Amazing spot. I stumbled upon this place on a Saturday evening at around 8pm, I saw an actual furniture store filled with Gen Zers and some photo booths and got curious and went in. One of the photo booths was getting repaired but the other one was working perfectly and some people were using it. There is also a very cool Stranger Things inspired pinball machine and the overall decoration and atmosphere of this place was very cool. I made small talk with some people and this very kind older gentleman approached me to talk to me for a bit. I think he was the one in charge of the store for the afternoon/evening shift on a Saturday evening. 10/10 place. read more

Tried to stop by on a Wednesday afternoon. Prior to arriving checked two different places to ensure they would be opened, and they weren't.

Wow this place is amazing - my two obsessions are pinball and instant film/photobooths. The Hunt Vintage hits both of those perfectly with two pinball machines and two film photo booths and one of them is a color photo booth. If you're not a photo booth nerd you might not know that these are EXTREMELY RARE nowadays. There are probably less than ten of them in the US out for the public to use (maybe even fewer than that!) Anyhow Michael is a great guy and super friendly. Helpful and enthusiastic he invited me to some live bands playing there later in the day too so there's a lot more that must go on here aside from the furniture, photobooths and pinball. Definitely gonna be a regular stop of mine every time I am in LA! read more

Buyer Beware on custom furniture! Very frustrating experience unless you're ok waiting a year. I ordered two custom pieces in November 2024. At the time of ordering, I spoke with Michael on the phone and we discussed the specs, cost, and timeline. He stated that if I got the order in before Christmas the timeframe would be 12-16 weeks to complete the pieces, which I agreed to and gave him a down payment of over $1000 to get started. From that point his communication was non-existent, going literally months without responding to my texts, emails, phone calls, voicemails, etc. During the California wildfires I checked in on wellness - nothing, no response. Months went by and I'd inquire about progress and the only responses I'd get were excuses - first his builder was out of country so he didn't have an update, then his builder broke his arm so no update, then Michael was on a camping trip so no update...on and on through June of 2025, over 7 months later and he couldn't even give me an update that my items were in progress. Finally, after becoming quite frustrated, and since Michael couldn't even give me a general ETA, I canceled the order and my money was refunded. 7 months wasted when all he needed to do was communicate better, which I clearly explained. I told him I was fine waiting if only he could give me a realistic ETA and he couldn't. Horrible communication, horrible customer service, horrible experience. I understand the challenges that come with being a small business, but these guys don't seem to have a care for their customers, and can't seem to dedicate a few minutes out of their day to respond to inquiries. As I told him, after paying $1125 as a down payment, and over 7 months past, I expect better communication, at least an update that my investment is being worked on. But apparently that was asking too much. Buyer Beware. read more

Awesome Vintage Furniture Shop in the Arts District. Stopped in here looking for some random antiques and knick knacks but did not really find those when we arrived. My girlfriend and I walked in here one afternoon after asking siri to bring us to an antique store. We were greeted by a man who shared a bunch of stories with us, not only about the vintage items but also about himself. We had no real intentions of buying any of his pieces that day, as we arent really in need for furniture for at least a few more months. However, the owner was not pushy at all, just an entertaining human being whose presence really made us want to come back and get furniture from when we do eventually get a place. We ended up with a graphic magazine that he had alluded a back story to, and we walked out with a little antique and a maybe an hour of stories, which I will be reminded of every time I see the magazine. Michael had been referred to me by a friend, and I loved the "zig zag" style his shop offers, but wanted one that had an additional shelf for more storage. He was super communicative throughout the process, even at one point reinforcing the wood beams to make sure that it was as sturdy as could be, and worked to find me the best deal on cross-country shipping. Highland Park got a dazzling new addition earlier this year with The Hunt Vintage, a Mid-Century furniture, art, chotski and swag emporium, with pieces (and prices) so breathtaking, I'm trying to find empty corners of my house begging for a brass and glass Hollywood Regency bar cart and Eames rocker. Located on York and Ave 53, this shop with an endless array of goodies was the brainchild of Michael Glotzer, formerly of Sunbeam Vintage and Vintage Apartment fame. His quirky Instagram marketing is hilarious ("20% if you bring me a #9 pastrami sandwich from Langers!"), but as his 8,000 strong Instagram followers can attest, his taste is not -- well, all 5 New Kids on the Block fashion dolls in mint condition packaging is certainly questionable. Best of all, if you can't find what you're looking for, you can get custom made credenzas, tables and nightstands made to your exact specifications. So far, I've had 2 gorgeous nightstands and a media credenza made that cost a fraction of what I would have spent for a ready-made one. I'll be the first to admit, I was late to the Mid-Century furniture game. Though I'd always admired the modern clean lines, I wasn't convinced it would work with my 1920s Spanish house. Then in 2012 I met Michael and his lovely wife Emalyn who promised a Mid-Century coffee table upon closing their house and the rest is history. Let's just say that coffee table classed up the joint and gave me instant design cred. Needless to say, most of the West Elm moved out and the clean lines moved in. Lucky for you, though it looks like a hoity toity Westside shop, it's an Eastsider with fantastic looks at shockingly reasonable prices. So, why Ikea-it when you can get a vintage beauty? Oh yeah, the owners are really cool, this is a mom n' pop shop, and they just had twins(!), so don't nickle and dime them because you'll get an amazing price. read more

For many years I have always wanted to decorate my home with Mid Century furniture. I finally decided to shop around for a few pieces of furniture. I wanted real vintage pieces, quality furniture. I seriously traveled throughout LA and hit ALL the stores that carry this type of furniture, Some just had junk and others were way over priced. I finally went to The Hunt and fell in love with several pieces there, Purchased a coffee table, floor lamp and side table. I met the owner Michael and asked all sorts of questions, all my questions were answered. Michael is awesome! He is very knowledgeable and immediately I knew he was offering fair prices for the pieces he had in his showroom. He only has quality furniture, I love his store! Wonderful vintage shop with all kinds of pieces. I found there wasn't a ton of inventory when I went but I'm sure that ebbs and flows and they find things. The variety of furniture was good. The pics on here show the shop quite full but they had a little less when we came in last month. They have very unique furniture here and very good quality. Of course when it comes to one-off pieces there are days when you don't find a piece that speaks to you. I find with vintage shopping it can take a few visits before I find just the right thing. I liked shopping here even if I didn't buy at the time. But I'll be back again no doubt. read more

I initially found this shop via Etsy when shopping for a new desk and was excited to learn it was a local Los Angeles store that I could visit in person. Their showroom is pretty big and has a wide selection of both vintage and custom pieces. In the end I decided to purchase a newly made table and entire transaction was very smooth. I emailed about some small customization requests and Michael got back to me promptly and we finished up the order right there on the phone. I'm not an avid yelp reviewer but I feel compelled to share my experience here with 'Mike' at The Hunt Vintage. Our family's conundrum... Great-grandma was unexpectedly in need of personal care & she had to leave her beloved home. We gathered to clear out the house in order to get it ready to rent & offset her expenses. Knowing many furniture pieces in her home weren't meant for the trash heap or the local donation center where many of her things otherwise ended up, I happened upon Mike through a reference when I called David at 'MID-CENTURY LA.' What a great guy David turned out to be! He gave me advice & connecting me to Mike, for which I'm very grateful. My family was in a bind, literally needing to get these items out of her home that day as relatives were there from out of town helping with the daunting task. I called & spoke with Mike, who proved to have a wealth of knowledge & experience with mid-century furniture. I sent Mike pics of "Grandma Nancy's" cherished furnishings from 1950's and 60's. We texted & spoke by phone a few times. He agreed to take the furniture on consignment and we made a very fair agreement, a win-win for everyone involved. Maybe that's not possible in every situation but - lucky us; we were beyond impressed at how fast everything came together! The 2 gentlemen that moved the furniture to his store were very professional & took great care in wrapping & protecting all of the items. He was kind and helped us ensure we sent everything to Mike's shop that might have good value. The movers were literally "white glove" treatment as one would hope to receive such great service! As for Mike, I cannot say enough good feedback in this write-up! Working with Mike has been a breeze. As of today, a few key items have sold at rates we could not have gotten on our own with our lack of knowledge and no access to the retail market. Mike immediately made contact with me following each sale and we received our portion of the proceeds right away through our PayPal account. Mike seemed as pleased and excited that we moved pieces as we were and he helped us realize the good homes Grandma's furniture was heading to for more years of enjoyment. Some of our upholstered furniture items needed some TLC, refinishing & re-upholstery. Mike gave those items new life with beautiful upholstery and he sent me pictures to see; the family unanimously agreed, he has exceptional taste and a good eye for what will be attractive in the retail market. It is fun for us to see that a bit of great-grandma's stuff will go on & have a new life somewhere else. The bottom line...working with Mike at The Hunt Vintage was and still is an exceptional experience. He's salt of the earth, in our opinion. These days it is hard to get good service & feel like you are working with a decent, trustworthy person. I just can't say enough about how Mike has proven to be that kind of rare individual! Went in here a few times and never had a good experience - unhelpful, uninterested staff and mediocre selection. Their knock-offs are cheap and flimsy for the ridiculous prices they charge and the vintage stuff is either gaudy or in very poor shape. Some items on the floor hadn't even been cleaned (drawers full of junk, dusty and sometimes even broken). Overall it seems like one of those classic gentrification side-effects where you get charged way too much for the idea of the thing, when the actual thing is definitely not worth it. Can't speak highly enough about The Hunt. I've poked around every month or so, and I finally found my dream lounge chair on my last visit. A few weeks later, the cat decided to make an unbelievably well-placed & deep scratch along the arm. Clearly she had been plotting against the latest addition to which I'd been giving too much attention to. I emailed Michael asking what type of stain had been used when they refinished so that I could have it repaired somewhere. He wrote back offering to fix it on the house. My friend bought a beautiful credenza from here so when we were on the hunt for one of our own, we had to check it out. I called to make sure that the yelp deal for 10% off with a check in could be applied to expensive pieces of furniture and Michael said of course. He also was very open to further negotiation for an even deeper discount if necessary. We went to the store, found the perfect credenza, and negotiated up to 20% off for paying cash and buying on the spot. This was such a steal because every furniture store was selling large wooden credenzas for, on average, 3 times what we purchased ours for at The Hunt. Michael is funny, approachable, helpful, and is someone I am happy to bring business to. Note that this is a vintage furniture store and mostly everything is pre-owned and in good condition. They also build custom vintage furniture (medium sized credenzas among other things) upon request. read more

My husband and I stopped by this spot while we waited for our pupusas down the street. As we looked around we feared that we would fall in love with something that would be way out of our price range, which is typically the case with vintage furniture stores and especially in the fast growing community in Highland Park. However, the owner greeted us with a relaxed attitude and casually mentioned that the prices were negotiable. This made us feel more open to exploring the place with an open mind. Despite having no intention of buying anything, we asked about the gorgeous Danish teak wood, mid century dinner table with extensions. We seem to be growing out of our existing dining room table and we've been discussing getting a new one. The table didn't have a price tag on it so we asked about it, mostly to get an idea of what something like that would cost us for the future. Let's just say that once he said the price we rushed to the ATM and immediately came back with cash in hand to prevent him from changing his mind. The deal wasn't "good for a vintage store," it was good in general! I can't stop staring at it and am sitting at it now as I write this review! This beautiful table is the first piece of furniture that we have bought as a married couple and of this table is any indicator of what our marriage is going to be like then I know we're luckier than most!
