cancel, the gal upfront always says,well you really need to cancel on a certain date. Like the 30th of the month. I definitely don't like always feeling like they are going to say "you have to buy this" to get a spray tan. Or you really need to upgrade. I know they get pressured to meet sales goals, but it can get annoying. I had a really bad experience trying to cancel my membership & being able to use my remaining spray tans banked. I walked out because they said I was a "active member" in the system but still needed to pay $32 because my debit card had expired. I called customer service and they really were nice to help me. But in the end I had to pay the $32 to get my 2 sprays for this month. But they did allow me to be able to use my remaining 6 prepaid tans over the next few months without being a active member. So I am happy for that! When you shell out monthly and buy the upgrades & pre & post tan crap, (and sometimes I feel like my spray tans don't look as good or last as long when I buy all the extras!) it gets very annoying walking in knowing I've kept my end of the deal (I have given you my business and money on and off for years) but then to get told you can not "use your" spray tans really ticks me off! I have a small child and I don't get time alone often and I was looking forward to some me time .... so was not a happy! The girls are all nice and I know just doing their job, but the site manager had no more power to override anything than her front desk girls! I came in to get a spray tan last week and they wanted to charge me over $40.... FOR A SPRAY TAN!! I'm from Florida and I have NEVER PAID over $30 for a spray tan. And that's on the expensive end. When I went to LA and got a tan at a celeb spot it was still only $35. Please find other places to go ladies so this place can realize they can't rob people and charge unfair prices! read more

I was a little nervous about trying Sun Tan City out after reading the 1-star review, but to be honest I found it to be great. I went in with the Groupon, and they actually made me a deal that made a lot more sense because I had been planning to upgrade to a monthly unlimited plan anyway once the Groupon was done. Yes, they will try to upsell you, but that's the business model of any of these chain tanning bed places. Just be smart about it and don't be afraid to say, "No thanks." The salesperson I worked with (Amanda H.) was very understanding of me not wanting to buy a bunch of extra products, and she did not pressure me one single bit when I said no. In fact, she told me, "Hey, that's no problem at all. This is about making the best experience for you." I was very impressed by that. Not to mention they throw in all kinds of free upgrades when you sign up, which is a nice way to use the more expensive beds to boost your base tan. Once you have a good base there's really no reason to use the more expensive beds. And DO NOT buy tanning lotion from them. That's the only reason I docked them one star. All the lotions they sell in the store are available online for 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. Yes, they sell $25 lotions for like $80. It's crazy. But otherwise, I have been very impressed with Sun Tan City. (And yes, of course there is going to be a wait at peak hours. If you weren't expecting that, you must not have a job and know EVERYTHING has a wait from like 4-6 p.m.) read more

Went in and asked for a month membership for the faster bed, the lady working asked me to sign two forms and explained to me that one was just signing for my membership and the other was me signing stating that i'm over 16 and that was all. She even told me I could cancel my membership anytime this month but said that I could still tan for the month I paid for but that it would just cancel any payments after this month, well I went in to cancel it before the end of the month and I was told that I signed a six month contract and that I could not get out of it and would have to make payments for the next six months. Do not go to this sun tan city and if you do ask them to print and show you the documents you signed for because they will try to scam you! This is not the first time this has happened I have explained this to people I know and they have shared similar stories from this specific store. Will not be coming back to this store. read more
