They have an amazing selection of local produce, grab and go meals and lots of fun packaged brands that you don't see at other markets. Of course they have the supermarket staples, but I really loved the local flair. It was fun to come here and pick up some snacks for the weekend. But our main draw was the amazing local selection of beer! We stocked up on some really amazing bevvies. Definitely a must-stop if you are in town. read more

They struggle with refrigeration. While it's a great resource for specialty mustards and. Foods with the long shelf life anything refrigerated is a bit of a crapshoot. They sell foods that are just at their expiration date. They sell food that has come off the truck thawed out and then got back in the freezer which is the worst offense. I've gotten cheese there that has mold on it. They just don't seem to know how to refrigerate and how to maintain an inventory that is fresh. read more

This way over-priced, poorly managed market has aisles so narrow customers are constantly getting clogged up. Good luck finding produce or anything, as items are moved constantly. Is this a sales tactic? You may or may not receive help from employees. And don't count on any item being available with any regularity. Sunflower Market feels like such an intentional and thoughtful take on a grocery store. It's kind of like a Catskills version of Erewhon in LA -- beautifully curated, elevated, and full of personality. The products are clearly chosen with care, with so many local goods and unique finds you don't see everywhere else. Hmm, can't believe I haven't reviewed Sunflower yet. Seems like they have been going through some growing pains in recent years. The newest iteration is good. Food is fresh. Staff is helpful. It seems meat and fish departments have expanded, with more variety than before. Very easy to get ingredients for a nice meal here. The only problem, as many others have noted, is the prices! Coming from NYC, where the price of groceries has been sky high since Covid, this is so disheartening. Prices here seem even higher than NYC in some cases. So, good in a pinch, but don't plan on doing all your shopping here unless you are made of money. read more

First things first, I love the name- the store lives up to it! While hype isn't everything to go by, Sunflower has maintained its popularity for a reason. This is one of the most well-known natural supermarkets in Woodstock. Most (maybe all) of Sunflower products, whether groceries or skincare- are organic at this Mill Hill Rd health food market in town. We picked up very light stuff to have at the cottage or to take during our creekscapades like lots of fruit and plain Chobani, Granola for breakfast plus a few other things. My only issue was that some of the strawberries these folks carry, had moldy ones and I was really thrown off by the quality- especially here. Other than that, Sunflower stocks up nicely. I'm actually really disappointed in the sunflower markert. My husband took me up here last year because all he did was rave about how this place was so good. After walking around and seeing everything, we were both very disappointed. We drove an hour up here just to find it very, very outrageously expensive. We love farm to table, fresh grown items, but this was a little bit too expensive. read more

Such an awesome market with grocery items mostly everything natural and organic. Picture yourself walking through pretty aromatherapy aisles or the essential oil galore along with anything natural you can possibly imagine. Kombucha varieties. Local cheeses. Very tiny pet food section. Pre made cold meals. Just everything you can want and more. There's even a bulk item section where you can buy nuts, beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc with the bulk price cost already prepackaged in clear bags. There's plenty of things that seem to be on sale/special/special of the week such as supplements and oils. Such a great market with awesome people and great vibes. Love this place so much! read more

As a loyal customer here for years, in the past year there has been an appalling uptick in the amount of expired items I have seen on the shelves or accidentally come home with only discover too late that they have expired and now there's no meal. Great natural market in Woodstock. Very well stocked with pantry items, snacks, variety of beverages and local kombuchas, shelf stable alternative milks, and natural personal care. Two stars because they have a good selection of organic groceries and supplements. I would have given 1 star because the outrageous prices. They have signs posted saying there has been a shortage on deliveries. But that should not give cause to hiking up prices. It sends a message that only wealthy people should have access to healthy food. Especially during a pandemic, it is particularly shameful. I highly suggest researching the weekend farmers markets -- it's not as convenient. But it's priced more fairly and realistically. Also often the produce items I have gotten there spoil within a day or two of purchase. Which kind of makes the prices even more of an insult. read more

If you're looking for a fancy organic grocery store, this is the place. It's unfortunate that everything is so expensive (literally the same exact products cost more here than they do in Brooklyn). You're not going to be able to do a cheap grocery run here, OJ for example starts at $7.50 a gallon! But if you've been looking everywhere in the Hudson valley for, say, quinoa spelt crackers, you'll find them here. I guess what I'm saying is that it's more of a specialty store than the grocery store it appears to be from the parking lot. What a delightful surprise to find this well-stocked natural foods market! My favorite part: 8 flavors of kombucha on tap - fill your own bottle ($1.29!!) or growler ($6!!). My favorite flavors are strawberry sage and mulled cider. There's also many other brands of kombucha already bottled, some of which I've never encountered before! They've got everything you'd want here to make a meal or stock up on snacks, as well as a unique selection of beer and cider, and a whole section for supplements and essential oils. Still shocked I was the first to review sunflowers... Anyway this store has grown up over the decades since I first would stop here with my mom as a young boy. From spirulina bites to chocolate covered cherries they had all the good treats. Always a full grocery store now they are a supermarket. From prepared food to separate sections for deli and such. This place kept us well-stocked with lots of great things to cook during our vacation in Woodstock. The store is clean and the staff was courteous. Things were pricey, but that was to be expected from a business that sells largely organic and natural items. This market is decent. It's just as expensive as Mother Earth, which may even be pricier actually. I haven't bought produce, so can't comment on that, but I mainly shop for sale items here. Which they do have good sales on expensive items, and that's when I stock up. I like the selection of dairy free options in the cooler section. But if you head around the corner to the prepackaged food area, the kale pesto pasta is soooooooooo good. The vegan dumplings are good too, depending on the flavor. Can't remember which one I prefer. But I really loves the kale pesto pasta - I've bought it a few times. Craft beer is WAY overpriced. They had the same 6 pack of Woodstock brewing IPA for 19.99 for a four pack where as the tiny cub market in bearsville had it for $14.99. Ridiculous. I love the organic spelt pretzels and selection of ramen. Lots of other goodies if you browse long enough you will find them. read more

crazy expensive but the fermented cabbage was actually like 2 bucks less than at adams in kingston. the expensive asian vegan dumplings were very, very good. the vlt was pre-made, not as good as the ones at sunflower in rhinebeck, and it even gave me the runs. my cashier was very nice and offered me a choice of a 5-cent bag, a free produce bag, or a curated-just-for-me cardboard box (the best/most i have been helped anywhere since the bag ban began.) my cat loves their cat food. the fruit is very tasty and not too-too expensive. i wish they had more fake meat choices. it's a lot like whole foods but with less filler. by far the best thing is that it is quite big and there's lots of room, and that there's a thoughtful selection overall. the difference between here and sunfrost, mother earth, and the other sunflower is that i would go back. read more

I've been shopping at Sunflower Market for 10 years and have seen it grow and change. Unfortunately, as prices have been going up, quality has been going down. The last few times I bought sales items which actually had either gone bad (e.g. Campari tomatoes) or should've been taken out of the shelf (e.g. Theo dark chocolate which looked and tasted like soap when we opened it at home). There's never any sales person around to ask and most cashiers' attitude is just rude. Unfortunately, since there's no real grocery store left in Woodstock, Sunflower often remains the only option when you're short on supplies. read more

I love this place! Great produce, breads, bakery items ranging from non-vegan to vegan, all delicious. Clean but very diverse little market with everything you could want and more from great mom and pop independent brands. Try the 4 pack of rich melt in your mouth (VEGAN and no one will know...) chocolate brownies for $4.79 you will not be disappointed! Very kind and friendly staff make your shopping experience a blast. Cashier and I gushed about the brownies for nearly a minute, I wanted to open the pack and share them with her right then and there :) ** When you are low on cash on your hiking trip from tolls to cash only places its a relief that they accept all major credit cards. read more

Wonderful health food store in Woodstock. Great selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free foods including a small produce section, a vitamin-health section, and many prepared foods. I like to stop in for a sandwich and the interesting selection of heathy soft drinks. I also stock up on vegan items that you won't find in the supermarket. All of this at fair prices. The staff is really great here. I'm not a fan of the BS hippie vibe that infects so much of Tinker Street. One would think Sunflower would be Ground Zero for patchouli-doused posers but it actually turns out to be a place where I can have a positive experience due to the down-to-earth, helpful folks that work here. read more

It's not just the carefully curated selection of groceries, it's the size of the place - small, but filled with what you need making your trip an easy one where you don't have to decide between five kinds of cacao nibs because they have just the ones you will need. In addition to your food needs, Sunflower has an extensive selection of herbal remedies, homeopathic aides and natural products that will have you busy making potions in your head. Along with this unique extra, they have fresh breads and bakery items that look delicious, as well as what I found to be, a very decent organic produce section in the front. Sunflower seems to know what you need. If you think you need something different, you're probably wrong. It's a friendly atmosphere where you can shop healthy, feel good and not spend 30 minutes in the cereal aisle because there are 40 versions of Erewhon that all seem the same. read more

Only food market I saw around the Woodstock Tinkle/Mill Hills area. This shop is right next to a Rite Aid, and has a large parking area. This food market sold fresh produce, packaged items,home goods, and skin care/make up. Almost everything sold here was natural, related to good nutrition, and organic. Everything was quite expensive in my opinion, but since it is the main food market around the area the locals probably have no choice but to purchase most of their items here. We didn't purchase any food items from here as we were leaving Woodstock that day, but I did purchase some locally made lavender soaps & lotions. They were such good quality items that it was worth the price. read more
