So as a Jewish guy traveling through Mississippi, I didn't expect to find a great bagel place. It's in a really cold building with an outside courtyard and water fountain and the food is fantastic

Waiting, waiting, and waiting for service.

I adored Beagle Bagel when my boyfriend was at Ole Miss. They have a location in Oxford that is great!!! Unfortunately, I live 6 hours away from Oxford. We were passing through Jackson today, and I was dead set on coming to this location since I've been missing my Oxford Beagle Bagel visits. I had high hopes, but this location simply does not compare. I mainly say that because of the service. It was only the two of us and two other small groups of people in the whole store. This still seemed to be too overwhelming for the staff. They were not very efficient or customer oriented. Not sure how else to describe it. The two employees were actually bickering back and forth in front of us for a few minutes. Awkward. I ordered my beloved chicken salad on an everything bagel. It comes with a side. I got chips. The bagel didn't seem as fresh as it should be. Took a lot of effort to chew. But overall, it tasted good. They really do have some of the best chicken salad!

This review is strictly based on my Shrimp Po-Boy which had the worst fried shrimp I've ever experienced. It was cooked beyond belief and felt like chewing rubber. Breading was probably tasty had the order been properly cooked but could not tell. I had my wife taste a piece, she confirmed my opinion. Bread was buttered and grilled but did not have the feel of a real po-boy bun as if it were on the old side which is strange as the place is a bakery. I don't know what dressing was used, tasted like plain mayo. This is a strong do-not-ever-order recommendation. Fries were good, probably cut fresh. If I ate in, the order would be sent back to the kitchen. My replacement would likely have been better but QC on the takeout was lacking. I understand it's a popular spot in Jackson and was certainly full when I picked up the order. My meal, sadly, was quite forgettable. Other meals that were part of the order seemed OK but, in my eyes, uninspired. Edit: Heard from the manager with with an apology and offer to make up for the issue to my local relatives since I'm only a visitor to the area. I'm convinced that this was a one-off issue and greatly appreciate the manager reaching out. I'll give them another try on my next visit and will update things accordingly.

Well I'm not sure why this never came up on our previous visits but now that I know...I will be back every time. During this COVID time the owner is definitely taking precautions. We were looking around and she very nicely asked us to wait in the car. I can appreciate that as that tells me she's taking this seriously so I felt completely comfortable eating our food. Now the food!!! We got the carrot dog and the BBQ Sandwich. I make carrot dogs at home and we love them. I thought I was doing something but oh man I need her to give me a tutorial! It was so tasty. My mom, who is very unadventurous with her food was very surprised how much she liked it. The bbq sandwich was also super good. It's has so much flavor and the pretzel bun was sturdy enough to handle all the "saucy-ness". It came with blue chips which gave me a small hint of how good her nachos must be. She even gifted us a treat...her peach cobbler. I'm normally not a sweet eater but I ate all of my part. She gave us a lot too. I look forward to returning again and again!

We walked in…read morearound 9am on a Sunday morning and, after confirming they had pork-alternatives on the menu, waited to be seated. The place was not crowded but was doing a decent business and we only waited about a minute before being escorted to our table. The space is slightly cramped, as you have to walk single file down the aisles, especially if there are customers at the tables. Regardless, the decor is nicely done with cool copper looking A/C ductwork exposed among the black painted rafters and beams in the ceiling. I was immediately arrested by the Apple Fritter French Toast, French toast style fritters with fried apples, rum butter sauce, blueberries and powdered sugar! Both the description and the pictures on the menu were mouth-watering! But I was also torn between that and the Bourbon Street Pancakes, three house-recipe cakes topped bananas, pecans, rum butter sauce drizzle and whipped cream. Yeah, I was thinking exactly what you are thinking right now! After much indecision, I opted for the French Toast, with a side of eggs and chicken sausage. My mom ordered the Pumplin Crunch Waffle, a pumpkin infused graham cracker crunch Belgian waffle, spiced pumpkin cheesecake butter, maple pumpkin syrup and powdered sugar. I also opted to try one of their Cranberry Pomegranate Fizz Mocktail, which was iced tea, cranberry and pomegranate syrups, lime and ginger beer, with rosemary and orange peel! We were taking no calories prisoner today! After a short wait, my mocktail was brought out. It was just okay. First, the glass was completely full of ice so there was barely any drink. The syrups were a little too sweet and the ginger beer was not very prominent. As I was tasting it, our server came back to inform me that they were out of apples for my French Toast. Maybe its just me, but 9am seems kind of early to be running out of ingredients for your featured dish at a breakfast/brunch restaurant... Anyway, that dilemna settled, I reverted to my other choice and got the Bourbon Pancakes. I also asked the server to remake my mocktail with less ice, which he obliged very quickly. Our food arrived shortly thereafter and the pancakes were really good! Just the right amount of flavor and syrup. My mom's belgian waffle was also pretty good, although she wished it had been larger. The eggs and sausage were decent, but not especially memorable. Overall, it was a really enjoyable first meal back in Jackson. I would not hesitate to come again!

It was after 1 PM on a Sunday afternoon in late April 2025. I was hungry and didn't want to find anything that was open on a Sunday. It was best that picking up something fresh here seem to be the only course of action without having to traverse all over town for a bite to eat. There was two tables that were placed outside the hallway where the Nissan cafe was. The experience here was very quick casual. I probably took about 10 minutes from looking at the menu above the counter and decide to have some New Orleans cooking. The jambalaya featured that day was really good and delicious. I also had the brisket wrap, which was also delicious and a compliment to the jambalaya. I ended up ordering from the counter and paid for my meal, like a general fast food encounter would be. I told them I'll be outside at the tables. After 15 minutes, they brought it out to me, and I went to town with it. For the most part, though, I was thankful that this place was here and also was open on a Sunday afternoon too. It's for everybody and anyone who is here visiting the museums and wanted a bite to eat or have a have a drink while exploring the magnificent exhibits that these two museums have to offer. The Nissan cafe is a small little café that serves up delicious food for everyone who wants. The menu was simple and very limited though. Just a choice of a few items that you could order and it would be the highlight of your day here in Jackson, Mississippi. The overall experience here at the Nissan Cafe by Nick Wallace was good and definitely worth coming here especially when you don't need to be anywhere else but a museum in Jackson on a weekend. The service here was good, fast, and casual. While the simple set up was just that, it was definitely nice to have Cajun Creole food at your fingertips without having to scour the sea looking for it. If future travels permit me to do so, I will come back and try out more of what I missed the first time. The prices is here are not bad, plus you're supporting a small business inside a public museum. It's all good. I don't mind spending extra for a good meal that's benefiting the cafe as well as the museum. It was nice to dine here and I hope to come back here soon. As far as staff goes, you have to clean up after you are done, but they bring you your food after you purchase it. There is no servers, just a simple cafe that brings you genuine Cajun / creole cuisine here in Jackson, Mississippi. Aspect is to come here to enjoy the two museums here and have lunch. That is the best combination you could have on a weekend afternoon. Dress casually during the summer and dress warmly in the winter. The Nissan Cafe by Mike Wallace is located inside the dual museums - Mississippi Civil Rights & Museum of Mississippi History. It's physically located at 222 North Street in beautiful Jackson, Mississippi. The museums charge admission fees daily but also have days where admission is free. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, you might want to see if there is private parking for the museums first. I happen to use uber for my travel needs. And as needed, you can find street parking where you can find it. If you prefer Jackson's public transportation, consider the routes that's right for you and get here for the day. Explore the museums at your leisure and have lunch at the Nissan Cafe by Mike Wallace while you are here. And as always, uber and Lyft are always at your disposal whenever you need it. The only regret that I didn't do was grabbing dinner just before leaving the area here. That way I had something for that evening. Oh well. If you visit the museum, you should consider dining here and having a bite to eat. Definitely a good place for y'all while supporting the museum and the cafe. Recommended if you are in the area and love Cajun and creole cuisine like me. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+
