FYI : Men are not the only humans capable of completing carpentry projects. Eventually I worked with a friendly person in the lumber area but they didn't have what I needed. I thought going here would be better than Home Depot and Lowe's but it wasn't , not for me anyway.

INSPECT YOUR LUMBER ORDER - POOR EXCHANGE POLICY…read more 1st experience using this lumber yard. Our contractor recommended them instead of the big box store. We received our lumber order on December 7th, just before the holidays. My contractor inspected the lumber after the 6 day period, which was stored in a secure area from weather conditions. Upon inspection, over 50% of the lumber was unusable. If it were only a few bad pieces, it wouldn't have been an problem. We received lumber pieces with bows, warped twists, humps, bends, huge knots, missing edges, etc. Our contractor had to use pieces that were not the best. As you can see in one of the images, there's a huge knot in the lumber. We called Thomas and asked them to exchange the bad lumber with just good, straight, and true lumber. Deanna declined our request because the inspection was done after their 6 day period. We planned to order additional lumber for planned projects; however, we will stick to other lumberyards and perhaps the BIG box stores that offer a better exchange/return policy

There was no one…read moreworking in the electrical department, so after waiting for a long time, I went to the cash register to ask for help. A person who identified himself as the store manager said he could assist me. Before going to the store, my electrician had texted me a supply list clearly stating #2 cable. While in the store, the manager went to the machine, selected a cable, and said, "Are you sure? This is a big cable." I asked him directly if it was #2 cable, and he said yes. I explained that this was what the electrician requested. Because the manager continued to say the cable was "big," I called the electrician while standing in the store, and he again confirmed that we needed #2 cable. Based on the manager's confirmation, he cut the cable, and I completed the purchase at 12:23 PM, as shown on my receipt. When I got home, the electrician immediately told me the cable was not #2, but 2/0 cable, which is significantly larger and more expensive. My wife returned to the store with the cable while I stayed to help with the installation. The same manager refused the return, stating there were no returns on cut cable. I did not make a mistake -- the store manager did by selling me the wrong cable after confirming it was #2. Despite having proof of the requested size, the store refuses to issue a refund, and corporate has been no help. Be aware: not even a store manager seems to know what they are selling.

UPDATE: I ahe to update this review based on a customer service experiance i had in store. I went…read morein to get some poajt samples mixed again. Ended up spaking with one of the mangers, a Mitch for an extended period of time. He could not have been nicer. I mentioned that one of the samples I had purchased two days prior was both not mixed completely, not was not the correct color - it was WAY off from what it should have been despite the label being correct. He comped me one of the samples I went into for that day as compensation, making the botched one essentially free, which I was not after but I appreciated. However the real customer service came in when I got to my car and could not find my phone. I am a content creator and work primarily from my phone. So loosing it is a huge hassle for me. I went back in and looked at the two places I had been - the paint counter and self check out. Not there. Mitch saw me, apparently looking frantic and stopped me to see if he could help. He proceeded to walk me all over this store. Got another manager involved who affered to check security footage. There was a woman working the customer service desk (I believe her name was Dana but I may be wrong as this was a few days ago) who immediately offered up her personal Iphone so that I could log into my findMy iPhone and let me walk all overt the store and out to the lot with her personal phone. It innitally could not find it so we all assumed my phone had been stolen. But then it came online. We were able to locate it 0 it has somehow fallen out of my car and behind the back wheel without my hearing that (how I have no idea) but the whole process took 20ish min and Mitch and Dana completely dropped what they were doing to help me. They did not have to do this and it was gracious of them to do so. Made a Lowes customer out of me for life. I am so thankful. Original review (3 stars): Generally staff is friendly and helpful. That's really all I want or need when in store as a DIYer who doesn't look like someone who is completely renovating their home most by themselves. No condescension or sexism experienced which as a woman is sometimes (read *often*) a problem at home improvement stores

No weird jabbing comments, no sexism (which is a big thing I deal with a petit blonde woman who doesn't look like the typical customer, or like she does a lot of DIY construction) Defiantly have never once had a bad experience with anyone here and will continue to return.

Ace Hardware: My Home Improvement Oasis I've shopped at the…read morebig box giants--Lowe's and Home Depot--plenty of times, and I always leave feeling like I just wandered the Sahara without a map. Endless aisles, zero help in sight, and somehow they're still out of the one obscure fastener I need. Then I discovered my local Ace Hardware, and it's like someone turned on the lights. Yes, it's smaller. Way smaller. But that's exactly why I love it. The store is compact, logically laid out, and--miracle of miracles--they actually stock the things regular homeowners need on a random Saturday afternoon. Specialty screws? Check. Odd-sized plumbing fittings? Got 'em. That weird little part for a 20-year-old lawn mower? Yep, right there on the shelf. What really sets Ace apart, though, is the customer service. These folks act like they genuinely want to help you finish your project. I've had employees walk me straight to the exact item, offer advice on the best product for my specific job, and even suggest clever workarounds when I was trying to MacGyver something together on a budget. No paging someone over the intercom, no "that's not my department," just real, enthusiastic help from people who seem to enjoy what they do. If you've ever felt lost and forgotten in the cavernous aisles of the big chains, do yourself a favor and swing by Ace Hardware. It's not the biggest store in town, but it's absolutely my favorite. Helpful, convenient, and always in stock with what I actually need. Five stars, every time.
