I hired Outside Living Concepts to complete my landscaping project in May 2023. Unfortunately, the drip irrigation system they installed has become a major issue. Just this summer alone, I've had to repair and replace nine separate sections of the drip line due to leaks. At this point, I've replaced roughly 50% of the entire system myself. What concerns me most is that every leak has occurred in the same type of tubing, which is visibly worn and deteriorated. I even cleaned sections of the removed tubing to make sure dirt wasn't making it look worse--the material is simply degraded. For comparison, I installed another drip irrigation system line in 2021 using different materials. Despite being about two years older than the system installed by Outside Living Concepts, it has experienced only a single leak. I understand the project is now outside of its warranty period, but I don't believe a drip irrigation system should experience this level of failure after only a few years. The amount of time, labor, and money I've had to invest to continually dig up and replace the system has been extremely frustrating. What has been equally disappointing is the follow-through. After discussing the issue, the project manager told me they would send a crew out to repair the next leak. Just two days later, another leak occurred. I immediately reached out, but now two weeks have passed without anyone coming out or any meaningful follow-up. I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision. I had hoped for better quality and, when problems arose, better customer support. Based on my experience, I can't recommend Outside Living Concepts. read more

Outside Living Concepts was responsible for the design and installation of our landscaping and Pool remodel. It took over a year. We endured many no show appointments and communication was often nonresponsive. We had family in from Colorado for Thanksgiving and the pool had just been completed the week before, and nothing worked! They hooked up the gas heater to an abandoned gas line and never tested it! They overlooked replacing the wiring and pool lights so they had to tear up the new travertine to run the power to lights. When the ground settled I had to hire someone to come in and repair it. The descents were designed to be a 3 sheets of water pouring into the pool but they lamely dribble and are an embarrassment! Many of the plants they installed died the first summer and although Todd kept saying he was taking care of it, it never happened. I would really discourage anyone from using them. Called to get a initial estimate of how much to remodel a section of our yard. Told the guy we were open to a variety of ideas as to what we could do back there, and said we were flexible with what the budget was based on what we could come up with. He said to send him some pictures of what we had, which I did the next day. Then followed up with him because I hadn't heard back in anyway and wanted to make sure he received my email etc. And told me based on their minimum and "other factors" they wouldn't even give us a bid or estimate. George made sure that Fernando's design came to be and that it was quality work. Exactly what you want. Regarding the process, I'll start with this - be patient when doing a project like this. Outdoor Living Concepts has many projects - each one is important and I suspect they treat each customer that way too. When it's time for your project, you will get the individual attention and focus. Same thing for warranty stuff - it needs to be scheduled, and sometimes it might be a couple of weeks. Be patient - the reward is great. Yes, we did run into an issue. We found out on a Friday that our very large spa would need to be delivered on the following Monday morning. The crew had not fully prepared the spot where the spa would land in the back yard, and in our front yard, they still had pavers, sand, etc, that would be in the way of the crane. I was frantically calling everyone and even reached the owner Curt. Curt, George, and Fernando all made the effort to get some of those tasks done over the weekend, and they had the crew arrive around 4am-5am on that Monday morning to get the rest done ahead of the spa install. Great teamwork and effort, and I was very appreciative. If not for this issue, I might not have ever spoken to the owner - Curt. I'm glad I did, because I see where the DNA for Outdoor Living Concepts comes from - an owner who really cares and truly wants customers to be happy. Thanks Curt! One of our trees died and a few plants. No problem at all, no arguing, no questioning, they replaced them under warranty. For our part, we waited until the 3 months was up (as they recommend) and then called and worked out the scheduling for the warranty. I did get a second quote from another company, which came in slightly higher, so we were happy with the price. Proceed with Caution. I was excited to work with this team, but my excitement diminished from the first phone call. The owner, Curt, made a comment that they don't make money on the design aspect, that they make money on the installation. That made me question the level of customer service right from the start. 11/24/2021 I then met with a designer for the second time, who was just about spot on with what I am looking for, but was vague with some details. I don't know about you, but when making a large purchase, I want to know exactly what I'm getting. After asking a couple questions, the designer pulled the sales tactic of "you can make the check out to...". That stopped me right in my tracks. This is the second time I have met the designer and the first time I saw a drawing for me to review. I was hesitant and mentioned I was not ready to write a check. The designer came back with "you can post date the check if you want". I felt the sales pressure to sign a contract that day and put down a deposit. Keep in mind that I just received the drawing and have not reached out to my HOA yet for approval. We all know how some HOA's can be and I didn't want to run into a situation where I would need to invest more money to change part of the design. A couple weeks later I received a couple text messages form the designer (12/11 and 12/15). The message on the 15th stated they were changing their pricing in 2022 and that I needed to sign before the end of the year to keep the same pricing. I didn't respond the them at first as I was dealing with the loss of someone very close to me. When I responded on the 17th, I mentioned that I have not yet heard from my HOA and mentioned I put everything to the side while I was (am still am) dealing with my loss. I also asked a question about the design just for clarification. The designer responded on the same day and answered my design question and then said "Please let me know if you would like to sign this Saturday, tomorrow, because I'm leaving to Disneyland for 2 weeks and I'll be back until the first". There was no customer service there. No "I'm sorry for your loss". Sign tomorrow or prices will be raised. I was in Sales for a long time and never pushed a client of mine like this to sign a contract. Sign tomorrow or lose out? That was a let down. I'm so glad I never signed a contract with them or gave them a check (post-dated or not)! read more

We hired OLC Labor Day weekend 2019 for a backyard remodel. We wanted a patio build onto the house with a fire pit off the patio and desert landscape installed. We were told the project would take approximately 4 weeks to complete but the actual timeline was closer to 9 weeks from start to finish. The work turned out great, we were very impressed with the outcome but the lack of communication on the timeline, changes made to the plans without telling us, and the fact that the painter (Dave Logue) still hasn't come back to touch up the final parts of stucco (over 2 months after the project was complete), is very frustrating. We are understanding people and definitely know that timelines are hard to stick to in construction but the frustration comes from the lack of communication. - They planned for 4 pillars on the patio design but only dug 3 holes because the city approved 3 instead of 4 pillars. Totally fine, but send us a text message or email so we don't think the crew is making a mistake. - The patio was supposed to have 2 walkways that connect before going to the fire pit, but they did 2 walkways to the fire pit. Again, probably looks better this way but would have been nice to know in advance. - Your team is overbooked and can't get to the project until later in the year, we UNDERSTAND IF YOU SHARE THAT INFORMATION. But the entire time, we were not told anything and just left wondering when our backyard will be done with construction. The best part though, our neighbors behind us, contacted the same company and had the EXACT SAME patio installed in 2-3 weeks time when we had to wait 9 weeks for ours to be completed which it still isn't because we can't get the painter (Dave Logue) to come by and paint since he's already received his cut of the money. If the communication and helpfulness of the team would have been better, this would have been a 5-star review but the fact that we still can't say our backyard is complete after 4 months, it's very irritating. read more

I had an outstanding experience working with Outside Living Concepts. Lee Eriksson was out to see me just a couple of days after I reached out to them...and I have been incredibly pleased. From the first interaction, I knew it would work out just fine. Lee listened closely, had awesome ideas, and drew up an outstanding plan very quickly. While my project ended up being expensive, the costs he quoted were very reasonable for the scope of work. The best part is that it was an all-in deal, with construction, masonry, plants, and artificial turf. And each piece was done exceptionally well. Were they perfect? Absolutely not - no contractor is. We hit the same snafus in scheduling and materials availability as any other project would. But Lee was flexible, creative, and responsive throughout. While it may have been frustrating to some, I was just glad someone was there to help make it all work out just fine! I've had experiences where that wasn't the case over the years, so I really appreciate it now. Would I use them again? Totally. I contacted Curt, he called me back the next day and asked me about our project. His second question was "What is your budget?" I explained around $10k, but that I understand it may end up being more. He said "$10k is our very minimum and anything less is not worth our time, we don't make any money off a project like that." Well not the most professional way to have said that, but fine... I stated we were content to pay over $10k but that's what we were looking to start off around. We were looking for grass, a fire pit and some walkways and border, no pool or BBQ, etc. He told me a few more times that it may not be worth his time and anything less than $10k wouldn't be. I wasn't sure why he kept saying that because I told him we were willing to pay $10k and up to $13k... Anyway, he made me feel like I was wasting his time but said to send pics and measurements anyway, which I did. To which he replied he declined to bid the job. If a $10k job isn't worth your time, fair enough, but find a way to be a little more professional. read more

Be careful ! They tried overcharging me over $2000 until I caught the mistake and brought it to their attention. Also, when they tied into my water line for the drip system, they cracked the existing pipe. Not until several days when I noticed alot of standing water in my front yard did I discover what they had done. They refused to fix it. They said it was already broken. Outside Living Concepts recently completed a large project: completely rebuilding our back yard (except for the pool and spa). WOW! What used to be a dull, outdated, blah back yard is now a showcase. OLC built us a new fire pit, barbecue island, gorgeous water feature, an incredible pergola and beautiful pavers. The pergola in particular has been not only beautiful, but also functional. I provides shade over the pool very early in the afternoon, which will keep the pool water from getting too hot during the heart of the summer. We don't have to pay to vacation at resorts any more because we have our own! Oh - and OLC's planning process before the project was amazing. They never tried to force us into a decision, but were very helpful in making suggestions and letting us know what options were available to attain our objectives with the remodel.
