I LOVE the Mercantile!! It's clean and organized, lots of fun finds and various different kinds of things being sold, I saw no temu / fast fashion JUNK so super pleased with that! I also appreciate that they market themselves as a "Mercantile" and not an "antique store," as many "antique stores" sell a bunch of non-antiques which is frustrating, so I'm grateful for the straightforward and clear marketing! The tea room in the back is super cute, there'll be a separate review for that. I found a couple of darling things for good prices that I'm very excited for, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see several staff members roaming the store, with one kind woman offering to hold our items up front while we shop! Updating this review from a year ago. We had previously taken my mother-in-law to the Mercantile and she found some things she liked so for Mother's Day we decided we were gonna shop for her here. Everything I said about this place in my previous review, still rings true but they do have a lot of clothing that older women find appealing. So we found a beautiful smock blouse, long and floaty in a nice bright red and we brought it up to the counter. It was $160 plus with tax and all the girl did was wad up in a ball and stuff in a bag , but she even had to ask if we wanted a bag. Really these people don't care about what they're selling behind the counter I was appalled Do we want a bag? Did you think we were gonna wear it out? And what of the merchants there wouldn't they appreciate having their stock treated a little bit better with a little bit more respect.? read more

I don't know what makes a grown man feel the need to harass a woman with 4 children, but it was my daughter's birthday and the man behind the counter was very offended that we chose to wear a mask. It is very pathetic and sad that a grown man that works at a glorified etsy resale shop feels the need to harass an 8 year old and her siblings. We went around the store and he again stopped us on the way out to say the and belittling things to a group of children. Perhaps living his life working selling flowers and dolls to old people makes him feel insecure enough to bully children to build himself up? Regardless I hope he gets the help that he needs to live a more fulfilling existence. read more

Ate in the Tea room for the first time today. The chicken salad was superb, fresh fruit wonderful along with the pumpkin bread sandwiches with strawberry cream cheese filling. They brought out these wonderful "crispies" to snack on while waiting. Ice tea refreshing. Beautifully decorated and clean. Birds tweeting all around. Lost one star because waitress had on a dirty, torn apron, but she was friendly. New dealer, Sheri Patman has beautiful handmade wreaths on aisle 3 you must check out! Sheri also does custom wreaths. Terry, one of their workers is very attentive and willing to help the dealer and the customer. read more

i thought this was going to be an antique store but it was more like white women selling "boutique" stuff, heavily online clothes that get resold, wigs, candles/soaps. i was looking more for thrifted items. also they have a good place in here too and i have no idea what the smell was but it was not a good one to be smelling throughout the store read more

Meh... My girlfriend and I went over to this shopping / antique center after having a very tasty meal at Salsa Fuego and we were not overly impressed by this place. Yeah, it's somewhat big and the people running the booths (or working for the store) are very friendly. I do have to say that this is one of the few places where you will see people running their booths like a store (as in, like a sales associate). Some will stay at their booths and greet you, help you with purchases, etc. Overall they didn't have much for us to be interested in except for the guy selling amber pieces that contain very old bugs in it. So other then that, I don't think we would come back for a while. I don't know... with an antique store like the one on Montgomery St. so close by I can't get as excited about this place as I do there. read more

As a life long fan of antique malls I decided I had to come here after finding it on Google. If you aren't used to the area that it's in it can be a little tricky to get to. The outside has fun funky murals on it which gave high hopes for the inside. Once inside it was a mix of a antiques, tchotchkes, and two stores of women's clothing. There were also two places selling paint which I found weird as well as several booths that just had brand new seasonal tchotchkes. Overall there wasn't anything that caught my eye as a must have. It felt like it was designed for the middle age plus woman with the random things that were in it. I'm sure if that was me I'd have been estatic and I could see my mother going gaga over some of the things in there. This location also has a cute tea room but unfortunately it was closed when we went. I won't go out of my way to come again but it has things that I think other people with different tastes than mine would love. read more

Shopping can seem like an Olympic sport sometimes, like you need to cross train so you'll have enough stamina to walk the mall and into every store and to try on all of the things that have possibility. Ugh. Well, The Mercantile will solve a lot of that angst! It's a collection of tons of vendor booths under one roof, but you pay for everything at the front register. Genius! Some vendors hang out in their booths, so you can ask them questions about their current items or what/when they'll have new things. There are antiques, college logo/color items, trendy gifts and clothes/jewelry, home decor (esp seasonal), original art, and so much more. I shop here for all of my gift needs because their is something for every person/personality and at every price point. BONUS: plenty of parking read more

Not an antique mall at all. Super sad I visited several years back and found lots of antique goodies for a good price. Now this store is 90% new and boutique items. Verrrry high priced as I could imagine their booths cost a pretty penny to rent out. If your looking for an antique mall THIS IS NOT IT. If you are looking for high end (with a matching price) home decor and boutique clothing this is the place. Any one person is unlikely to be interested in all or even some of the things for sale at every booth in the Mercantile, but there are enough booths that you should be able to find at least a few things to look at that are in line with your style/interests. The setup the merchants have here is great - rent a space, jam your stuff in there, collect the money. The facility has workers who walk the floor and help customers who have any questions or need help getting something up to the cash register. The checkout is centrally located, and if you're looking to buy a piece that costs over $50 you can have someone who works there call to try to haggle (under $50 no calls). When I was in, I ended up buying an awesome leather ottoman for $50. There is a good mix of furniture, art, jewelry, clothes, proper antiques, deco stuff, and some things you'd never expect (e.g., a time machine clock). The staff were friendly and the prices at most booths were completely reasonable. If you're in the area and want to kill some time and gather some new to you things, this is a great place to do it! read more

If you're looking for serious collector items and pristine antiques, this may not be the place for you. While there are several booths that have those items, I frequent the Mercantile because of the selection of women's fashion and home accents. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The food at the Rose Garden Tea Room is always great. There are not many *great* stops for shopping on the West Side of town, but this one is worth a visit! read more

The Mercantile is under new management. The overall image is being upgraded. There are several upscale boutiques carrying a large variety of clothing from young contemporary to unique styles for all ages and sizes. The clothing shops are all established vendors. These shops have employees/ owners who are on site most days to help their clients in their selections... There are beautiful gift shops, antique shops and something of interest for all shoppers. They also have a tearoom that serves delicious food. If you haven't been to The Mercantile yet~it's a great shopping experience. read more

The Historic Camp Bowie Mercantile Antique Mall is on the 'traffic circle' of west Fort Worth. They opened about three years ago. Mind, there is nothing 'historic' about this place, it is simply part of the name. I do like the murals on the outside, which purport to show old Fort Worth, including a visit by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Regardless, my wife and I are pleased that this place opened. One, it is a very good antique mall. Indeed, whenever we come here and browse we usually find something interesting to purchase. Secondly, like many antique malls they have a small restaurant inside. Indeed, part of the reason for the 'five stars' is due to the restaurant, called The Rose Garden Tea Room. I do not know why antique mall restaurants are afraid of severing fried foods, or why they think that the average antique shopper hungers for salads and quiche. I mean, would it kill them to serve a cheeseburger or chicken fried steak? Anyway, this Rose Garden tearoom stays the course and serves salads, quiches, and some sandwiches and desserts. The saving grace is their food is uniformly excellent! My wife and I love to get the Rose Garden Variety plate ($10.95) which is a sampler plate of chicken salad, fruit, quiche (of the day), soup (again of the day) and pumpkin bread sandwich (I think turkey), served with poppy seed dressing (the foregoing list is not from memory: I looked it up on the website). The chicken salad (whether on the platter, or a salad, or as a sandwich) is always excellent. I have also enjoyed the turkey sandwich. I usually dislike fresh fruit dipped in dressing. However, their Poppy Seed dressing is fantastic. Each time I quickly demolish my fruit (all very fresh; the strawberries I had the other week seemed to be fresh-picked) by dipping it in the dressing. They make the poppy seed dressing on premises and will sell you a bottle for $7.00. On our last visit I ordered two bottles: the waiter said they just ran out, but in ten minutes they would have a fresh batch made up. Sure enough, ten minutes later he came back with two bottles with the freshest poppy seed dressing imaginable. I often will drop in just to order a bottle or two for home. The service is excellent. Indeed, the waiter we usually have joined the restaurant soon after it opened and he is always on the ball. I have not had a bad experience at this tea room. I will note that, looking at the website, there is another Rose Garden Tearoom (the original) located in west Arlington inside what used to be an antique mall but is now called The Decorator's Showcase (on W. Pioneer Parkway; I recall this as being Moore's Antiques, for those who live in the area). Both tea rooms are owned by the same woman (Helen Bowers). Google Historic Camp Bowie Mercantile, then click on the link to the tea room and you can see the menu and read her history. Anyway, I highly recommend the antique mall and then treating yourself to a lunch inside the beautiful tearoom (I see I did not describe the tearoom; it is very elegant and beautiful). This is a giant store with lots of vendors selling a huge range of merchandise. Everything from shabby chic to huge antiques to cute little boutiques exist in the space. Seriously, if you can't find at least something for everyone there, your friends are just too picky and don't deserve a gift from you anyway. :) But seriously, home decor, antiques, clothing of all types, quite a bit of antique furniture and some crafts all under one roof. Yep, just as Sammie V. has stated, the Mercantile is under new management. And that is NOT a good thing! What once was an eclectic collection of assorted vendors selling unique items has now turned almost exclusively to snotty, high-end vendors selling what you can find anywhere else in Fort Worth, at any type of upscale boutique. Honestly, what sets the Mercantile apart from Dillards, Neiman- Marcus, or Macy's? Sure there were a few really cool vendors there like the Man Cave, or the vendor selling vintage musical instruments, or the wonderful embroidery service still there, but all in all, there is not much else to set this store apart from any other store selling upscale clothing or wearable accessories, or high end vintage furniture. How many antique stores are in the Fort Worth area selling antique furniture? And heads up, the new management has taken the liberty to force out many vendors by putting limits as to what they can sell. My booth was one of them! Thru cronyism, only 6 vendors are now authorized to sell clothing and accessories at the Mercantile. No other vendor is allowed to sell clothing or accessories there. ONLY 6! There are about 150 vendor booth spaces available. But that is not the worst. The owners have hired a "consultant" to change the store around to their grand vision of retail greatness. The owners and consultant there act as Sultans and treat the employees, the wonderfully nice and pleasant folks working the sales/leasing office, the floor, the front counter, and the warehouse, HORRIBLE! As of this writing, 20 vendors have left or have been forced out (I was one of them, but we left when we were TOLD we had to start selling either antique furniture of furniture painted to look distressed) and the store now has 50 empty booths available for lease. However, the booths are not really empty. The "consultant" the owners hired has all of his or her merchandise in each available booth so it looks like the store is full and at capacity. Guess who is making the most money by having merchandise in all 50 booths? To offer a fair assessment, the Rose Garden Tea Room is exceptional. Great food, wonderful atmosphere, and great friendly service. While dining there one afternoon with my wife, our waiter was so nice and pleasant, I almost asked him to join us for lunch! I only hope the restaurant is owned and managed by different people other than those running the retail part. The Mercantile is under new management. Let's hope they change their style of running things and treat the employees and vendors better. If not, I seriously doubt they will survive. They already have received tons of bad advertising and publicity on various FB groups and chat rooms from former employees and vendors who well have the right to complain. read more

This store is a true mercantile. A little bit of everything. It is a conglomerate of many small businesses. There is a tea room, some antiques (don't come thinking antique mall), new furniture, shabby chic furniture, antique furniture, lots of home decor both old and new, art, a children's boutique and 5 women's boutiques. For full disclosure, I own one of the boutiques. Each business has its own style and pricing. You can find some really inexpensive, unique pieces and some higher priced items. I am always amazed when designers come in at the really cool pieces they find their clients. Staff can help you find what you are looking for. Staff also will help load large pieces in your car. Layaway is available which is great if you find that perfect piece but aren't quite ready for it! Remember each time you shop here, you are shopping with hundreds of small business owners! read more

Lunch today with a friend at The Mercantile's The Rose Garden. This is the tea room inside The Camp Bowie Historic Mercantile Antique Mall located at the Weatherford traffic circle in Fort Worth. I love the ambience here because of the subdued lighting and the extensive use of tiny LED lights throughout. The peripherally situated tables all have quaint little lamps on them. It makes for a very cozy atmosphere. You are treated like a personal guest by the servers. Excellent service: friendly, helpful, prompt, efficient in every way. I ordered the Loa Salad. It's a grilled chicken breast and an assortment of fruit over chilled mixed greens, topped with a generous sprinkling of chopped pecans and served with a poppy seed dressing. It was plated beautifully and delicious. I really enjoyed my lunch. Interestingly, the restaurant was busy with many diners all of which were women except for two men. The menu is basically composed of lighter fare. In addition to a nice variety of salads and sandwiches on the menu, Each day they offer One soup choice as well as only one quiche choice . I highly recommend the chocolate meringue pie that is made on site. Four stars instead of five for not having more choices of soup and quiche since that seems to be the primary type of food they have. read more

Mercantile is a fun place to go and roam. There are antiques and vintage. There is clothing if various styles including linen and bohemian. There are handmade items and new gift items. There are flea market items. Then when you get hungry, go eat at the tea room. It's one of our favorite girl days out places to go. read more

I agree...this is a mercantile! There are some antiques, but over the last few years, it has morphed into a true mercantile. In the last several months, it has come under new management and there has been an out and out shift for improvement. I love to just walk the aisles and browse. More often than not, I find something to buy. I have to single out my favorite vendor, Vickie, since her wares have beautifully contributed to the decor of my home. She has several spaces in the mercantile, with a wonderful mix of old and new, but always gorgeous! And 9 times out of 10, I begin with lunch at the fabulous Rose Garden Tea Room. I love to introduce friends and visiting family to this gem of a place! read more
