I don't think I can actually put into words how awesome y'all are, but I'm going to give it a shot. First of all Sunflower oven is Organic, starts all their breads off with their own starter, that is unique to Sunflower Oven. No other breads compare to your flavors & uniqueness's. The Sour dough is like nothing we have ever had it is truly one of a kind Organic gourmet sourdough bread. And it is superb. The turkey sammy you make with it is to die for! I didn't think I would like cucumbers on my turkey sammy but it works beautifully. The texture & flavor is amazeballs. The bagel?! Oh My. The bagel changed our lives. Thank you so much for adding the capers to the bagel for us. It is simply the most incredible bagel sammy we have ever had in our lives. We get at least one every visit. By the way, we drive 5 hours one way to visit Sunflower oven. We live in Pirate'cola, Florida. But back to how great Sunflower oven is; Your dark chocolate rye cookie?! !!! What in the world?! This is really one of my favorite places in Jackson, and maybe, like, the world. First of all, it's a worker-owned business, so it's worthy of your support for that reason alone. But they more than earn it with the quality of the food. Everything has the taste and feel of something made for you by an old friend--in part because all of their baked goods are whole wheat sourdough made from grains grown in the south. I recommend the veggie bagel, chocolate rye cookies, babka, biscotti, and, around Mardi Gras, amazing king cake. When I can, I buy a loaf of their bread and make sandwiches all week. The recent Thursday night pizza nights have been really fun. This is one of the few places open in Jackson on Sunday, and it is a great place to sip coffee and read for a few hours. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Seeing them when I come in is part of what keeps me coming back. I'm grateful this place exists! Life in Jackson would be sadder without it. read more

The king cake tour continues with a 5/10 score! I ordered their cinnamon sugar cream cheese King Cake and the presentation was great. I loved their generosity with the icing!!! The spiraling of cream cheese and cinnamon was also the best around so far. However.... due to the bakery using stone milled flour, it does have an almost whole grain taste in addition to being pretty dense for a cake/pastry. Secondly, the citrus flavor was not for me. I am not going to knack them too much for this. If you like a strong orange citrus, then this king cake is for you. It was a little over powering for me but I applaud them for doing something unique. I was really impressed with the candied orange pieces on top, just personally not a flavor for me but there was nothing wrong with the execution. Not sure why there is so many negative reviews about the staff. They were friendly on both occasions I stopped in. The packaging of the king cake was slightly lack luster but the size made up for it. I'm so disgusted that a restaurant! The food was mediocre and it's unfortunate they aren't educated on their beliefs! We ordered food, the server that took our order was giving us attitude the whole time because my 5yo son has a severe dairy allergy. She was clearly annoyed that he can't eat cream cheese which would hospitalize him since he has a true allergy. The ambiance is disgusting controversial and made me uncomfortable. I don't come to eat to see extremists point of view. Completely distorted my experience. If I saw it from the beginning I would have never stepped foot inside this place. I wish I would have known before we came here. Would have never supported this place with a dollar of my money. I was so excited about this place. So incredibly disappointed. Very rude staff. Wish I could leave "zero" stats. No one said "hello" or anything when I walked in the door. In fact, it appeared my presence was bothering the person behind the counter. She was extremely unfriendly and unpleasant. The baguettes were BURNT and hard as a brick. When I said I thought they were burned she looked at me like I was something on the bottom of her shoe. Yuck. You could kill a person if you hit them in the head with one of these hockey sticks. I think the worst part was how horrible the staff were. The overall vibe was as if someone had just died. We were driving thru Jackson on a family vacation trip. Jumped on yelp and this place had pretty good reviews so we thought we would check it out. We ordered 2 BEC sandwiches, 2 nuttela and jam sandwiches and 1 cold turkey sandwich. The positives the employees were very nice. They even brought our food out to the outside tables for us. The turkey sandwich was great. I really enjoyed it. My husband and daughter both said the BEC sandwich was bland. And the baguettes for the nuttela and jam sandwiches were over baked or maybe over toasted? My 8 year old manged to eat his but my 2 year old couldn't chew the bred at all. They also came deconstructed which while fun was more mess then I really wanted to deal with. Although the service was great we wouldn't stop again. read more

There is NO WAY these 5 star reviews are real! This place is not worth the trip! Was driving through town and learned the hard way that I should look before I order. First off the baguette was truly a waste of money. The focaccia bread was DRENCHED in oil. I literally had to throw it away because the bag was so soaked in oil that it got all over my car :( The service was disgusting and the employees need some serious training on customer service.
