Very nice Eastern European grocery. I found all of the special ingredients that I was craving for an "Odesa Breakfast," including unrefined sunflower oil, excellent Lithuanian herring, and the rest of the fixings. I picked up some tasty deserts and bulk pilmeni as well. Everything was excellent! And the service was great too - friendly, helpful, and with a smile. I will be back! read more

I love ethnic stores that have nothing to do with my ethnicity! I wasn't sure what it was since it says "European" on the storefront, which is a whole continent! Then I saw Cyrillic letters on everything inside, but don't know enough of such languages to know whether it was Russian or something else. And, honestly, even long before the war, I knew Ukrainians and Russians might be offended if you mistake one for the other. Or, for all I know, it's Bulgarian. Anyway, they have mostly Russian items, but some regular things like cold cans of Coke. I saw a deli with all kinds of meats and cheeses, and I suppose they'll make you a sandwich. It can be intimidating if you don't know what you're supposed to know, especially when everyone else in there is Russian, they go right to the shelves and pick up what they want, and you don't even know what it is since you can't read the boxes! We just filled up at Taco Bell, so no sandwich. I just wanted to get a treat for my sweet daughter. Next time I'll go get a sandwich, and I'll just ask whoever's working there what they recommend. Can't go wrong that way! They had freshly frozen cooked foods too. There was a charming young lady at the counter, and she rang up two boxes with toys/candies and it was less than $10! Nice price. My daughter's was a Peppa Pig toy, and there was a paper with cartoons and other stuff on it in Russian. She enjoyed opening Google Translate and picking out the Cyrillic characters on the virtual keyboard to get the translation. Good for her brain. We'll be back. I go to Sunflower twice a week. And this is my favorite Russian grocery store in the Valley. Food is always fresh. Staff is very friendly and polite. Kseniya and Edward are super nice and they remember my name. I love this place and feel comfortable when shopping here. Great little place. The owner is very nice and friendly, unlike most other stores like this. No attitude here. He has avery nice selection of meats, well-priced fruits and vegetables, sausages, even caviar. He carries ice cream, pel'meni, butter, sour cream, etc. Not a super huge selection, but a very nice variety. There is a parking lot in the back. You do not have to park on Topanga. Not so much variety of food. Their bread is always in the fridge since I assume they don't have daily supply of fresh bread. The cakes also frozen for several months in a fridge. Came back later in a month and see same 3 cakes in the fridge. Doesn't look they have fresh supply of food plus super expensive. I wouldn't want to eat previously frozen food. No thanks read more

The best neighborhood Russian grocery store around! Cucumbers and greens are always crispy fresh. Try their homemade sauerkraut--the best in town--stop buying that soggy lame canned sauerkraut imitation from department stores. This store is vegan friendly. I buy my buckwheat for a fraction of department store price here. I'm not Russian, nor do I know anything about eastern European culture, but I stumbled in this store looking for stocking stuffers for Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised. This place has very little selection. Their bologny and smoked meats are great, but the veggies are never fresh and they even look limp. It is a very tiny store. There is a much better place with a lot more optione and everything is fresh it is called Rasputin market and it is in encino but so worth the drive, plus they have home made food lots of different dishes. They have a kitchen there everything is always freshly cooked wright infront of you. read more
