BEWARE: I thought I had scored a steal on my recently purchased cantilevered dining chairs given their 20% off sale price. Unbeknownst to me - and I should have been more vigilant in reviewing past customer's experience - I discovered that there were iterations of the EXACT same chair (same dimensions, color, material, etc) selling on WALMART AND HOME DEPOT, WAYFAIR, AND TEMU for a fraction of the price. I paid $250 per chair following their $20% off sale; originally it was $275 per chair, and on Home Depot's website, for example, it is listed as $145 for a SET OF 2. I genuinely thought I was supporting the purchase of an upcycled piece that was previously used and refitted into something new - thereby reducing waste. I see on the website now that they sell it as a newly made contemporary piece. HOWEVER - why even market yourself as the purveyor of MCM "vintage" and "upcycled" pieces when you're just going to sell drop ship pieces from China. They literally purchased it brand new and just sold it for a 348% mark up. Again - that's a 348% MARK UP. I'm more so disappointed in myself in not being as vigilant about this and falling for the "cute vintage store on the corner of the street" appeal. read more

I'm not going to retell my whole situation but basically I got scammed buying something online during a sale that absolutely was not what they claimed it was & was therefore outrageously priced. There's a reason they don't allow returns and it's because they know exactly what they're doing. I was also looking at a "modern/new" piece on their site that I then saw for cheaper on homedepot.com Never again. Wishing I had read the reviews before I made purchases here. It's a great place to shop and browse and get inspired for the "Mid Century" look, but the benefits end there. - Bought a couch less than a year ago springs are already sagging and making noise at sit down. - As others mention, anything from their "Private Collection", which is anything except for a smattering of overpriced vintage items, are actually just triple marked up Amazon and Wayfair furniture with worse return and shipping policies. - I bought a chair for $450ish, drove home 5 minutes away and within 15 minutes I called to ask if I could return it as it doesn't fit the space. Nope, absolutely no exceptions on the return policy. Suck with credit I don't want - I ordered something custom and after it not arriving until weeks after the committed date, again canceled but only offered credit. - Finally found a piece I liked - needed two but they only had one and would take 6-8 weeks to "custom make" another one. Ended up buying the one, only to realize that night looking on Wayfair that It had been triple marked up. I ordered my second from Wayfair. Had it fully assembled at my door in 2 days, with no shipping fee (Sunbeam charges $50-$100 minimum even living a few blocks from them AND takes weeks to deliver) and an easy return policy. It's sad they are actively ripping folks off, it feels so folksy take friendky it's easy to get hustled... read more

Brutal policies when wanting to cancel items that are over a month delayed/past the latest delivery window. My roommate insisted we use Sunbeam and regrets it deeply. Just know if you pay for something, EVEN IF ITS DELIVERED DAMAGED, you will only get store credit. If something is going to be delivered weeeeeks after the last delivery window, they won't refund you, you can only cancel for store credit. Just what I want is thousands of dollars in store credit from an unreliable company that doesn't stand by damaged furniture. We don't want to use them again because of it and now we have a huge amount of money in store credit, from a store u don't want to shop at ever again. With that said, they have nice things (hence the 2 stars not 1), but rough customer service policies. Not worth it - look elsewhere. read more

I've been coming to, browsing and buying items here for 10+ years. I've had friends tell me that they've found the exact pieces on Amazon & Wayfair at lower prices but I ignored it because I want to support a small business. My partner & I ordered 2 pieces, a coffee table and a "modern" side table. We estimated shipping for where we live on their website. It was $100 per item of furniture. I decided to go pick it up. On a weekeday, it'd be a 50 minute round trip. When ordering online they ask that you arrange a pickup window. We chose a day & time. The time arrived & the order still read as processing. I called their number on Google multiple times to see if I should come pick up the piece. No answer. I checked the confirmation email & it read: "Please Text ( do not call) for assistance if needed (323) 908-9" The phone number is completely cut off in the email. I texted the google number & was informed that my coffee table was available for pickup but that my side table takes 2-3 weeks to arrive. I explained to them that nowhere on the page of the item does it say it's not currently in stock at the store. Mariain formed me that it was & that "a lot of people miss it. The website read "Ramona Side Table has a 3 to 4 week ETA during the holidays". When I told them this, they took some time to reply & told me I read it wrong. I checked the website & they had CHANGED THE WORDING (screenshots attached). I drove to the address that was listed in the email. The email explicitly stated: "pick up is NOT at our Regular Showroom Location" I circled 4 times looking for the entrance that didn't exist. Against THE STORE'S OWN PICKUP INSTRUCTIONS I went to the showroom where I found my table sitting on the sidewalk. No wrap like with all other items I've purchased, no sold sign. I spoke to a woman about the wrong address in the email. She rolls her eyes and says "I've told them to change that. I don't know why our email still says that." No sorry for the misunderstanding, no apology, no attempt to make me wasting my time because of their mistake right. No customer service at all. I double check to make sure they don't have the side table anywhere in their showroom as well & I'm informed again that the website clearly states that it takes 2-3 weeks. I show her the website on my phone where it says no such thing. She then smiles & says "it's almost Halloween, that's kind of a holiday." Like I'm sorry, are we in high school? What is this???? Are ya'll an actual business or am I at an open mic? I don't wanna take time out of my day to come pick up a side table that I thought was ready when I've already shown up once. I politely ask if they can waive the $100 delivery fee & deliver the piece when it's ready. I'm told that I live "really far away" and that it would cost "way more in gas & time than $100 to deliver to my neighborhood." and that the delivery fee was $250. I said I could have selected $100 delivery online, I was told that delivery would have been cancelled if I hadn't coughed up an extra 150% charge after paying the initial delivery fee. Now I'm feeling like I'm getting a shake down. It's worth noting, I'm E of the 405 and S of the 101, at this point, I'm about to whip out a map & do a geography class cause I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Some quick math. 16 miles in a truck that gets 8 mpg is about $8, let's call it $17 round trip which isn't even how a delivery works cause there'd be other stops but whatever. Two guys in a truck to lift a 5 pound table. They're making $25/hr. For those keeping score at home we're at a liberal cost to the business of $67. And if they had said "our bad, we'll knock the delivery fee to $50" I would've taken it in . Instead they said "how about $200?" Eventually "we'll honor $100." I ended my interaction with "This is absurd, y'all need a new website and email system." To which the employee laughed and said "I know." What???? Talk about hitting it out of the park with customer service. The employee pointed at my table on the sidewalk where any dog could have peed on it & when I said it wasn't wrapped despite me having scheduled a pickup (which was now an hour past thanks to their shenanigans) the employee informed me that if I hung out they would find someone to wrap it. I put it in my trunk and dipped. 2 weeks later, I picked up the (unwrapped) side table. From the build quality, it was clear I'd been ripped off. I probably could have found it online for cheaper. As I took it out of my car when I arrived home, I noticed 2 of the legs were loose. They hadn't even bothered to screw them in all the way. Bro, I'm never coming here again. Lmao. Came in yesterday and purchased a coffee table for $430. When I got home, I checked Yelp and saw a complaint about the exact table I purchased. On Amazon, the table sells for $179. I'm really really disappointed in this place. It sucks because it's a wonderful place to shop. Aesthetically it's great and the people working there were friendly. Really used to love coming here. Was great for inspiration, especially when MCM was just starting to become popular again. Recently, it has been a pretty big bummer and not worth your time if looking for *actual* vintage. We walked by the other weekend and I noticed a bench sitting outside.. and immediately knew it had come from the Studio Mcgee Target line, released earlier this year (and in pretty poor condition). I remarked to my boyfriend that it couldn't possibly be getting set up to be sold... since it's from a very popular target line. I just checked their site and found that they in fact HAD listed and sold it for $250. You can order a brand new one from target.com for a whopping $170. Huge bummer for whoever paid that much for a target bench in poor condition. That same trip I noticed a few other items that were clearly from Wayfair/Amazon/Overstock. Either Sunbeam is being dishonest, or they're not doing their research properly. Will not be coming back. ***Edited: I changed review from 2 stars to one. On the surface this store is a cool place for finding unique vintage furniture. It is staged well and provides a lot of creative inspiration, but unfortunately I will not be supporting this establishment ever again. I have purchased pieces in the past, but similar to other reviewers I echo the sentiment that the quality is not up to par. Most importantly, I will never support this business again because of an encounter my husband and I witnessed while visiting the store. A homeless individual had wandered into the store, and whereas I do understand the frustration and the need to protect your business, there is no rationalization for the way that the employees of Sunbeam Vintage completely and utterly abused this man. Not only did they scream and cuss at him in front of all the customers, but they also physically assaulted him. As my husband and I were leaving the store, we watched as an employee physically dragged this man across the hot asphalt and left him in the middle of the road. I have never been so shocked and disturbed. We ended up cancelling our order after this event because we will never support a business that allows for the complete dehumanization and abuse of another human being. Whereas they did accept the cancellation of our order, it was deeply disappointing that their response to the situation was that they let "their emotions get the best of them." There is never an excuse for that sort of behavior, and I am truly disgusted. I wish we had never bought anything from Sunbeam Vintage in the past, but their true colors were shown and we will never make that mistake again. I am extremely disappointed to find my order was processed by an Amazon print service! I bought the black framed "eye" piece shown on this page as a surprise for my girlfriend after we saw it in person at store and thought I was supporting a local business and buying something real and unique.  They did not reply to any correspondence once they had my money. Then they turn around and just dump an order into Amazon, completely hands free, making them part of the bigger problem. It arrived newly printed from an Amazon direct printing service along with my usual Prime delivery. Their website offering "free delivery" within a certain vicinity feels like a confirmation I was getting the piece I saw in your store, delivered locally. I came on to leave a review and sadly I see I'm not alone; specifically with store credit not being honored. First of all, I tried to resolve my issue with the store manager and I also tried to contact the owner by phone and email. Sunbeam has acknowledged my complaint via email, but it's now past the deadline they set to respond to me by. At the end of 2019 I purchased two items online and picked them up in store. Upon bringing the items home and unpacking them I realized they were not vintage, but vintage inspired - new and poorly made. After reaching out and addressing my concerns I was able to return my items for store credit. I will note after my complaint there was better clarity in their listing of what was vintage and what was new. Granted I've seen "vintage" at Sunbeam from as recent as the 1990s via Pier 1, so that term is loosely used. Pandemic hit and I've been looking off and on their site for something to use my credit for. I was recently in the area and decided to pop in and finally use my store credit. I found two vintage items and upon checking out when I first mentioned I had credit the response was the it would be really hard to pull that up since it was so long ago. I mentioned I had emails, texts, even a voicemail from two past employees to help track down my credit, the response to that was that store credit was only good for 12 months. If Sunbeam has unique terms, one should be notified when the credit was issued or via the webpage. Mocking a customer for trying to use store credit for what are seemingly common terms amongst other retailers is not only unnecessary, but unprofessional. After what transpired I reached out to a couple other stores about their store credit terms, and their response was that store credit does not expire. This backs up my general assumption. I offered a solution in the store; the two items that I was looking to purchase in exchange for my entire store credit. The two items were worth half the amount of my credit. When the comprise was not accepted, I made it clear, twice, I had no interest in buying either of the items. After some persistence pressure from an employee I walked out with one item, which should not have transpired. I had no intention of giving Sunbeam any more business when previous credit could not be honored. I will be donating the item. I also will be reporting Sunbeam to the Department of Consumer Affairs. They should not be allowed to make a profit off of taking advantage of people. I would like to reiterate Sunbeam has had the appropriate amount of time given to address my complaints and concerns this is not the forum for it. Despite what I see in some of the reviews, I had a good experience with Sunbeam Vintage. I purchased two Link Taylor nightstands labeled "vintage" online and I picked them up in excellent condition. I am a novice when it comes to buying vintage, but they look legitimate to me, and they seem to be higher quality than nightstands I could have bought for a similar price at a trendy mass-market furniture store. The nightstands are solid wood, which was an important selling point for me. I shopped around on numerous furniture sites to compare prices, and was satisfied with the price offered at Sunbeam Vintage. I was pleased with the pick up process - two employees plastic wrapped the nightstands for me and put them in my car for me. The furniture was ready within 2 minutes of my arrival at the store. I will consider Sunbeam Vintage again when looking for vintage / eclectic / unique furniture. Seems like I'll just have to be careful not to select anything "modern" and hope that the store remains transparent to other customers about the quality / type of product that they're selling. My first purchase at a vintage store! I bought a set of 4 leather barstools (not pictured) for my wine room (i.e., man cave) because they went well with the rustic western theme. The stools were new not vintage, but the point is buy what you like and you will be happy. I just went in to browse but the stools caught my attention and I ordered them. Still waiting for them to come in and excited to see them in their new home. Prices are on the high side in my opinion, but again if you like it you, like it, right? I believe most pieces are actually vintage, but there are some items that are new. I will definitely be a regular browser especially while I'm looking to refurnish some rooms in my home. What a bunch of absolute crooks. Last year they sold us a "vintage" clock which was to be a present for my mom. Upon unpackaging the clock, it looked like it had been through a washing machine - all banged up and dented and marked. When calling up to enquire, they said this was the "vintage" look, but in reality It looked like street garbage. Sunbeam refused to offer a refund, but after much debate they agreed to issue a store credit for later use. They sell vintage looking pieces for vintage prices. I bought a leather dog, they claimed it was vintage. I noticed a cut off tag on the back of it, so I googled it. It was on Home Depot's website for HALF THE PRICE. Just yesterday they had a mirror that someone called out as being from world market. They claimed theirs was vintage, got countered, then deleted the post. They have the TV stand I got off Touch of Modern or something for $250 for $500. I've seen joybird pieces in their store for 20% more than what joybird sells it for They're great for inspiration, but absolutely google anything and everything there. I took a closer look and sure enough this is a scam. They are buying cheap furniture and putting it together (IKEA style) and up selling like crazy. This is a nice store but NEVER buy their furniture without taking a look at it first in person. They have photos online but do not disclose imperfections. I get it, it takes time to write descriptions but when I inquired about piece I was interested in to ask about any big damages, etc. they said that for a limited time they have free delivery that won't last so just pay right now. I kind of left uncomfortable. I went to go see it in store and glad I did because when I saw it in person it was not worth the price. I recently purchased a chair from them. When the chair arrived it turned out to be damaged, big cosmetic flaw/ missing a very noticeable button but the ad pictures where taken from an angle to "hide" this. I contacted them immediately and told them the pictures were misleading and truthfully I found it quite shady that they had clearly tried to hide the cosmetic flaw and I wanted to return the chair. The purchase was at around 1000 dollars so it just didn't sit right. They told me purchases are non refundable and offered to fix it and came to collect the chair again. After a few days I asked again if I could return the chair as I truthfully just didn't trust them at this point and there are so many other vintage shops where I could get something similar that doesn't go about it in a shady way. After lots of back and forth AND them mistaking me for another customer that also wanted a refund they again stated all purchases are non refundable and they would offer us store credit but not for the ridiculously pricey 250 delivery fee they charge. So it came down to either giving them 250 dollars for a store credit at a place we are never gonna shop at again or keeping the chair. We kept the chair! Every interaction I had with them was unpleasant from the moment of purchase. I highly recommend going elsewhere for your vintage purchases as this company has in my opinion little to no integrity and their no refund policy is used to pedal bad quality merchandise and forcing people to overpay.
