I visited Sundance Square on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020. It was in the early morning. Literally, nobody here. Due to the pandemic, it is hard to get together. I read other reviews on Yelp. My husband and I took a trip to Fort Worth recently, and stayed in Sundance Square. We stayed at a hotel here and spent an evening walking around looking at the shops and different bars. Several were closed unfortunately, though we did go on a Tuesday so it may have been the mid-week early nights. The Christmas tree square was beautiful and there was a great mix of local shops and bars as well as chain places like CVS and Starbucks that you can get anything you may need. Overall it was a great place to stay with a lot of places to visit, including a dueling piano bar that was closed, and we would have loved to go there given the chance. read more

Went to see The Emerald City Band last night and let me tell you they were great! They had everyone dancing and singing and getting on their feet! Although there were a lot of people in attendance I saw plenty of workers keeping the area clean. I also saw quite a few police officers patrolling the area. The band is back on May 25th in the same location. The band starts at 7 pm but I would suggest arriving earlier to get a table. If you arrive later you would be smart to bring your own chairs. You can purchase food to go from one of the local restaurants and eat it at one of the tables by the stage. We bought a bottle of wine from In The Sack but they had a vendor selling Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Starbucks allows you to use their restrooms or you can use the public restrooms that are located near Del Friscos grille. read more

Although there weren't any particularly huge events going on at the square while I was visiting. The sheer atmosphere is enough to enjoy a whole morning/afternoon here. This place is a must for anyone visiting! Have a picnic, read a book, join morning yoga, and more. I walked around downtown for several hours just soaking up the local boutiques and sampling food at various places. I found myself continuously ending back at the square just to see what else was going on. Once yoga was done, they turned on fountains that come out of the ground. I wish my kids would've been with me because it would've been the highlight of our trip!!! I would actually visit Ft Worth again just to see a big event held at the square! Such a neat area. I came out to Fort Worth one weekend for a friends wedding. Luckily they had all the Christmas festivities going on. This was so much fun! My kids got photos taken with Santa, the lights took me back to childhood Christmas time and it just felt like everyone was having a blast. read more

Loved everything about Sundance square! The music, the seating, the giant umbrellas, the lighting, and the atmosphere of the people enjoying it whether at night or during the day. The fountain was roped off and we couldn't figure out why but it wasn't particularly hot enough for people to want to run through them. Maybe they're only open in the summer? Great place to get a late night scoop or two from Melt and hang out at the tables enjoying the evening. read more

I am loving the renovations they have made to Sundance Square. It seems like every time I am in town I venture down to meet up with people. Downtown Fort Worth has been turned into a beautiful place to hang out with family and friends. The open area in the center is perfect for all types of events, the holidays or just being outdoors. There are things to do for all ages. It has been transformed into a desirable place to be and it makes me so happy to see the town I grew up in keeping up with the changes and being innovative! I would absolutely recommend visiting during the holidays to check out all the decorations and the huge, gorgeous Christmas tree they put up! read more

I love Sundance Square. It is absolutely beautiful and nearly perfect in every way. I cannot thank the Bass family enough for giving this as a gift to Fort Worth. There are multiple locations where you can park for free using their valet service. They only ask two things: one is to patronize a local merchant to get your parking valet ticket validated, and the second is to tip the valet attendant. Not a bad deal for being able to drive right up against the square and drop your car off. Another aspect of the valet service that is really nice is they send you a text message. When you are ready to retrieve your vehicle, you click on a link and tell them your location. The car shows up at a nearby valet booth in just a few minutes. Very convenient. They have a nice water feature that is available in the warmer months during the days that allows anyone to walk through it to to get wet. Allowing the public controlled access to this feature was smart, especially in the heat of the day. It is a nice personal touch for a family, friends, or a person who is getting overheated during 100° days. The awnings that open up on one side are magical to me. I find myself drawn to them in ways not typical for myself. I love the design, lines, the colors, and the execution of their look. Just classy all the way around. The chairs and tables are nice and complement the overall ambience. The lay out is roomy and people watching here is a joy. A present yet subtle aspect of Sundance Square is the security team and the cleaning crew. They keep this place clean, making sure that there is no mischievous behavior, and allow for us to all relax in a safe wonderful environment. A stage on one end is utilized infrequently for special events. It is laid out well. Thoughtful music that is timeless is piped through speakers suspended in varying locations and brings a welcome smooth touch with a clear background sound. There are a nice assortment of restaurants, coffee shops, chocolate stores, and other fun places to visit within just a block or two. Walking past and enjoying the two absolutely over the top angels on the side of the Bass Performance Hall is an absolute must for every single person who has ever breathed air on the planet Earth. If you haven't done this at sunset, you have not lived. The view of the courthouse from the center of Sundance Square is simply phenomenal. The culture and look Fort Worth incorporated into the environment is top notch. A digital clock, that looks mostly like an antique, on top of a building overlooking the square, displays brightly at night. It is used during New Year's eve in a different capacity to display a countdown at midnight. An absolutely magnificent mural that captures the spirit of Fort Worth by depicting the Chisholm Trail looms large on the side of one building. This happens to be my only thought where the Bass family and Fort Worth could improve. As an avid photographer, there are two rather large metal poles wrongly placed 20 feet in front of this magnificent mural. These poles hold up lights and sound equipment disrupting the view of the mural. The light and sound equipment could be easily moved to the top of this same building and clear the way so nothing obstructed the view of this stunning mural. The design of the Square has many natural features inviting the public to slow down. Benches and chairs are plenty, along with varying flat surfaces that invite one to sit down for a while, stop, and enjoy life for a bit. Walking through the surrounding areas of Sundance Square is a must for any visitor to Fort Worth. It is something that every person who lives here should do several times a year. Fort Worth is a steady growing improving cultural center for North Texas and embodies the very spirit of adventure and old west charm that has existed for many decades. Sundance Square and downtown Fort Worth are, in my opinion, the epitome of the jewel in the crown of North Texas. Sublime in every way. read more

Sundance Square has been a part of my life for many, many moons now. Born in Fort Worth and raised in the mid-cities, you know I've been here countless times for one reason or another. And does anyone really need a reason to hit the square? No! Just go to walk around, window shop, people watch, enjoy the mix of historical and brand new architecture, have a cocktail or coffee or tea, and of course - eat! The new renovations are beautiful and practical. The main plaza is so spacious, sparkling clean, and inviting. During the day it's like a giant bright and beautiful patio (with some gigantic amazing umbrellas for shade), and at night the umbrellas, dancing water fountains, and several trees are illuminated with gorgeous color. It's simply a lovely space, and there are so many great restaurants that give you prime plaza views! There is so much to do here... Eat at one of the many awesome restaurants or bakeries, get a drink at your choice of excellent bars, go on a cowtown cycling tour while you drink beer, see a movie, catch an improv show at Four-Day Weekend (hysterical), visit an art gallery, shop, whatever. You can do it all here in this beautiful square. read more

We had the pleasure of coming over here because of a free event I found out about. I don't really love driving away from my area but decided to take the drive to check it out. This place is wonderful and more. I could see myself coming here again for a night out. There is so much to do here. So many restaurants, little shops, historical areas. Someone told me that The Tarrant County Court house was so expensive, $409k! The town elected an entirely new County Commissioners' Court because of it. So great to get to know about the history of places. I felt like the area was super clean also, and additionally many cops on bikes for secuirty. We parked at the parking garage for free, I believe it's free on weekdays after 5pm! read more

Ft. Worth seems like it's a million miles away from me. I work in far east Funky Town, and when I first came here, I would venture out with my co-workers to the downtown/Sundance Square area after work. Those days are long gone, and now once work is over, I'm immediately on my way back to Dallas. The only time I really venture downtown anymore is for special television projects. I recently had to go there to work on a New Year's Eve show, and from the looks of things I need to frequent the area more often! I always see Sundance Square on television, but actually being there makes you really take notice of the renovations that were made about a couple of years ago. Huge umbrellas dot the square that spread open wide in the sunshine and are illuminated with colorful lights at night. The area is surrounded with tables and chairs to eat and people watch. Multiple restaurants dot the vicinity and are easily accessible. On hot days fountains shoot out of the ground and dance alongside screaming and laughing children. They now have their own New Year's Eve celebration here, and the show is pretty well done...who needs Big D NYE??? ;) Ft. Worth has always had a nice downtown area, but I really think that the renovation of the square could really be the first step to something special. Every city needs a crown jewel. Someplace that everyone needs or wants to go see when they visit. If they keep adding more shopping, restaurants, and other sight seeing destinations...Sundance Square may take the "crown jewel" title from the Stock Yards in the near future. And once the tourists start really packing the place, I will return to my practice of staying far away. LOL read more

It was a fun cover band that played music for all ages, from Taylor Swift to Michael Jackson. It was nice to end the night under a confetti shower, fire works and good music. The remodeled Sundance Square is perfect! There isn't any specific reason I went here last Saturday other than to play tourist (even though I've lived here my entire life)....but that's what makes it fun! Even if you've been down town a million times there is still one more place to eat, more more thing to see, one more coffee or tea to sip, or one more trendy bar to hop! The main Square and plaza has been redone wonderfully. It is clean and spacious. There are fountains for the kids to run and enjoy in the heat, fresh and well kept chairs and tables to sit and people watch or eat a packed picnic, and a big umbrella shaded area to provide some relief from the Texas sun. All of this is surrounded by some fun restaurants where you can sit on the patio, enjoy the action, and be all city dweller like.. (I don't know, I sort of felt like I was right out of Sex and the City..then again, I've never been to New York, so don't hold me to that!). SO MUCH FUN. Also, they have public bathrooms that are CLEAN, a nice water fountain area if you are parched and a really cool venue hall for weddings and such right in the heart of the square. Anywhere you see a red umbrella on the square is complimentary valet parking, but only if you head somewhere to eat/drink. Just don't forget to get your ticket validated at the hostess stand and some cash for a tip...because you know.. its nice and stuff! I love Sundance Square. While typically rhis is more of a gathering space than anything else they do have a few events based out of there through out the year. Christmas brings the 40 foot tall Blue Spruce, Spring brings the art fesitval, Summer has the kids running through the water jet fountain and cooling off, and many more. The best part of Sundance for me is everything there is to do around there. The business's surrounding it are all great. Many of the restaurants have patios that face it offering up some superb people watching. Sundance is more than concrete and paving bricks. It's a place to gather, a place to relax, and a place to have fun. If you're visiting Fort Worth you should definitely check it out. read more

All the years I've gone to Ft Worth for one thing or another I never made it to Sundance Square. My parents and I came to downtown to have some coffee and sweets and we walked the area. I've heard of SQ but didn't know what it was really. It's a large area that has shopping, eating and apparently concerts on certain days. I loved the vibe of it all, people walking dogs, people playing cards, taking pictures just having a good time. I even saw a proposal by the concert area. It's an interesting people watching experience for sure. I was surprised it wasn't filled with food trucks but with the many places around to eat it makes sense. I had a good time and will definitely return to explore the area more. read more

I love the new plaza. The general area I always found to be fun but since they closed off the street to make it pedestrian-friendly, added seating areas, and lined it with restaurants it's the place to see or be seen. In fact, I take my Great Dane out every so often to enjoy the people and lights. They host seasonal events, live bands play when it's nice out, security officers patrol, and it's a good alternative to a park and a beautiful, safe spot to cruise around at night. One of my favorite photographers, Brian L, constantly roams through taking shots and uploads them to his fb page. With the huge crowds it draws he has plenty to photograph and I enjoy seeing wedding parties taking a stroll, birthday groups out celebrating, and kids playing in the shooting water fountains. Whether you're entertaining visitors or exploring yourself, I think Sundance will become as much a Fort Worth staple as the Stockyards. read more

Bottom Line: Lots of restaurants and people watching but categorizing this as a "shopping center" seems like a stretch. I went to Sundance Square to kill some time and thinking it would be a fun way to kill a few hours and spend a few bucks. Come to find out, it was really kinda boring. Perhaps its because I was there on a Friday afternoon. To make the best of it, I did sit out by the fountain and do some people watching. Really, I was hoping to do some shopping but all I found was a few chains and a few too-Texas stores. Also, it seemed kinda touristy. I think if you want to go out and tie one on, this is probably a good location to do that as there seem to be lots of places to drink, eat and make merry. Also, it sounds like this place could be more fun if there was a special event going on. read more

We made this our home base when visiting Fort Worth for the day, and it really seems like that's what it was built to be--the center of the city! It's a beautiful, large square with a fountain for kids to play in, surrounded by restaurants and populated with seating areas and sculptures. We ate at the Bird Cafe, had coffee at the Starbucks, got chocolate from Schakolad Chocolate Factory and gelato from Paciugo. We took our photo with the giant angel wing sculpture and sat on a bench and watched kids play in the fountain. We strolled over to the Sid Richardson Museum and spent some time perusing the gallery, and then went just a few blocks over to see the JFK Memorial, all the while knowing that we would eventually circle back to this great square. Perhaps the only thing I didn't love was that they pumped in Top 40 hits over the loud speaker pretty much constantly, and on a 100 degree day the square certainly could have used more shady spots. But overall, it's a great place and a valuable addition to Fort Worth. read more

Sundance Square has come so far over the years that it's amazing. Way back when downtown Fort Worth was a place for business during the day but not a place you wanted to be other than that. Business types and seedy folks you never really felt safe. Fast forward many years and this place is a destination. You still have the business types and some of the seedy folks but I NEVER feel unsafe. I was commenting the other day to my husband that I was kind of surprised that we head to Sundance Square several times a month. This has become our dining and just hanging out area. read more

Great place to eat and just sit while absorbing natural vitamin D to people watch. As part of our Fort Worth tour, we walked through Sundance square. We just missed the outdoor yoga session which I heard runs from 9-10AM on Saturdays. Sundance Square, in my opinion, is more welcoming than anything in Downtown Dallas. I foolishly slept in and didn't get to the Sundance Square until 11:30am. It was a little hot, LOL! The shuttle driver told me between 2nd and 5th is the area so I looked in the shops and walked around. Lucky for me they really have tried to put trees in for some refreshing shade! HOT TIP: There is a "Molly Trolley" that goes up and down Houston Street and maybe more so you might want to take advantage of it. My favorite store was Retro Cowboy. I thought is had some original items that I didn't see in the Stockyards. The shop ladies were nice, A/C was heavenly and the prices were good. I ate at Daddy Jacks you can check out the review if you wish. I also took some pictures which are attached. I went by myself had a good time and felt totally safe. Go enjoy!! read more

Sundance Square was located at the heart of Fort Worth in the middle of shopping, eateries, and cafes. This was THE place to go for perfect people watching. Lucky for us this was walking distance from our hotel and we got to walk by everyday we were here. They have this really nice water fountain area that little kids would run around in to cool off from the warm summer sun. There are different free lance musicians playing there during the weekend which provided great entertainment. Great place for good vibes where you can spend a few minutes to several hours depending your schedule. read more

Good old DFW. Of course this is the FW part. I have to declare this is a real sweet place. I came here during a business trip and boy did I make the right decision. Before I did, the TV at my hotel kept raving about how nice Sundance Square is. A day later I got on the TRE and was amazed by the glamour SS had. I say this place is sweet because from morning to night it's open even when the shops and restaurants close. There are really nice shops and eateries around the area. I love this place at night because it's all lit up. If you go near the fountain in the morning, you can literally sleep next to it all day. The gushing water feels real calming and satisfying. There are fun things to do for people of all ages. The commercial was right, memories that last a life time are made here. Highly recommend this area. Shop till you drop, pig out or sleep all day by the fountain. read more

This is a perfect hangout spot in the DFW area, located in the heart of Fort Worth. Sundance Square can be enjoyed solo, couple and by the whole family. Lots of shopping and dining options. Parking is available in plenty (weekends and weekday evenings are free of charge). The best place to spend time is the fountain area. Great place for the kids to play around. Every week there are concerts that are listed on their website. This place is also close to the Fort Worth stockyards and Trinity River trail. Highly recommended! read more

I'm​ torn on how to review Sundance Square specifically the splash pad​. Such a cute area but who knew they had so many rules. I went there on a Saturday​ with my niece and nephews. I was unaware of the hours for the splash pad. We arrived at 12:45 and I let the kids go play. Security came and told us that they couldn't​ get in the water until 1. So we waited 15 mins in the 98-degree​ weather. Finally,​ they go splash around. Then, we were told that the​ kids need to be dressed in street clothes and not water gear and all kids must wear a shirt - for girls even over their swimsuits. At this point,​ the kids were over it. So we left and got Susie Cakes. read more

Love Sundance Square. It is a beautiful place to visit either day or night. My husband and I like to walk around after we visit the AMC movie theater. Sundance Square is also a 20 minute walk from the water gardens. The Reata is a great restaurant to visit while here - their rooftop bar has great appetizers before you catch a movie at the AMC. read more
