Be careful what they quote you vs what they actually charge you. Don't fall for their scam.

Horrible company to work with on renting. It was the worst experience I've ever had working with this company on rental equipment. I had to wait almost 2 hours for them to load up just 10 feet of scaffolding and then when I returned it, I waited for half hour and nobody came out to help me unload it so I unloaded it myself and went into the office and they got mad at me for unloading it myself And not getting a ticket from one of their guys. When I got there, I went into the office and they said they were gonna send somebody out to the unloading area no one ever came. Another time I rented from them a petty bone and it was going to rain for about a month and there was no way for me to use it so I told him they could either come pick it up until the rain stops or they could leave it but not charge me because there's no way for me to use it so they said they would just leave it there and not charge me. Then when I turned it in they charged me extra not for that month, but at a higher rate than I originally was quoted on my agreement. They said their manager made a mistake on the pricing and that it was higher now. I said how does this affect me? I had already rented it and agreed to the price that was on the contract. So I figured out the price that I should be paying and came in and paid the balance they told me that I owed more and that they were going to sue me for the rest. I asked to talk to the guy who rented it to me and he had quit and moved on, and then I noticed that every single person in the office was different and everybody quit or moved on or was fired not sure what happened. But obviously they have a lot of problems with this company. The one I used was the one in the San Fernando Valley, California. Good luck if you guys ever rent from them. The biggest problem is, they have a lot of things in stock to rent that most people don't have so sometimes people are forced to use them only because it's available nowhere else. read more

The Bobcat they rented me was brand new but they put worn out undersized tires on it and it was very hard to grade anything with it. Then I get my credit card statement and with no warning they add $150 charge. I asked for it to be reversed and all I got was only the manager can reverse it and he is out. We'll call you. You cannot trust Sun Belt Rentals. I'll update this review if they reverse the scam charge. Stay away! read more

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Robert for his unparalleled customer service. I needed a log splitter this past weekend and sunbelt was all out. Robert took my number and said he would let me know if one comes back early. I thought to myself there's no chance this dude calls me. Guess what, he did!! Further he called me when they were about to close for the weekend and made sure it was cleaned up and full of gas. This place is surrounded by day laborers (25+) Business needs to do something about it. If you park on the outside of the property, be prepared to be swarmed by them when u walk inside. Other than that, the process of renting the equipment was fast and easy. They had what I needed and it did the job. read more

I called in a day before I was to pick up to make sure they had the equipment I needed. They confirmed that they did. Went in the next morning to pick up and it turns out that they did not have it. Since they didn't I had to rent more and bigger equipment which cost me 4x's more money. They were not willing to work with me on it at all. Ended up being done with what I had rented a half day earlier than anticipated and when I brought it in I figured maybe we could do a half day. They refused and charged me for a whole day on it. read more

A-V Equipment Rental is always fair priced. They have just about EVERYTHING. From the heavy bulldozers to utility trailers and any tool you can think off. Sewer train cleaners, you name it, they have it. They are extremely honest. I have known Mike and Don the owners since we were classmates in high school. I never heard either of them become angry or talk bad of anyone. I know them well and they would NEVER DO HARM TO ANYONE. The employees respect the owners. That is ALWAYS a sign of a good business. These idiots don't know what they're doing and wasted three days of my time. My truck has a tow rating of 9000+ pounds and after committing over the phone, when I showed up they refused to rent me a car carrier trailer as agreed. They did agree to a tow dolly, but after hooking up a tow dolly to my truck, the lot boy changes his mind and takes it off, telling me (in technical terms "this is only for small cars. A guy with a Chevy Aveo broke the axle on this". I was planning to tow a Jeep wrangler, with a GVRP of only 3760 lbs. Penske for example rates their tow dollies at 4700lbs for the towed vehicle. Even the cheesy light weight tow dollys from Northern Freight are rated for a towed vehicle GVRP of over 4,000 pounds. After my run around from AV Equiment rental's incompetent staff-it was too late to get to my destination before it closed for the weekend. Now I lost a weekend with my new vehicle. THANK YOU FOR RUINING MY WEEKEND AV EQUIPMENT RENTALS! GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!!! read more

I don't think these people know what customer service is. I ordered a refuse bin from them and the guy showed up 2 hours late, didn't even give me a phone call, we had arranged for them to be here at 930. In the meantime, the traffic control and all the workers were sitting around wasting money. Well I called them back to get another bin delivered, giving them the benefit of the doubt. The guy tells me it's going to be an extra 240 dollars " delivery charge" for going where I originally told them it would be going, he said they didn't think it was that far. You would think after screwing my whole day up that maybe it would be smart to waive the fee on this one. I don't recommend using them for anything if their going to give service like that. read more

After being told a piece of equipment was available, I drove out to get it and was then told I couldn't rent it. It was there. They SHOWED it to me, but wouldn't rent it. So thanks for the wasted trip. Long story: I called on two separate days, speaking with two different people, to ask about renting a piece of equipment. I was told both times it was what I needed for a particular job and was available. Once I drove out there I was shown the exact thing I wanted to rent, but told I couldn't rent it. WHY? Apparently they didn't have all the "parts"...I think. The gentlemen helping me out changed his reasons a few times, like he was just saying things to get me to go away. I almost would've been more satisfied with a bait-and-switch to a more expensive rental or something. At least then I'd have the equipment I needed. But to get a shrug and a lazy apology? That's pretty awful. They appear to be the only game in town so I'm sure they're not hurting by losing one customer. Nevertheless I wanted to share my experience. Turns out Home Depot also rents the piece of equipment I want. So that's where my money is going. read more

The service upon arriving was top notch, the paperwork, simple and straight forward. Saturday, the equipment was delivered clean and ready to go! The price for the equipment was beyond fair and even the $90.00 drop off and pick up could not be money better spent! They do it all for you! We occasionally need to rent large equipment like mini excavators for projects around the home and garden and we have always rented from AV Equipment. Recently I needed an aerial lift to trim and remove some trees that are close to our house for brush clearance. AV Rentals delivered the lift well in advance of the scheduled delivery time (better early than late!). All was going smoothly until the engine cut out on the lift a couple of hours into the job and left me stranded about 30' off the ground. The lift had an auxiliary battery power which allowed me to get back down to the ground. After explaining the situation to the staff on the rental desk, they picked up the lift (again, on time and as scheduled) and issued a credit once they had inspected the returned lift and confirmed the problem. While it wasn't helpful that the equipment broke down before we could finish the job we'd rented it for, it is good to know that AV Equipment Rental stands behind their products and service and provides great customer service. read more
