Avoid this garage for July 4th or any large event. Parking in was easy we found a spot on the 5th floor. Getting out was a nightmare. We were back to our car within 15 minutes after the fireworks ended and were trapped inside the garage for over 2 hours without moving. A group of us walked down to see what was causing the delay. This was the only garage completely backed up, with only about 3 cars exiting every 3 minutes. The exit feeds onto a small one-lane side street, and there was no police or traffic control to keep cars moving. Meanwhile, the garages across the street were emptying in an organized fashion. By the time we finally got out, the roads were completely clear. The exit design is terrible, and the QR code payment system only makes it worse. Having to create an account, enter your credit card and license plate, and pay as you exit is a terrible system for major events. Payment should be handled before exiting so traffic can flow freely. There are plenty of other garages nearby. I'd gladly park 5-10 minutes farther away than ever use this garage again for a holiday or major event. Save yourself the frustration and park elsewhere. read more

Worst parking garage (the one on first Ave and First Street next to Sundial ) I ever encountered. No signage to inform you how to pay and the one machine to make payment is glitchy creating long lines and aggravated customers. We paid at the machine and the line of cars leaving.. we have been waiting over 30 mins with no relief in site. Seems like you can pay leaving but those machines must be giving people a hard time too. Do better. Communicate with patrons and give them multiple ways to pay with machine s that work. Update: it's been over and hour.. Still waiting, apparently theirs no staff in this parking garage. We just heard from other patrons that people can't get out of the garage machines not working. read more

Sadly, the parking garage was bought by Metropolis and is now a scam. Despite signage claiming $2/hr, they charged me $15.99 upon leaving and thanks to their "innovative" system, there is no one there to help. Their email help was no better as their responses were full of typos and not actually responses to my questions.. Such a beautiful shopping Center and it was conveniently located near our hotel. You can park on the streets for free up to two hours and they also have a paid parking lot. They have many restaurants but most of those were closed when we went on August 12th around noon. We end up in a tea store that it was open and it was amazing. read more

The Sundial St. Pete has a lot of activities. We have participated two free activities here. One is Argentina Tango and the other is Lindy Hop swing dance. Both event is fun and great. You have a chance to dance with different partner. The Sundial decorated with 4 giant artificial trees for shade. There big giant Sundial in the middle tell time. This is very much one of the attraction with shops and movie theaters. The restaurants include Locale, Sea Salt, Ruth Chris, Farm Table Cucina. You also enjoy the movie at AMC theatre. The design in plan view with four trees with blue tile just shapes like river through rain forrest. The plaza surrounding the courtyard make is a shield from wind for any outdoor activity. Terrible garage and terrible owner. Trapped from 3 pm to 5 pm as their three pay machines at exit ramp are so slow. Employees refused to lift the gates and just let people go without paying to relieve the backup and carbon monoxide fumes in garage. We were trapped on 5th floor. Those above that floor were trapped longer. Don't park here if there are events downtown. You may not get out!!! read more

A very clean and modern shopping/ eating area. They also have a nice big movie theater. I like to come here for movies or happy hour. The only down side is all the restaurants and shops are pricey. It's an upscale area. I've never actually bought any clothes here because I refuse to pay $100 for a shirt, I don't care the brand. Lol. It would be nice if they had a couple budget stores in the mix. I also appreciate that they have their own big parking garage, being that parking is hard to come by in downtown. Arrived on a Saturday at 5:45 pm with no reservation but wanting to eat in the bar. The bar is huge with about 30 - 40 seats at a square bar plus a lounge area (low sofas which are more appropriate for drinks only) and 3 high-tops for two. We chose one of the high-tops. The restaurant is huge with window seating on three sides, large bar area in middle and outdoor balcony seating as well. Service, atmosphere and people watching are all 5 stars. The Caesar salad is prepared like a sushi roll. After that the chef gave a complementary palate cleanser, a pickled pepper that was not hot but woke up my taste buds. My wife had veal ravioli which was outstanding. I ordered the hamburger which was good, however, I prefer the St. Petersburger next door. Sundial St. Pete is a great open air dog friendly shopping district in the middle of St. Pete. I love what they have done to it. Previously, it was Bay Walk, which was nice, but needed to be modernized. It also had few remaining open stores. Now it is an upscale, beautiful open area where everyone can just shop, eat, and socialize. Locale Market is located here if you want to pick up some food to make, or to eat. They are also opening up a seafood restaurant called Sea Salt, as well as the Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The movie theater is also located here, as well as some boutiques where you can browse, and have fun spending money. I really like coming to this location. It's a great place to walk around outdoors on a nice sunny day. You can go to the nearby parks, the marina, window shop all the small businesses all around this area, and just sit and relax outside by the Sundial and enjoy the day and people watch. The 20 screen movie theater here is great, is has digital, IMAX, RealD 3D, and Dbox and the cost to see a show ranges by day and time, but is about $8 to $16 depending on which screen type you choose. There are several great upscale restaurants here and within walking distance, as well as small mom-n-pop shops selling jewelry, coffee, ice cream, souvenirs, and much more! The alfresco dining experience is available pretty much at all the eateries in the area. Parking can be a bit of a challenge during peak times, but there are parking garages nearby, or just make a couple laps and walk to any of the great places in this area. There could be more men's shops, and just more shops in general, as this is not a huge mall, but it is open, airy, clean, and a nice time can be had here and in the area. And if you're on a tight budget, there's still plenty you can do. read more

A quintessential St. Petersburg gem. I find myself at the Sundial more often than not on a weekend. There are three main reasons this is one of my favorite spots in DTSP. 1. Parking in the garage is only $1 on the weekends (and $1 for the first 4 hours on a weekday)! 2. The movie theater is top notch. 3. I love browsing the shops that line the plaza. 1: You'll be hard pressed to find cheaper parking in the area. Sure, you can circle around trying to find free two hour parking on the street, but if you want to skip the hassle, just park here. Even if you park here ever weekend, you'll only spend $52! (Yes, I'm a nerd and I often determine if something is worth it by calculating the yearly cost. This may be why my hairdresser only sees me a couple times a year...) I love cheap and convenient parking and this checks both boxes. 2: I'm a huge fan of this movie theater. You can grab a bite to eat anywhere in the vicinity, a favorite of mine is Locale Market, and then catch a movie. If you come on a weekday they will validate your parking (it may be an excessively complicated validation where they take a $1 off the price of your ticket and you still pay the $1 when you exit the garage, but validation is validation). They also have awesome popcorn powder so instead of going into a grease coma from excessive butter, you can flavor your popcorn with toppings such as cheese, kettle corn, etc. I loved these powders so much that I actually bought some at the grocery store. 3: If you have time to kill before a movie, or just want to do a bit of shopping, there are some fun stores to explore. Tracy Negoshian sells brightly colored outfits that scream Florida to me, Juxtapose offers hipster gift ideas, and Ansley Z Kids Co makes me wish my nieces and nephews lived closer so I could dress them in tutus and debonair bowties (I'm too lazy to mail anything). And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There is comfortable seating outside so you can lounge around and enjoy a beautiful Florida day. I really enjoy the Sundial in downtown St Petersburg. This place has everything you need all in one location. I frequent many of the businesses here including Tommy Bahamas, Locale Market & The Shave Cave to name a few. There are 2 very convenient parking garages with a short walk and is located next to where the new One St Pete building is going up. In the center of it all is a big Sundial with water features with music playing and sometimes a live local band will play in the square. Also located is a huge multi screen theater with state of the art sound/projection with an IMAX theater and one with the D-Box technology (moving chairs). Ruth Chris Steakhouse is one of the high end restaurants. My personal favorite is Locale Market where you can get anything from dry aged steaks, sushi or made to order pizzas. The shopping experience for local Florida creations is fantastic - you can find salt that was harvested from the bay to local raw honey! They have something for everyone! If you find yourself downtown stop in at the Sundial and enjoy the eclectic mix of shopping! read more

Is it just me or is the Sundial overrated? Parking is a bit of a pain in the ass, the shops are kind of generic, and security is a bit uppity. Sure the sculpture is cool, but that's the only remarkable thing it seems. There are high end boutiques all over the place, now there's just a couple more in one spot. I guess it's St. Pete's way of trying to make downtown a bit more classy? The few times I've been it felt dead, even with Locale open. There are plenty of restaurants for the movie theater and less than a handful stores that are still open here. Wife wanted to do some boutique shopping and most of the stores at the mall are shuttered. Diamonds Direct, Tommy Bahamas, White House Black Market, Jackie Z, and men's barber shop are all that are there besides the restaurants and movie theater. Not much for shopping just outside of the mall either. Lots of bars and food, real estate brokerages, and jewelry shops. That's about it! Kind of sad, really. read more

It's been a while since I've visited BayWalk... that I call it BayWalk tells you just how long it's been. Re-branded the Sundial, it city center has undergone an overhaul and is quite lovely! From its open air design, to its stunning sundial sculpture with dolphins surrounding it's base, you can tell that there's been a small fortune sunk into the over haul and its well worth it. High end shops line the promenade, A lot of restaurants have decided to populate this popular destination and of course Locale Market has finally opened, this means more foot traffic! This it certainly is a good thing for Down Town St. Pete. read more

Sundial is a much improved downtown retail and restaurant complex that is righting many of the wrongs of the former Baywalk. The design is much more open and more conducive to bringing people to and through the center core. Now that Locale Market has opened for business I expect the flow of people day and night will definitely increase. More traffic means more vitality. Three restaurants on the second floor will be opening in 2015. Farm Table Kitchen which is the upstairs dining component to Locale Market. Ruth's Chris Steak House will bring a nationally known brand to the mix and Sea Salt, which is expanding from its original location in Naples, Florida, should bring additional attention and spark to Sundial's dining options. But the retail mix to date just does not do much for me because I can either find the same shops elsewhere - Tommy Bahama, Chico's and Lululemon athletic clothing - or the new-to-the-market or locally owned shops are limited in what they offer. This is a lovely complex in the center of a lively downtown that should become a destination for food but also for other reasons that encourage spending time and spending money. Here's hoping the retail can be amped up enough to shine just as brightly as its neighboring foodie-focused businesses. read more

This place is an outdoor mall full of different shops etc; it is also under renovation so not much was going on when we made a stop at St. Petersburg. Stopped for some crepes at the Wooden Rooster across the street, took some pics, bought a souvenir and left. There was also construction going on by the piers as well. The area is mostly known for culture, museums, art so would be great for those that are heavily into those things. We easily found street parking - 2 mins walk from sundial. read more

Meh. Many people seem to say and think that this is a huge improvement over Baywalk. My question is...where are these people? Maybe Sundial is hopping Friday and Saturday night while I am at work, but it is DEAD on the times that I have visited (with the exception of Locale's opening week). Sure, Sundial is prettyish. Although on my past trip the dolphins now have ropes around them and the security guards were staring down the three visitors (including us two) that Sundial had. Let's review and compare Baywalk vs. Sundial: Baywalk - I would browse EB games and buy a video game. Then, I would visit Claire's for some earrings. This would be followed by dinner at Too Jay's or the sushi restaurant upstairs (I can't remember the name). Then I would grab an alcoholic slushie at Wet Willies before heading to a movie at Muvico. Sundial - I LOVE Locale. I browse for an hour and maybe buy an item or two. I can't afford much more than that, but I love to look. Then, I walk out and glance at the expensive food options (Ruth Chris or Sea Salt) and decide to wait until I leave Sundial to eat. Then I consider a movie, but I remember how weird this Muvico has become. It still smells like feet. However, the movies are now assigned seats, cost more and they have some weird festival movies that I have never heard of. Nope, I will wait until I get to Regal on Park and 34th St. I glance around at the other unappealing stores, nothing for me there. So I leave. I know that Baywalk was a dying plaza. People didn't want to park in a garage or on the street and walk to it. However, I still really miss it. The options were affordable. The stores were intriguing. I could actually spend money there. I think that Locale is a huge part of why this plaza is still open at this point. However, I expect the hype to die even more than it already has and I don't think this place will last either. read more

Was that it? I am a self proclaimed mall rat and this place was really disappointing. Visually, this place is great. There are lots of nice sitting areas and the sundial is pretty cool and could be a landmark. Also, the Locale Market is really nice (but soooo expensive). Otherwise, I was really underwhelmed. The stores suck for men. I know I'm probably not the target demographic, but Chico's and other women's boutique stores aren't cutting it. Tommy Bahama isn't my style at all either. Dining is really limited. There is the Locale Market's restaurant upstairs, which is somewhat reasonably priced but leaning on the expensive side, especially for lunch. Ruth Chris is a great place for steak, but it's one of those places you only visit once or twice a year. Sea Salt is expensive as well! I've never visited the movie theater here because 1) is is ridiculously overpriced for what it is and 2) I always forget about it. There are other more convenient theaters in the area that don't require me to park on the street. I'll pass. I remember when this plaza was being renovated, there was controversy because the developers said their competition was International Plaza (not the closer Tyrone Mall). I laughed then, and I laugh even harder now. Sure, they have the prices. But no department stores, no TRUE luxury stores, no Bay Street, nothing. They don't even have A/C! ;) I really don't think I'll be back anytime soon. I would say I might come on a rainy day, but oh yeah, it's outdoors :) read more

This place is looking beautiful already! I know there isn't much to review yet since many of the stores are still vacant but I can only imagine what it's going to look like come this fall. I'm excited to see Sundial, formerly known as Bay Walk undergo a huge makeover. Restaurants like Farm Table and Locale, I'm excited to try and also the salon on the corner, Marilyn Monroe spa/glamour room. Rumor has it (from a Tampa Bay Times article), there might be some restaurants owned by celebrity chefs moving in and also Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Whatever restaurant they may be, I know I'll definitely be one of the first ones to put in a Yelp review. :) Sundial is going to be a fun and beautiful place to spend time and build memories with family, friends and visitors!
