I had a landscaping project completed by this company a few years ago but am just now writing this review because I felt an obligation to warn people about their business practices. Each time I walk outside my front door, I am reminded of how much money I spent in getting my front yard landscaped only to have been ripped off by what I thought was a reputable company. I would submit pictures, but I'm actually too embarrassed to even share them online. For all the time and money I invested, I should've been proud of this small project. I expressed my disappointment at the time everything was installed, but they could've cared less. Today, the plants that survived are not healthy and neither are the trees. I would NEVER recommend this landscaping company to anyone IF they want a professional job. I question whether this company actually employs licensed landscaper architects or your run-of-the- mill high school student. If you would like a mediocre landscape job, then Sunburst will not disappoint you. read more

Your records have it under my husbands name. We did contact your company immediately about the crazy layout of pavers, and that was (kinda) taken care of. A few weeks after that was done I noticed the pavers on the other side of the house was not level, actually looked like a mound. I didn't see it until I was in the pool. Since my husband was so frustrated after the ordeal with the last "warranty" issue, I had to email the rep. By the time I emailed we were about 30 days completion and was told no more warranty. Worked with AJ V from Sunburst, he came out and gave a quote and explained how the pet turf worked and answered all the questions I had. He kept notes of some of the specifics about how the turf would be leveled etc., and even had the crew who came out to lay the turf also clean up a small flower bed and lay weed barrier without an extra charge. AJ was great to work with and was always very responsive and professional. The crew was fantastic as well. Ismael was the crew lead and we spoke very briefly before the work began. When I would begin to talk about what I had told AJ (and that AJ noted) Ismael already knew what I was referencing and knew what needed to be done- it was easy to tell he and the crew had prepared for the job and did their homework. On top off that, they worked very fast, cleaned up completely, and made sure there wasn't anything else I needed adjusted etc. Ismael's crew was some of the best I've seen and can't recommend him enough. Working with AJ and Ismael was so easy, and it was a really great experience overall working with Sunburst. Definitely recommend AJ, Ismael, and Sunburst for landscaping projects. read more

10/2017 Mark at Sunburst helped us to complete our yard after Dolphin Pools put in our pool. After getting multiple quotes from a number of different landscaping companies we, with confidence, went with Sunburst based on their reputation and outstanding customer service and warranties. Our original design and quote was in the realm of unrealistic. However, Mark explained that his design is based on the "best" money can buy. From the estimate, we pared it down to a more reasonable cost for the project based on our needs. His original design did not disappoint. We would have loved to pay top dollar for what he really wanted to do to the backyard but until we win the lottery we went with a more reasonable project cost. The yard came out beautifully and we can call them anytime to upgrade or add as time goes on - cost permitting of course. We highly recommend Sunburst at this time. Something to keep in mind is that the build out does include warranties on artificial grass and living plants and foliage. We could possibly have paid a bit less from small independent cash only businesses. But, what would happen if something didn't turn out right and we needed it fixed? It's a chance you take and something we did not want to have to deal with. We will likely add to the review as we see fit. Right now the living part of the yard is still growing and taking form but we expect nothing but excellent results over time. read more

My wife and I are beyond words happy with the job this company did for us, installing pavers and turf for the dog. (Not the humans really, just the dog LOL) More than anything your install guys were absolutely amazing. I feel horrible that even after 5 days I did not even think to get their names! We really appreciated the fact that they totally went out of their way to make sure everything they did was to perfection, including giving their opinion as to what would look better as a finished project with our odd shaped yard instead of just doing what was "on the paper" just because it was on the paper. In addition, they relocated a drip line that was too close under the end of where the turf was running to avoid any future issues. This was not their problem since they didn't install it. But they went above and beyond what would be expected. Needless to say.. we have recommended your company to everyone who has commented on all the pictures we have posted as we (and mostly the dog) are so happy with the finished project. Also glad there were some leftover turf scraps, as I have had numerous people ask about the turf and I'm able to give them some to check out. We just had our lawn done by Sunburst Landscaping. It was a mess before they came into the picture. Imagine a lot of dirt and river rock. We knew we wanted to get turf put in, but we didn't know where to start. We contacted about four companies for a quote, and weren't impressed with anyone. We have a friend who lives in Oregon who owns a landscaping/turf company, and decided to contact him to have him help us sort through all the companies in AZ who provided the kind of service we were looking for. He ultimately recommended that we touch base with Sunburst Landscaping because of the quality of product they use. We got in touch with them and started working with Rusty. Rusty did a great job helping us come up with ideas that would fit our budget, but that would also look amazing. He listened to the ideas we had, and gave some great ideas of his own. He was the only salesman we spoke with that we didn't feel like was trying to nickle and dime us. The crew that came to install our pavers/turf/plants were incredibly professional and completed the job within the time frame they originally gave us (something that doesn't hardly happen in the home improvement world I have learned). And after they were done, they didn't leave any trace that they had been there... besides a beautiful yard!! Our yard looks incredible!! The before and after is amazing!! Beware. This company uses inferior material. Within the first year they had to return to adjust and add to the plants that weren't getting adequate supply. The new irrigation system failed and plants were lost repetitively . Response from company.."sorry, beyond the one year warranty" Since then I have replaced or repaired the line that feeds the back from the front and many leaks. Due to leaks I've lost most plants as well as my mature orange tree. Have contacted company with no reply. Do not use this company due to inferior material and poor response. read more

I was raised with the phrase that it's not how you start, but how you finish. Mark and team at Sunburst are a perfect example of that! We hired them a year ago to put in the plants and trees in our backyard, in addition to artificial turf. We had some issues over time with numerous plants and a tree dying and the sprinkler system wasn't installed correctly. But with every call, their dedication to service is evident. We tried to work with this company based on radio advertising and good reviews. My husband called two weeks ago to schedule an estimate for artificial turf. He spoke with the office person, had fairly detailed conversation, was told they were booked two weeks out. He gave his contact info, our address, and negotiated the appointment time, patiently waiting the two weeks. He called again this afternoon to see if someone was on their way as scheduled. He was told that they had no record of him calling. She said she would check with the other office person. She called back a few minutes later to tell us again that she had no records and no recollection and neither did the other person. Not so much as an apology or offer to make it right in any way. Like we were making it up! Must be nice to be so busy that they can walk away from thousands of dollars of work. We cannot speak to the quality of the product or other workers as we couldn't get past making an appointment. That was a deal breaker for us. The job wasn't a simple rectangle, and Mark at Sunburst had detailed dimensions, drawings, and pricing back to us within a day. NO SERVICE AFTER THE SALE! A couple of years ago we selected Sunburst to do an upgrade on our backyard to add their proprietary turf and replace quite a bit of brickwork. Though they were one of the higher bidders @ slightly over $25,000, they came well recommended so we went with them. The company promised that they would help maintain the look of the yard after it was completed as part of their warranty/maintenance program. This week we asked for them to return for that very reason and sent photos of the areas that needed attention. What we received back was a note that said that "they had discontinued their maintenance program six months ago" ( which was one of the reasons we selected Sunburst in the first place) and we were given another company that could do the job (but most assuredly not for free). This is a buyer's beware post as the people who come out for the bid and the gentlemen who do the actual work are all pros and you feel as if you made the right decision while enjoying your new yard. What is quite disappointing is the lack of service after the sale, so I'd strongly recommend that you get everything that they promise to do "after they leave", IN WRITING. read more

They were timely, friendly, spent time with us and went the extra mile in making sure we got just what we needed. It takes a real level of self awareness and professionalism to know what you can and can't do and be confident to let people know each. We dealt with Mark about a year and a half ago to install artificial turf in the front and sod in the back. Regarding the job in the front yard, the artificial turf has been a decent product, however, I instructed Mark to direct his installers to cut out the irrigation line behind the irrigation valve and not in front of it, leaving the valve on the line with pressure constantly on it for obvious reasons. Sooner or later the valve will fail and have to be cut out anyway. Sure enough, my directions were not followed or relayed to the installers and two weeks ago, the valve blew and guess what, the line had to be cut behind the valve and then sealed. This should have been done when the artificial turf was installed as it is common sense, but more importantly, it was the directions I provided as I had been told previously that installers cut in front of the valve because of ease and expediency. Ultimately it is the customer who suffers, so if you are considering replacing natural turf with artificial turf, make sure the irrigation valve is also removed and the line is sealed directly. Secondly, we had Sunburst replace the natural sod we had in the back yard with Bob Sod. The installers scraped out the old sod, consequently removing a few inches of top soil in the process, lowering the soil a few inches from where it was originally. Rather than replacing the top soil, Sunburst simply installed the sod, now a few inches lower than the surrounding curbing, leaving an aesthetically poor appearance but more importantly, now the sprinkler heads were a few inches above the grass rather than being flush with the ground. Not a lot you can do once the sod is already laid, except shake my head at an obvious corner cut to save time or money..possibly both. I would again think, common sense would tell you to replace what you are removing. If you are removing a few inches of top soil with removing sod, then you replace it. Oh well, I cant give Sunburst an overwhelming approval rating, not that they need it with their advertising and Rosie Romero recommendation, but I can say my experience has not been as positive as others. read more

We recently moved to AZ and I knew I needed help with the design of our backyard. I didn't know exactly what I wanted or what worked for AZ. Mark patiently provided thoughtful designs and guidance on what would and wouldn't work in our space. We went back and forth and revised numerous times. Omar was our foreman and he and his team were extremely professional and did an amazing job! The work and the finished product definitely exceeded my expectations. Omar wanted to make sure I was completely happy before completion. Once the plants were placed, it wasn't exactly what I had envisioned (which is hard to tell what it will look like versus on paper). There were too many gaps between plants and I thought that I needed more shrubs and succulents to fill in. Omar quickly made the last minute changes and made a special trip to get everything in time and placed perfectly. I have no intention of getting into a letter writing campaign and this is my last comment relating to this horrible situation. Reason for initial review was a warning to other potential customers. To those I would say check out the facts and perform some due diligence prior to doing business with these people. I will attempt to be completely factual and will not Facts as F and Opinions as O. I'm not going to provide chronological order but rather , as they come to mine: F-I didn't question quality of product until I contacted the manufacturer and was assured, unsolicited , that this WAS NOT the product installed in NFL stadiums. F- the VP of Sales (he identified himself as an owner) did come out after the issue was reported within a week, after one cancelled appointment. He told us there was an installation problem and sent a crew out which exacerbated the serious safety ( a liability for a tragic accident to a 3 year old child. The only one to use this "playground" problem attempted (FAR WORSE then we even knew ). F: VP of sales phoned days later, Thursday or Friday. to say that they could remedy the "new" problem for $1400. F: when I phoned him back and expressed that was unacceptable he told me he had to talk to the owner , who was in Mexico over the weekend and would call me on Tuesday. Nobody called and after two days I phoned them. I was told by Ms B that the man I was talking to was " only a sales guy" and the product was fine, they were pros have never in 40 years given a refund and wouldn't,under any circumstances now she also said she had seen the "pictures" and refused to visit the jodsite now. F: her ATeam crew crew came out after weeks of " we will get there when we get there. We are a large company that has been in business for 40 years and know all about taking care of customers. That's why, in , 40 years, we have NEVER given a refund. F-She had still never visited the job. F-since the minute the large nails ( think . spikes) starting with one, the 3 year old was kept off the are and out of his playhouse,--we retained many -they were the only fastening product used and totaled well over 100 )... we've retained many just in case something like this happened or she threatened to sue us... she did that to someone else whom posted a negative review. This was a 939 square foot job . Again, I wrote the initial review to share that " let the buyer beware". F-don't wish to get into a definition or nomenclature but the " playground " is a plastic $1200 ( the turf was $13000 and the amount was NEVER QUESTIONED although Ms B said " you NEED TO PROTECT YOUR CHILD!!!!..... she may have heard but did not hear virtually anything. Three 3 year old is not our son... he is our great grandson. It took 4 people , including the 3 year old, to slide the playhouse over 15 feet out of the way in anticipation of the removal of the turf by the team. F-the new team were really good people and professional and courteous under the circumstances, a far cry from the owner , Ms B. F- I will not share info and comments about them here because F- I do not trust SunBurst to retaliate against them and their families. Ms B, I implore you to not do anything in retaliation ... also no brow beating various people. O- in fact, Ms B, I encourage you to not interrogate these people as the outcome could be quite disastrous for your company, please please F- their staff's comments were enlightening. O-unethical, unprofessional group... I do not know who actually owns this business F- one good thing ... she apologized to the 3 year old. O-I believe she was sincere She , I think, she said she had 3 boys. F- after numerous " you will NOY RECEIVE A REFUND" she gave us an envelope containing a cashiers check covering the full amount Too verbose, if you are reading this ...sorry for the manner in which I write, but it is honest and is the way I talk. For the record I am a high school drop-out from Glendale AZ. Oh yeah a few more things. Ms B please drop this now and save you and your company a lot of angst. I have ALL the proof including , but not limited too, photos of the real crew working. O- they will be positively devastating if shared with the public F-also you questioned my integrity and misstated almost every facet of this debacle F-previously shared I have all the proof and documentation. We wanted to have something that would be far easier to maintain, after constant dog use had caused discoloration of our slate and created an odor issue. I can't begin to tell you how pleased I was with Sunburst. Karlan of Sunburst gave us great ideas as to exact placement and design and a thorough explanation of the product. We had been planning to have our backyard relandscaped for the past year and had started working with another landscaping company in January of 2017. That company was terrible at communicating with us and even failed to show up for a scheduled appointment. We tried for 3 months but finally had to give up on them. We contacted Sunburst Landscaping in early November of 2017 and got a visit from Mark Gabbard a short time later. He came to the house and spent a good deal of time talking with us about our plans and about how much we could spend on the project. He had some excellent thoughts about different ideas that we hadn't thought of and also spent a good deal of time measuring our backyard. About a week later, Mark sent us a backyard design he had come up with along with pictures of all the plants and pavers. He also sent a detailed breakdown of materials to be used and the cost for each. We were very pleased with what he came up with and agreed to start the project as soon as possible. There was a slight delay in starting our project but Mark called often and kept us informed of when we could expect them to start. That was a welcome change from the previous company we had attempted to work with. When the crews started our re-landscaping, they couldn't have been better! James and his crew arrived ready to work and I never saw them taking any unnecessary breaks. They worked hard and always left our yard in good shape when they left for the day. James was always willing to stop what he was doing and talk to us when we had questions about anything. Filled out their contact form this morning for them to give me a call about a paver driveway extension project I am planning on doing for a home my wife and I just purchased. Mind you, they are on belgard's master list as experts. I also asked if they could provide assistance in a pre existing sprinkler system that is a bit crazy in watering. I got an email response this afternoon they are only taking project dealing with turf and that unfortunately they really only provide assistance in system that they install. We just bought a new home and wanted a customized, long lasting, low maintenance yard. This company did it all and everything in the time expected. They were also very good at communicating throughout the whole process! We had turf, pavers and gravel put in. Us and our two big shepherds LOVE it! Had pavers and fake turf installed at my house. They did an awesome job and everything looks great. My only complaint is 3 days after the job was completed, I received a call stating that my windows reflect sunlight into specific spots in the grass and this may burn or fade the grass. I might have to install windows shades to reduce the glare and any damage caused by my windows is not covered under their warranty. This should have been mentioned up front instead of after everything was completed. read more

I recently contacted Sunburst landscaping to see about having them do a remodel of my backyard. Mark came out and met with me about my ideas. After conferring with him I decided to go with Sunburst. Mark provided me with a couple design options and was quick to take my suggestions to change a few ideas. He also assisted with suggestions of why some of the ideas might not work based on his experience. He also suggested why certain thing would be more ascetic then others. I appreciated his advice and help and how he still took my thoughts and wants and incorporated them into the design. After I agreed on a design a installation schedule was set. James and his crew arrived on time when they scheduled to and the project began. Through out the entire installation the crew arrived on time, worked a hard days work on the project, and left each day by cleaning up the site for the day. James kept me appraised of what work they would complete each day and would make sure I approved of the work daily. He was very responsive and acceptive to questions and concerns about the instillation and was able to remedy those concerns. Mark also kept in contact with me during the installation. The install was completed in a very timely fashion and met my expectations. James and his crew were very professional and when I do my front yard would definitely request them. I had a number of companies come out to give me estimates on a grass to gravel conversion in my back yard. I was also interested in adding pavers and some artificial turf. Out of 5 companies 1 was a no show/no call, 1 came out twice and failed to give me an estimate, 1 forgot to include a price for the gravel (derrr) and one was comparable to Sunburst but was unable to install Easy-Turf. *Sunburst had their estimate to me within days, made changes to estimate quickly when requested and was able to accept my signed contract via email - very convenient. When I was referred to a local quarry to choose gravel an employee noticed me there and even stopped in to help in the heat of the summer (June/July). All employees working on my back yard were courteous, timely and able to answer any of my questions. My backyard was completed on time and I couldn't be more thrilled with my new low maintenance yard. *In September I had them back to convert my front yard from grass to gravel with a small wash and some curbing. My husband and I went to the Peoria location to check out the highly recommended dog turf. Went into the office area and no one was there. It was a Monday afternoon around 3 pm. No one seemed to be anywhere..as we wandered around. Finally, we called the number and left a message to call us. So far, no one has returned our call. read more

We decided to have synthetic turf and curbs installed in our back yard . I called Sunburst Landscaping Karlen came out to evaluate , and to explain to us about their product We were very impressed by the way he presented there product to us We decided to have them do our back yard. Karlen told us that Sunburst was at least 2 weeks out with there installs . We told him that it was O. K. with us, and to go ahead and put us on the install list . Then we told him that we were having guest coming in from the South Pacific to visit us . Karlen said that he was going to go back and talk to his boss and see if they could do our yard sooner . The next day Sunburst called and said that they had moved our project up, and that our yard would be ready by the time our guest arrived. Karlen was always there doing follow up work . There work crew came and finished in record time Did a beautiful job. We are so happy . Doesn't show up for appointments! We waited a week and a half for this company to come out to our home to show us the turf options because their showroom is only open Monday through Friday from 8-5, which of course is when we work. The appointment was scheduled for 9-10am. At 10:20 no one had contacted us. I called the main number and got the cell phone number for Noel. I spoke with her. She was very apologetic and said she would get right on it. I waited another 40 minutes with no contact from them. After a total of 2 hours waiting, we gave up. I wouldn't trust a company that can't even handle showing up for an appointment. Very disappointing they are the only vendor of Easy Turf in AZ. read more
