Staff was phenomenal and help with various issues from a lost phone, missing remote, to dinner/bar recommendations. The restaurant is great and ample heaters for colder beach evenings. Despicable customer service from ALLIE the front desk manager. Our reservation was September 26-27, 2024. One day before the reservation, September 25, Florida received official declaration of Hurricane Helene. My White Coat Ceremony in Ft Lauderdale was also cancelled due to the hurricane. I called and spoke with Allie and asked if the hotel was allowing cancellations in regards to the hurricane. Allie said "No. The cancellation window has passed and the hurricane is not likely to affect their hotel location. Other guests have already called the hotel about their flights being affected, so you are not the first person." A few hours after the phone call, Ft Lauderdale mandated that schools were closed Sep 26 and 27, the city is now under a tropical storm watch and tornado, with expected hurricane and possible closing of beaches. Please help me understand the lack of consideration for the safety of their guests and employees. Allie went on to tell me the only option she can offer is to move the reservation to a future date but that would make the reservation non-refundable and that she can only move the date one time. My response to this: the reservation is already non-refundable so really you are only giving me a date change. But how can I give you a date when I do not know what the conditions will be after the hurricane and you require that I give you the new date right now. I decided to go forward with the reservation when Tampa received mandatory evacuation. When we arrived at 3pm, it was torrential downpour at the hotel and their amenities were closed: no beach chairs, no towel service, signs in our room telling us to keep the patio doors closed. The city had patrol cars on the beach telling people to get out of the water. So again, tell me are these safe conditions for a beachfront hotel and should the hotel have responded better to the situation by allowing guests more flexibility to move their reservation dates? Allie even told me that the hotel is offering no resort fees this week "to sell out rooms for the season". It gives the impression of profit focused. Unacceptable, considering their actions during Hurricane Helene. I have received much better customer service from other hotels in the past during situations like this where they have gone above and beyond to move reservations including giving a full refund past the cancellation window! read more

My second stay at Sun Tower, first was last year. They are consistently nice, rooms generous and bed comfortable. I had a nice king room. All their rooms face the ocean, on the beach and as a smaller hotel, I love it! Their restaurant patio is a perfect complement to the ambience being on the ocean brings. This is my first time staying in a boutique hotel. Located right on a Fort Lauderdale beach, this is a cute and efficient place to stay for a quick beach getaway vacation. Rooms were spacious (and clean!), and the beds comfortable - I was informed that the rooms were recently renovated. The body wash, shampoo, conditioner and bar soap provided were actually quite nice! I was pleasantly surprised. The beach access is the best part about this stay, being approximately 10 feet away from the room/elevator. The morning view I woke up to made me truly feel like I was on vacation. My review would be a glowing 5 star review had we stayed under different circumstances. Unfortunately Hurricane Helene swept through the west coast of Florida, for which south Florida also received some winds and intense rain from the outer bands. Management was NOT issuing refunds, stating the cancellation window had already passed and that the hurricane would not be affecting the hotel too much (if at all). They offered to reschedule our stay only once, but we had to choose the date right there and then - we did not know our schedule so far in advance to be able to plan our next stay. During our stay, not only was the beach very windy (to the point where the sand was stinging our bodies), police patrols were out and about forcing people off the beach due to unsafe weather conditions. The pool amenity was also closed to us due to the presence of thunder and lightning. So at the end of our visit I am still unsure why we were charged the amenities fee when none of that was accessible to us - and when we questioned the charge, it was non-negotiable. Even our parking fee was still applied. The next morning, the hurricane for the most part was up north. We were able to enjoy only about 2 hours worth of the bench (hence my morning view picture) before having to check out and head back home. The reason I am most upset about all of this is yes, the hotel couldn't control this weather. But they were in complete control in being able to waive their fees given these circumstances, especially considering they wouldn't issue any refunds or were being difficult in rescheduling our stay. I would be willing to visit again, but I would be very nervous right up until my stay knowing accommodations will be limited if the weather decides to change last minute. read more

I was stuck in the Atlanta airport for two days on March 16-17, 20025 and did not make it for my reservation and when I got in I was charged for two nights one of which I didn't make and the room was empty and the rate on the second night was $100 higher than my booked rate. the front desk night manager lied and said I would not pay for the missed night and the customer service at the front desk the next day was sorry she was wrong and pay a full two nights, no sorry we will discount you at the least. It's not a 5-star hotel and doesn't claim to be, but when we go to the beach, we're looking for a 5-star experience more than a 5-star hotel. The Sun Tower Hotel and Suites is right on the beach, between Sunrise Blvd and Oakland Park. Very nice location and close to Lauderdale by the Sea, Wilton Manors, Las Olas, etc. This is a boutique hotel with about 23 guest rooms. We stayed in a King Oceanfront Suite with an ample seating area, nice kitchen, large windows with full solar shade curtains that allow for great shade from the Eastern facing brightness. The balcony was a bit small, but enough for two chairs and a little side table. The king side bed was comfortable and they had extra pillows in the closet, which I took advantage of. The full size fridge was a great plus...we went to the grocery store and got a bunch of stuff that we kept for our week long stay. There's a coffee maker, a microwave oven, but not stove. We were lucky that every time we arrived at the hotel, we found parking spaces available. $10/day. Our suite (504) had two TV sets, two remotes, two individual AC/Heat units (both very loud and a bit noisy), a sofa bed, two chairs and a dining room set for 4. It was nice to have a door between the bedroom and the seating area. The sofa was not extremely comfortable, a bit stiff, maybe some nice accent pillows would help. There were plenty of electric outlets to charge your phone or laptop...very nice touch. Being a corner unit, we also had a nice view of the beach and buildings facing south....it made the place very bright and airy. Because the building is a bit older, the water coming out of the faucets is a bit rusty, so bring some bottled water for drinking. There's a nice pool with comfy lounge chaises. No gym. The big plus is the beach right outside the hotel with lounge chair and beach umbrellas included in the resort fee. Some non motorized water activities are also included, but we did not use any of them. A few things that I would recommend to improve the guest experience are: towel rack or towel hooks (there's really no place to hang your bath towel to dry properly), paper towels in the kitchen area and higher quality tissue paper (the ones they have just rip with the tiniest amount of moisture). The WiFi was also very spotty and sporadic, sometimes, the signal would just drop and when you were in the balcony, the signal was very weak. The Sandbar Grille is a great restaurant right on the beach. Food is excellent and it's open from 8am to about 9pm. Varied menu throughout the day and a great happy hour selection from 4-7pm every day. Overall a nice place to stay. read more

BEST SPOT ON THE BEACH. CLOSEST TO THE WATER! This hotel has it all, and its property sits the most close to the water on the entire beach! Our room was Ocean view on the third floor, and we could hear the waves crashing while the balcony slider door was cracked. It was magical. Downstairs there is a tropical pool tucked on the west side of the building. There is also a small but delicious waterfront restaurant on the first floor with a small bar. This little boutique hotel with direct access to Ft Lauderdale Beach is a hidden gem. Every room has a balcony directly overlooking the beach and the ocean. The rooms are cute, the facility is warm and welcoming and has a small courtyard pool. But the beach views and the beach itself are the real stars of the show. This hotel is a jewel of the sea! As the photos show, it is positioned directly on the beach. It is a small boutique hotel nestled between huge tower buildings which made it feel quaint and cozy. All of the rooms face the ocean so you are guaranteed an ocean view. The beach is not roped off or private but remained relatively empty and only occupied by hotel guests which added to an already amazing experience. The friendly front desk staffer that checked us in was amazing and very welcoming. I think her name was Hollie or Hallie based on the business cards at the front desk but she gave us a whole talk about where we could find local amenities and how the hotel, beach, pool, and restaurant operated. The beds were very comfy and pillows were some of the best I've used in a hotel setting. We had to make some make-do curtains for the bathroom window that was quite bright in the morning but a morning person wouldn't mind it at all. In the south Florida heat and humidity, the air conditioner struggled to keep up but keeping the balcony curtains closed helped a lot. The restaurant was one of the best in-hotel restaurants I've ever dined at. Although the prices were on the higher side, it was still affordable and the food was well worth it. Housekeeping is by request only so let the front desk know if you ever need a room refresh! I do not envy their job because sand gets everywhere. In fact, the bathtub/shower drained a little slow which I expect is a result of all the sand the guests track in. Also, no need to pack a beach towel as they supply towels which you can use at their beach or at any beach you decide to visit, as long as you bring it back! The photos on the hotel's website are 100% real so it meets with expectations splendidly. I also included a photo of our hotel from the plane as we left to emphasize how cozily it is nestled on the beach and how you can have a small boutique hotel feel, in a 5 star resort location. I waited a couple weeks to send this, as I was a bit upset about the below. This had been our go to vacation spot in Ft. Lauderdale our past 3 vacations. Prior to this visit everything had been great. Thought we were a good renter. Tip the cleaning staff, gentleman sitting in heat providing umbrellas, and tip on top of the tip that's automatically added to food bills no matter how many people are at meals. Left our hotel towels (that need to be returned, otherwise charged) and personal towels at 11:30 pm at pool on chairs before going to lunch, returned at 1:00 PM from lunch. We didn't leave at 8 AM and return 5 hours later. I have noticed this practice at the ocean and pool our past 3 visits. The desk attendant removed our hotel towels and threw our personal towels on a rock and floor where we found them when we returned. I went into the lobby and said someone took our towels. I said why a she didn't answer. Just gave me 2 more towels. My wife often spend time talking to many staff during our stay, as we had felt we were welcome. Disappointed with our last due to one persons actions, that does not seem to understand customer service, and it's not like there are more than 6 people at the pool at any given time. I can not say enough good things about this hidden gem. It's perfect for a couples getaway. My husband and I took a last minute trip to Fort Lauderdale. Luckily we stumbled upon Sun Tower. The hotel was clean and newly renovated. The girl at the front desk Nikki was wonderful. The hotel only has 24 rooms. So it's quite and quaint. This hotel had everything we needed so we never had to leave the premises. Billy would set up our beach chairs and umbrellas daily. This is included in the room fee. We would always tip him for his services. You could walk up to the beachside bar. Perfect for cocktails and lunch. We did a couple of water activities, kayaking and wave boards. Also included in the room fee. Billy helped us get set up with gear and things we needed. The cleaning staff took care of our room daily. They were friendly and trustworthy. The only odd thing was my husband and I were swimming in the pool quietly at 8:30 one evening and were told the pool was closed. Most hotel pools close at 10:00. I just thought 8:30 was odd. Wonderful boutique hotel family owned right on the beach. We have been here before and would definitely come back. Every room is ocean facing and the suites are incredible with a kitchen, dining table and sofa in a separate room from the bedroom. Pool is lovely, small but heated and beach is amazing. Our only issue is that now they seem to be renting the resorts beach loungers to whoever pays a fee. So after paying $$ for your hotel room you are sitting next to people who have paid $20 to sit there. Needless to say a different experience. Really hope they stop that in the future because we don't want to be competing for chairs with people not even staying at the hotel. read more

Beautiful quaint hotel!! We stayed here from Sept 19-24th and stayed in the oceanfront superior king suite on the 2nd floor. The front desk were amazing and so was our room attendant! The views were wonderful and it was fun watching the lightning storms out in the sea. Our room was clean and updated. I was worried that the pool would be cold but it was warm. You pay for the location (directly on beach) and the Sandbar restaurant (downstairs) that provide you with a breathtaking outdoor patio experience on the beach. I cannot deny that was a fabulous experience in itself. ROOM This is a mom and pop style hotel. I got the Ocean King Suite and the ocean view from 5th floor was absolutely astonishing. The balcony is not that big but big enough for you to sit out on. The rooms was meh to me... just ok. The room was clean and a pretty nice size but nothing jaw dropping or modern at all. In fact the amenities need to be updated for the cost. The king bed was very comfortable and cozy. The pullout couch and kitchen I can't... I'm not even gonna go there.. Moving right along. Although they offer free parking I honestly believe that you are still contributing to your parking fee with the amount of taxes and daily hidden resort fee you have to pay. I expected a more personable experience (outgoing customer/room service, perhaps a small token of appreciation for the guest) since this was a smaller hotel along the strip. They did have a attendant that set up your lounging chairs and umbrellas (free use to guest) on the beach for you- I loved that. I rate the overall experience pretty average. read more

I wish you could give half stars because this place would be 4.5 easily. Let's get this out first and foremost, this is not the Ritz Carlton. However, it never claims to be and does an excellent job for the type of hotel it is. So what does that mean ? Well it's one of the very few beachfront hotels in Ft Lauderdale, meaning no crossing A1A to get to the beach. It's a smaller mom and pop style hotel (this is a good thing) where everyone who works there goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed and relaxed. From the easy check in process, to friendly housekeepers, wait staff and beach attendants. There are only 24 rooms total I believe, and that makes for a quiet stay which I like. The rooms are clean and while not up to a 4-5 star hotel standard were recently well remodeled. We have stayed at the place next door, which is also very nice. However, after staying at both, I would rather save my money and use it for other things. This was our second stay and we will be back. read more

When I have to put visiting business or other guest up in Lauderdale for a few nights this is where I have them stay. The ocean views are drop dead gorgeous and its place right smack on the beach couldn't be better, plus the fact that the rates are reasonable both on and off season. It isn't a luxury resort and was never meant to be, but it once was the older part of the next door Pelican Grand Beach Resort, but it occupies and has access to that very same part of the beach that the people next door pay a heck of a lot more to have. Also, for more luxury and meals, one can easily walk next door to the Pelican, having the use of its upper scale restaurant and bar. However, for an afternoon snack the Sandbar Grill of the Sun Tower isn't all that bad and they do have a delightful little reduced price happy hour. There pool isn't the greatest but adequate for a pleasant dip. There isn't any room service or many other such guest amenities, but what you get is at a bargain rate considering its ocean front location. read more

I have to say I expected much better after reading all the great reviews about this place. I booked well in advance for a one night stay to extend a vacation after a cruise. When I booked, I let them know we were coming from disembarkation and would probably be there before check in time and was assured that would not be an issue. Great..not! When the day comes for us to get off the ship and head to the Sun Tower, I gave them a call first thing in the morning and let them know again that we were about to get off our cruise ship and would be there in an hour or two. The woman at the front desk said that is not a problem, we'll see you soon. When we arrived about an hour and a half later, the woman at the front desk told us house keeping had just arrived and she would hold our luggage while we grabbed breakfast at their onsite restaurant and then our room should be ready. Okay, that was fine by us, we were hungry and figured we could head to our room right after. The Sandbar Grill was pretty packed for 8:30am and only had one woman working the entire place. We ordered basic breakfast, eggs Benedict, pancakes, and some juice. Holy shit I've never paid $5 for a tiny orange juice in my life! But whatever, the service was slow but the food was decent, can't say I'd want to spent close to 40 bucks on breakfast again, even if we did get to dine right on the ocean. So, it's now probably close to 10am, and we head back to the front desk assuming we can check right in. Wrong again, the woman at the front desk tells us that our room still isn't clean and it shouldn't be much longer, just have a seat in the lobby. She proceeds to sit around aimlessly and take a couple smoke breaks, and flirt with the kitchen staff for about an hour and a half and taking another couple to their room, all without making any eye contact whenever we ask for an update or why they got a room and we didn't. We never got any answers. By this time, we're pretty exhausted and fed up! We considered going next door but weren't trying to spend another 300 dollars for a room at the pelican. Finally around noon my boyfriend goes up to the front desk and asks what the hold up is. She tells up that our room may have been extremely messy and that it's taking a long time to clean but it will definitely be ready by 3. What the heck?! If this was the case, I really wish she would have just told me that at 7am when I called to say we'd be early. UGH! Well we finally got a room a little after 1pm and the only thing that made up for the ridiculous wait was the fact that the bed literally felt like you were sleeping in a cloud! The room was huge, but the bathroom was tiny and had some sort of nasty wet toilet paper on the rim of the toilet under the toilet seat. Pretty gross! Also, the room never really got cool even with the air conditioning on full blast. The hotel boasts that every room has a balcony ocean view but the balcony is so petite you couldn't even fit a chair on it if you wanted to relax outside and enjoy the ocean view. The next day we used their recommended driver Javier to take us to the airport and he was fabulous! He even made an extra stop for me at the bank so I could grab some last minute cash, since I had spent all minute on $5 orange juice. Also, the man working the front desk the next morning was great too. I wish he would have been working when we had all our issues the day before. read more

The best thing about this boutique hotel is the view from your room. Also the restaurant has very good food and amazing staff. I recently stayed in a King Suite with amazing ocean views; however, the balconies are an odd shape and are only big enough to fit 2 plastic patio chairs and a small side table. The room was not renovated as you see in the website pics. Although it was very clean it was dated. The bathtub is cover with a plastic liner, The 2 wall ac units are old and loud. There are 2 TVs with 2 remotes each . When One tries to turn on the tv in the bedroom the one in the living room is the one that turns on. (What a mess!). The toilet kept making noise. The cheap blinds between the bedroom and living area were falling apart and are super cheap quality. It's better if they get removed because they don't serve any purpose. The suite definitely needs special decor touch. For example, there are no accent pillows, no area rugs. The kitchenette has a tiny microwave with a wobbly turn dish as well as a small old coffee maker. There were only 2 mugs and 3 glasses, Only 2 dinner plates and 1 small soup bowl. No paper towel or napkins either. There was an old coffee maker and no regular coffee packets only decaf. Had to go downstairs and ask for some. The price for the unit seems cheap at first glance but beware of the fine print. For example they charge you $10 for parking but you may not have a space when you arrive and have to wait until a spot opens. Also they charge a high resort fee but you definitely don't get resort service. Also, although the place seemed clean, due to COVID they should have placed signs assuring guests that surfaces had been disinfected. To top it off they ask for your room key card back to recycle. They also give you a laminated card to get pool towels and they ask for that one back as well. That's disgusting! When I went to check out I asked for the manager and the young lady at the front desk identified herself as the manger. As I told her the issues I had encountered she kept interrupting me. She said the room had recently been renovated and all she kept saying was "ok" and nodding her head. Not sure if she was really the manager but she definitely didn't act like one. Never said "I'm sorry" or anything else. The staff in general is nice but there are many loose ends that need management attention. read more

Sandbar grill is the restaurant in the hotel here. It is a beautiful location and atmosphere. Pricing is very reasonable especially for the view you get. Food is great. It's not just an ocean view it's literally on the sandy beach with no road to look over or any obstruction. Highly recommend for the Sandbar grill. read more

I'm a New Yorker that has travelled to beaches all over the world...Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and many of Florida's beaches. But the overall "beach experience" at this boutique beachfront hotel could not be beat! This was the most relaxing, laid back trip, with hotel staff that were warm and accommodating...From the front desk, to the valet, to the management. The room was refreshing, immaculate clean, airy and huge- with a perfect sunrise view over the ocean. The in house restaurant was just great, to dine in, take out, or brought up to the room! The breakfasts were huge, and delicious, and the lunches and dinners were equally as good! The pool and pool area was like a little oasis. The stay here has really left a mark on me, and never did I think I'd enjoy a Lauderdale stay above all other beach stays. I recently booked this hotel for my daughters coming down for a concert in April (Tortuga). I paid one nights deposit. Called a week later to cancel and refusing to refund my $394.00. When I booked this hotel, it states refundable if cancelled 72 hours in advance. And of course underneath it states except holidays or special events. I guess this falls under special events. Even thought it's January 3rd& concert isn't until April 8th. I spoke with Alli on the phone twice and she never once mentioned the deposit was non refundable. But after i mentioned Ocean Manor -she advised me not to book there as it wasn't a safe area. You would think mentioning the deposit of one night was nonrefundable as well..... Live and learn. So the hotel is now Sold out (except my one room), which they will sell it- and they are keeping my money. Maybe spelling out the special events in your fine print would help others not get screwed! Beware when booking and specifically ask what "special events " makes your deposit there's to keep!!! read more

Seriously can't say enough good things about this place. First of all, every staff member was exceptionally nice and always offering to help us in any way we needed. The pool was nice and secluded and even though we never went to it, it was great to have that option there. We loved that the chairs and umbrella as well as the kayaks were all included in our cost. The room was very clean and perfect size. Best thing about this place was that it was right on the beach unlike many Fort Lauderdale places. Would definitely stay here again!!! read more
