When you make a reservation and then pull up to the front of this hotel, you are going to think, "What have I done!?" The answer, my friend, is that you've found a very clean, recently updated, comfortable room in Ft. Lauderdale for much less than the people in the high-rises and condos surrounding this place. Yeah, it's not much to look at, but if you are spending the night before your cruise (as we were), or visiting someone in the area, or even just want to spend a day or two near Ft. Lauderdale beach, this is the perfect spot. The pool isn't very big, but you can cool off in it, and the kids who were here the night we were, seemed to enjoy it immensely. I was given three different rooms at this hotel while I was in Lauderdale. The first room had hair all over the floors everywhere. The second room was infested with roaches. I literally killed more than a hundred roaches before I went to bed. The last room had a broken A/C and was uncomfortably hot until very late at night. The worst part is I was promised a partial refund, and I never received it. They are impossible to reach by phone. The people that run this hotel are dishonest. read more

My husband and I has the most horrible experience! I'm honestly shocked that this place has such good ratings. My husband and I flew in late night around 1am because we needed a quick place to stay for our cruise that would be sailing in the afternoon the next day. NEVER AGAIN will we attempt to stay at this place. SOO sketchy. The owner had confirmed with my husband through text that it was okay that we were arriving late night - early morning for check in. He let us know that a key for our unit would be placed in a box that was locked with a specific code. Well, when we arrived there was no key placed for our unit, but there were two other keys for other hotel rooms. We thought maybe the owner accidently gave us the wrong room number through text message, so we used the keys that were left accessible. Big mistake, we used these kids and walked into two other people units that were being occupied!! These rooms were OCCUPIED, but there key was left accessibly for someone to walk into their room. I was thinking about what if I was in this predicament staying in this place and some other residents - STRANGERS had access to enter my room. HOW UNSAFE and SCARY! Other residents were telling us about the code and to make sure our key wasn't really in there. How did so many people know the code that night???? We attempted to reach the manager/ owner so many times that night and he was nowhere to be found. It was a very frustrating experience. The room that was suppose to be ours was occupied by someone else. They put a "do not disturb sign outside." There were residents at the hotel questioning me and my husband. We kept explaining how we paid to be there that night. I was scared someone was going to end up calling the police on us for "trespassing." We traveled 8 long hours from our hometown to be stuck with no place to go. We called so many hotels that night for a last minute booking. Luckily, the Marriot had an opening. Although, last minute my husband and I had to pay $258 to stay there for 8 hours of having a safe place to stay. The owner reached back to us the next morning via text message and phone call stating that he apologizes for what happened. He says someone else had took the key to our room. BUT HOW DID THE STRANGER KNOW THE CODE TO GET OUR KEY? I was wondering how many people have access to other peoples' keys. He returned our money very quickly and offered a huge discount for the next time I come to Fort Lauderdale. We would never. I don't even want a discount, that place was too sketchy for me. I just wanted a refund and never return to that place ever again. I highly don't recommend anyone stay here. read more

I'll start off with the one good benefit, the hotel was four minutes from the beach. This walk was super ideal and manageable for just about anyone. Expect there to be no one in the office to check you in. If you are lucky and you yell through the gate maybe someone will answer. The hotel attendant was nice but we saw him once and he was MIA for the rest of our one night stay. He probably disappeared due to the lack of AC in everyone's room because it was broken. If you need anything expect not to get it because the attendant will not be around and it's up to you to deal with the issues. The towels were dirty, the floor was dirty and overall dusty room. You get half a roll of TP and watered down soap. Large shower though. The hotel is pretty run down and looks nothing like the pictures. Maybe you can manage one night. read more

Stayed at this awful place. Got there and the office was closed at 2 in the afternoon. Rang a door bell and from somewhere Yolanda popped up. We got into our room only to find our Tv didn't work. We asked her about it since it was raining and we were leaving early. She said our room didn't have a cable box so no Tv. She told me to call the owner who was supposed to be bringing one. We left to eat. We came back a couple hours later and still nothing. Tried to call the owner. No answer and the mailbox is full so can't leave a message. I called 4 times and he blocked my number without answering my call. Can't find anyone here and they are supposed to be until 8. Worst place. This is a total rip off. Another lady here had to move out of her room today because of mold. Don't stay in this hell hole. No service. we were lied to and treated badly. Avoid this place at all costs read more

Booked this hotel on Orbitz they billed my credit card twice for a one night stay. I have no tried calling the hotel 25 times over the last 3 days and no one answers the phone or responds to voicemails. I have emailed 3 times and no response. I canceled the reservation through Orbitz and am now in the quagmire of trying to get my money back. This place IS A TOTAL SCAM! Do not book any reservations here . I am getting screwed out of $382.50 for a one night stay that they billed me twice for and cannot get in touch w anyone to respond.... read more

Derek the manager was great, very friendly and helpful. The rooms and pool are inside a gated area. Got to meet a lot of interesting people from around the world. the parking is a little sketchy and you have to back out onto a busy road, most people visiting the hostel are travelers or backpackers so wouldn't have to worry. I was a bit apprehensive staying here after a pampered 5-day cruise. The place is in need of professional updating but our room was actually pretty comfortable. The ugly: our tile floors were not professionally done (a pet peeve of mine), the bed linens seemed pretty worn, and the mattress wasn't very plush. On the pro side, this place was super cheap and included a kitchen, free wifi, a nice-sized pool, and is a short walk to the beach. Ask to borrow a beach chair and umbrella! SUMMARY: Good if you have no money, but otherwise shell out the cash for a nicer place, especially if you're looking to stay in the area for a special occasion like a honeymoon. If you really needed to, you could stay here for a really long time - they have all the amenities necessary thanks to their laundry facilities and everything in their common area. This place was the best. I stayed with my friend from college for four days. It is cheap, safe, and you'll meet lots of friends from all over. Dennis is the manager and he is always on a good mood and ready to help you with anything you need. The beach is right around the corner and there's a 7 11 open 24 hrs 5 min walk. The beach is breathtaking. The only thing about this place is a little far from Las Olas boulevard and the bars and little restaurant, but the bus rides all along the coast and it's only $1.75 or $4 for a day pass and it will take you 15 mins to be there. If you have a car, then no issues at all!! The rooms are good, and clean. I was on a 6 women dorm and had a fridge, microwave, and bathroom. Yes it gets crowded at some points, especially with the taking showers but nothing unmanageable. I loved it! read more

The Hotel Deauville, Fort Lauderdale - these images do not reflect the current hotel. The pool does have a good gate around it. But it does have a hostel here. Good income for regular business, however dirty not gross just needs major updates new shower curtain, window coverings. You know how typically arrive after 3-5 pm go to dinner and it's darker when return. When you wake up sunlight brings everything to light. It's okay for $59 a night we did not pay that!! We asked for portion of money back since the experience. But do not stay here unless you want quick access, few blocks from the beach Front walk and close food/restaurants for comparison but just do not do not. I love the Deauville! I feel so lucky I discovered this incredible gem in Fort Lauderdale! It's a unique hotel/hostel (but that is quickly becoming so trendy like the Freehand Miami/Chicago) so not for everyone, but what you get for the price is beyond incredible - ONE block from a beautiful semi-private beach, heated pool, kitchenette, laundry, easy location with bus at door - short ride to Las Olas, Malls, EVERYTHING, wifi, bikes to rent, safe, super clean, FREE parking, but the BEST thing is the incredibly warm hospitality by the owners and staff. Carole and Andre bring a rare and wonderful energy, and in today's impersonal world, this is beyond priceless. Whether you are staying a week or more, a hostel hop, a cruise layover, or a for sports camp, it's fantastic. Seriously, this was my secret escape-the-winter spot, but I feel so passionate about it, I had to leave a great review :) read more

The low-end motels (anything costing under $200-250 in winter season) in Lauderdale generally get bad reviews on yelp, so I was quite surprised to find that the Deauville was quite a pleasant place to stay. I did not see one insect. The hostess Cindy was peppy, friendly and very helpful. I didn't meet the owners but my cousin whom I was visiting did, and they showed her around and let her park her car in front while we went out to dinner. I'm sensitive to noise but was not bothered by street noise at all. I didn't hear other guests except in the morning when people were congregating in the pool area outside. A Walgreens and a good Italian breakfast & lunch spot are a couple blocks walk away. I can't speak for the beach since I only stayed one night between a cruise and a trip to Miami. But the Deauville would be a good base of operations for a longer stay. There was a minibar fridge in the bedroom and a real fridge-freezer in the sizable kitchen. The bed was comfortable. The furniture is cheap, some of it chipboard, and the look of the place inside is budget, but hey, it is in fact a budget motel so I have no complaints. I had to pay almost three times as much for one night at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Pier 66 a week earlier, but didn't sleep any better, and it is further from the beach than the Deauville. I'll certainly come back here if I ever return to Fort Lauderdale. read more

This is a cheap Hostel, but very poorly managed for very unprofessional people! Dennis the Manager is a black gay who is always half drunk, and that is why He seems very happy all the time! The owner is a Canadian French, very unpolite with very little Education. He yells at you because you move the chairs near the pool! He has very little respect for the customers, and had no considerations for what guests needs! Save your money for a better place! Friends of the owner are also Canadian French always drinking wine, And their wives smoking cigarettes around the pool since very early In the morning! They did not want to give me a refund of my money because I decide to abandon the place earlier than my reservation! This place is old and in very bad shape specially the rooms, with very old air conditioning machines that make a lot of noise at night and will not let you sleep well! read more

I've never reviewed anything before in my life, but I felt it necessary to review this place. Here goes. I flew into Ft. Lauderdale on a whim and had not booked any lodging. After spending over $400 on last minute hotels for 3 days, I had run across this place on an online search. I was apprehensive at first because I had never stayed at a hostel before but I am a veteran of the Army, so I am accustomed to barracks and shared housing situations. I called and spoke to Dennis on the phone on the same day I needed a room but did not want to give my debit card info over the phone and he said that it was OK and I could do business as a walk-in. I arrived about two hours later to book a bed in a six person dorm but unfortunately someone had booked online before I got there and the bed was taken. Dennis (the manager) was very apologetic and even tried to offer a bed in the female dorm provided that the two women occupants were accepting of it. I had declined and booked another hotel room for the night instead and he reserved the bed for me the following night (Friday) but mentioned they were booked full on Saturday to which he told me if there was a cancelation I would be at the top of the list. Luckily the Saturday reservation was canceled and I received the bed that night as well. On Sunday I booked the bed for another week and they obliged. I don't know if I'm allowed to reveal prices in my review, so in fear of moderation I will only say that their prices are very, very good. I spent less than $300 for ten days in a tropical paradise. All of the people I met there were very nice and respectable, no homeless people or substance abusers like you hear about at most hostels. Most of the clientele were foreigners on vacation and the average age were mature people in their late forties. I felt very safe and comfortable leaving my belongings in the public dorm room as there is no locked storage for large luggage. They do provide small lockers for your valuables and they are free to use if you bring your own lock. They also provide locks for a small fee if you don't bring one. The dorms were clean and relatively quiet. They enforce quiet time at 10:30 p.m. through 7:30 a.m. and have a fairly strict alcohol policy, which I agree with wholeheartedly. The policy keeps drunk college kids away which is nice for the rest of us trying to enjoy a quiet, peaceful vacation. There is a lounge with cable TV, a full kitchen equipped with everything one would need to cook a full meal and a gas grill outside. They have a smallish pool that they keep too warm for my liking but the other guests seemed to enjoy it. Overall I really enjoyed my experience but I only gave four stars for two major reasons. First, the WiFi is horrendous. They only have one router for the entire place which contains at least 20 guests. I realize that people go on vacation to "unplug" but some of us still require a decent connection to conduct business and the connection there is pretty much nonexistent. My only other complaint was about Dennis, the manager. He can be a little moody bordering on disrespectful at times but that usually only occurs in the evening after he puts in a long day. That behavior is acceptable on a human level and it happens to the best of us, but having 20 plus years hospitality experience myself, I know that customer service is crucial in the service industry and service staff needs to be courteous and professional no matter what kind of "day" we are having. That said, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend the Hotel Deauville to everyone vacationing in Ft. Lauderdale on a budget. The beach is only a five minute walk away too, which for me is the main selling point. read more
