Sunless tanning...something I scoffed at once because I'm naturally tan and I tan easily. I didn't think I'd ever have to resort to this. Well I've seen the light, the harmful UV ray of light and I'm not looking back! Living in Daly City, we already get crap weather but this summer has been the ultimate pits. I didn't want my golden glow to fade away so I thought I'd see what my options were. My last experience with self-tanner and liquid tanner left me looking like a zebra, so I thought I'd try the tanning bed. I did eight minutes in the Sunshower which is the stand up bed. Eight minutes feels like a long time while standing in about 90 degree heat so I started doing some squats, tried to make the most of my time. There's music in there too. Also there is a fan above, just yank on the string if you can't stand the heat. Each tanning booth is housed in it's own little room. The tan sesh cost $13, little goggles were $4, and the small bottle of lotion is $8. There are lots of lotion options. The one I bought was per the suggestion of Gabriella who is at the front desk. She is great by the way! She was cracking me up with all these anecdotes about crazy customers. I'd come back just to chop it up with her again! read more

I have been a loyal customer since Dennis opened this place 6 years ago. The BEST prices around. I refuse to tan anywhere else. What they have... One stand up. One Tropical (cheaper) bed Two Lotus beds. (high pressure, more pricey but worth it) Leg tanner Spray tan Botox Why do i love them so? 1 - They're CLEAN. 2 - AWESOME staff. I can talk to them for hours, and literally have. 3 - Prices are AMAZING!! You cant get a better deal. I have friends drive from San Carlos (approx 15-20 mins away) to come here because its THAT good. 4 - Stand up bed. I love it. Whats not so good... I can't say anything negative about this place, other than i can warn people its small and they get busy, so don't ever expect to get in and out right away, call ahead and ask if you're in a rush. Also, their hours are limited, especially Fri-Sun. I'm used to salons open all day, every day. So I finished my one month trial and i just recently bought my VIP package. I mean, how can I not? I love Bianca. She is seriously the most down-to-earth chick and I only speak on behalf of her because I've only worked with one other person (Jamie?) once and I don't think I can speak for her just yet! But yes, Bianca convinced me to just get the VIP package and this place is seriously cheaper than most SF places so I don't mind the little drive. Tanning beds: easy way to get dark because I guess it's more powerful? I forgot the term she used for it but yes. You have to keep in mind that TURNING is necessary. You have to flip your body half way through or else the part of your body touching the bottom will be darker haha But I just do the standing to even things out. Standing: It's more or less like the beds, when I don't feel lazy and want to lie down, I'd just do the standing because I want an even all-around tan. I really want to try the Lotus bed and see how it goes but we'll see! I forgot how much it costs to upgrade but I'll ask the next time I'm in! Be sure to ask questions prior to going in because different skin types react differently to tanning and how long you can be in there. If you're planning to do two session one after another (standing/bed and legs after) be sure to reapply the lotion a bit because last time I didn't.... my booty got burnt haha! :P read more

I called at the very last minute looking for anywhere to take me that night for a spray tan- they were able to fit me in within ten minutes from the time I called (and I was so grateful). I asked if I should put lotion on my hands/knees/elbows/heels as other places have always recommended and was told that brand didn't require it. Although she looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned the yelp $10 off deal, they did honor it. My tan was even for about a week and a half before regular showers started to remove it- BUT my hands and the edges of the bottom of my feet were an ugly orangey/brown for a huge event, and I'm hoping that doesn't show up in photos. I would go back, but definitely recommend using the lotion technique to avoid awkwardly colored hands and feet. (Nail polish remover, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and even scrubbing soap didn't work as far as removal goes) read more

My family is originally from Hawaii and I took for granted the healthy color I had when I was a kid. I looked extra crispy when I was younger and thought I would never lighten up...but it did and I'm back to being pale :( Living in SF all these years...it's really hard to keep a tan or even get one naturally!!! I know, I know tanning beds are horrible for you! But, if one were to tan he/she should come here. I use to come here pretty often....they have a stand-up tanning booth which gives you a perfect tan...no part of your body is missed! They have very clean tanning beds and are very very reasonable. I just started coming back to Sun Trenz because I am getting married in Mexico and needed to get some sun on these white legs. The owner Dennis is really great, and even though he never remembers my name he always remembers my face. And I love that. Now the receptionist Verna is amazing. She knows my name, consults with me on how long to tan, so I won't burn, and is really genuine. I like her a lot. I always want to talk to her, but I breeze in and out and she is always busy with clients. Totally cool. One day I will get Verna all to myself and shoot the sh*t with her. I live in San Francisco, but prefer to come to Sun Trenz because it is really clean, great beds, and reasonable prices. I have read that some people say the prices have gone up but so has the price of gas. So get over it, and don't think you are going to get a better price because in the city it is so expensive. This sun tanning place is hidden on El Camino in San Bruno and they offer tanning beds and also spray tanning. I booked an appointment and managed to find parking in front of the building. It's a small shop and the tanning room in back is where they do the spray tans. I was hesitant upon entering the room because it looked a little unkept and did not compare to some of the other modern tanning places. They might just need to update the decor and remove the old curtains... the lady who spray tanned me was friendly and gave me instructions about how they spray tan at their facility. The final result was that I was surprisingly impressed--my tan looked even and dark. I just had to use the fan a little extra longer and next time I might try the darkest shade. Overall the spray tan was good and the price was extremely affordable. I recommend this place for a last minute spray tan but make sure to call and make an appointment.. they get booked up quickly. read more

This is the best place for tanning! I say this for many different reasons. It is clean, there isn't much of a wait unless it's during the weeks before prom or winter formal for any of the high schools in the area, and most importantly, it's cheap. Right now there is a deal for $19.99 for seven tans. Of course you have to use these tans within 10 days, but this is perfect for getting a good base tan before a vacation or before you go back to your college town that doesn't have a decent tanning place. The owner is always the best person to deal with because he is friendly and knowledgeable. The younger girls are okay but sometimes their friends are visiting and having a buddy there chatting the whole time does not seem very professional. They are sweet girls though and they usually remember my name so I'll let that slide. I also love that there are several different beds. Every now and then it's good to go into the stand up bed so that you can get under your arms tanned a little better. They also have a leg tanner, that looks pretty weird, but it's great for if you are planning to wear a short skirt or if other parts of you are burnt and you want to give them a rest while still getting your gams sun kissed. I called around, googled and yelped and found SunTrenz in San Bruno. The salon is immaculate, the employees are fabulous and the cost for tanning is completely economical. For a 3-month starter package it's about $40 per month, after your 3 months, you pay monthly and are able to cancel at any time. They auto-withdraw the funds from your account and it's a painless process. The owner actually worked with me to withdraw from my account on the day of the month that worked best for me. This is for SPRAY TANNING ONLY. Worst spray tanning experience I've ever had. First, they didn't have my appointment. But it's fine, because she was able to take me in (wasn't busy at all). I didn't sign a waiver (that should say something about this establishment). Secondly, the room was dark and dirty and it didn't help that it smelled like urine. There was a curtain hanging for "privacy." I mean anyone can look into it which didn't sit well with me since I was pretty much naked. When she left the room, she didn't have the courtesy to be discreet, she left the door almost halfway open as I'm standing there naked. Third, no clear instructions on before and after the spray tan. For the tanning itself, it made my skin really really dry. I'm lucky that I've never been orange or had streaks from spray tanning but this is the first where it made my skin really flaky and dry. DO NOT GO HERE. It was $40 but I rather go to another spot and pay for the extra $10 for better service and experience. read more

$20 expensive for a bed that doesn't have ac or music! Friendly staff but beds were worn out

So I made last minute plans to go to vegas with my friends and among the dilemmas of finding the raciest micro-outfits to at least play the part in sin-city, I knew that my pastiness would not suffice the role. Even though I live in San Francisco, driving out to Sun Trenz was worth absolutely every penny. This would be my first time doing tanning beds, so naturally I was a little bit nervous about the experience. The owner and receptionists were very nice and quick to accomodate my questions and concerns. During my first visit, I actually got VERY VERY lost (advice: the address listed here is incorrect!) and was actually dropped off a ways away from where the salon is on the other side of El Camino. I ended up having to walk all the way over, and when one of the managers heard about my, erm, 'adventure', he gave me a package of 7 tropical tans and a free mini lotion for 30 dollars. Excellent customer service? check. So for the next week I paid an almost daily visit to Sun Trenz and they properly advised me on how long to stay on the beds and even let me use the stand-up. Never once did I burn! And lo and behold, within a week I was a bronzed goddess lounging on the trendy, albeit promiscuous vegas pools. When I got back, I still had 2 tans left, and they were nice enough to extend the 11-day period by another week. Another A+ in my book! I will definitely be back because of the AMAZING staff, the comfortable environment and prompt, quick service. read more

After visiting several tanning salons in the Bay Area, this one is the winner by far! Always extremely clean, very friendly staff, great beds, and the best prices I have found!! This salon also has a really good selection of tanning lotions, and they offer samples of the lotions that you can buy before committing to a whole bottle. Anything you need they have. On top of that, this is a locally owned and ran shop, keeping our money in our community, always a plus! The guy who owns this business is super friendly and has always come across as very knowledgeable whenever i've had questions about tanning. Sun Trenz has a high powered stand up tanning bed as well as several Lotus lay down tanning beds , and a tropical bed that is a touch milder. They also offer spray tans for those who prefer not to go under the lights, and are even bringing in a part time cosmetic doctor for botox procedures. Was looking around town for a tanning place before summer hits and I get killed by the sun. Found this place through yelp 2 others were closed (Out of Business) so I figured why not try it. Walked in and looked at the prices. Wasn't as affordable as some places in Sacramento where i moved from, (19.88/month-Unlimited - Higher lotion markups) I was going to sign up for the $20/7 tans and found out you get a free week for buying the top shelf lotion. So ended up picking up the lotion. Today will mark my 6th time here. Nothing but a good experience since day 1. There was really only one day i had to wait a bit because there were quite a few people inside.(Sunday). The other days I came in the basic bed (tropical) was being used so I was offered the lotus upgrade for free so I wouldn't have to wait. Definitely great customer service experience so far. The only thing thats really stopping me from going here more frequently is the price. I still travel back and forth to Sacramento weekly. However I really am on edge because of the great customer service and I'm in the area more frequently. Pricing here is definitely competitive to other tanning locations in this area. read more

Cheapest tanning on the Peninsula, I would say. That is what made me pick it over the other salons, and I'm happy with it. I moved to the Bay from Sacramento, and could not believe how overpriced tanning was compared to Sac! But anyways, for the Bay, this was reasonably priced. I really liked all the workers. All were super nice. The tanning salon is clean, nicely decorated. I never had to wait for a bed, and most importantly their hours are pretty accommodating for people who work..they are open fairly late and every day of the week. I got a decent tan...I'm not sure how often they change their bulbs though...but friends/fam couldn't believe how tan I was..so their beds definitely work well! I really have no complaints of the salon, and would recommend tanning here. read more

Its the best priced BY FAR in the bay area and Verna is a DOLL - she remembers me and my friends when were there together and separate, always asks how everyone is when we come alone and makes sure we are getting out monies worth! There is a young guy and a young girl there from time to time who are good but personally I cant stand the owner - he never remembers people and from my experience there is favoritism when there is a wait for beds - so I tend not to tan when hes there (which is rare) Recently, I had a monthly unlimited package and about a week before the month was over I had X amount of unused tans, I was going to be out of town for a family medical issue and they after informing me my month was almost up and telling me how many tans I had left, after I explained I would be gone, they went ahead and extended my package... how awesome is that?! I have been tanning for years and never had that happen, most places say use it or loose it. In addition to their variety of beds (the back lay down is the best!) there is the leg tanner which you can go in after your tan to get that extra color in your legs without exposing the rest of your body - just the perfect cherry on top! 5 stars for sure, I love this place. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I went to get an airbrush tan yesterday evening as I am going on a short trip to the lake this weekend and wanted some color. I've gotten airbrush tans many times before, but it was my first time at this salon. My first warning sign should have been when she didn't mix a tan for my skin tone, she just used whatever was left from whoever went before me. Usually when you get an airbrush tan, they mix the color to suit your skin tone and how tan you want to be. This is why airbrush tanning usually looks so natural. Also when she was spraying me, she sprayed both sides of my hands so my palms got several hefty sprays. She didn't give me a wet wipe or a towel to wipe my palms on afterwards to ensure they aren't orange or weirdly tan. I rinsed my palms as soon as I got home but unfortunately it was too late. When I got up this morning I looked scary. Orange and blotchy everywhere. I thought, ok don't panic, shower and wash the color guide off, maybe it will be ok. No such luck. My hands and feet are almost 4 shades darker than the rest of my body and are horribly patchy and orange. One half of my face is tan while the other is my normal color, and the backs of my legs look like they didn't get sprayed at all while the front of my legs are an awful orange-tan color. Also the areas around my shoulders and armpits are blotchy and uneven. I just can't believe how bad it is. There are so many good reviews of this place, so I don't know what happened. I'm so incredibly disappointed and rather angry that I look this bad, and that I have to go out in public in a bathing suit looking like a splotchy orange mess. read more

I haven't been to this spot in ages and just went back today (and I'm still in the system!). I'm always a little put off by tanning salon staff. They tend to be young girls, who sit alone in the salon all day, talking to their friends on the phone, and typically can't bother to interrupt their personal lives to help you without major amounts of attitude or delays while they finish up. Luckily the girl attending this shop at least wraps things up quickly instead of keeping you waiting. I'm totally terrified by the spray tan booth (Magic?) which drenches you in liquid, that then runs down your arms and legs creating streaks before you can wipe it all off. However, when I asked if they had any recommendations for fixing it, she took me back into the spray tan room to get a bit more of the liquid and buff out the streaky bits. She also said if I found any more later, that I could come back in and they'd help me out. Nice! I wouldn't complain about more mirrors though so we could check out those hard to see areas before we get dressed. $20 for fairly dark color that doesn't damage my skin (though who knows what it does to my lungs) isn't bad. Maybe next time I'll bring an assistant who can towel me down quickly before I streak. read more

I just need start with how AMAZING Bianca is! She did my spray tan last week and I have not stopped getting compliments about it! It looked so natural and wonderful! Mind you I'm very pale and it's quite easy for me to look orange, but it was absolutely perfect! The directions she face me for after care and how to maintain it was on point!
