She was totally professional, polite and gave me really good information, which based upon her near 20 years of experience at John Knox Village, she was more than able to do. John Knox Village is huge in size, covering some 70 acres but it's not just some other big complex. Not at all. With its beautiful and lush setting along with a near endless list of amenities, it's actually a piece of tropical paradise. I couldn't have been more impressed with good health care offerings, with everything from independent living to assisted to full care all covered under a life contract. Also. their housing with their Garden Villas, Heritage, Village and Cassels towers with two or single bedroom (maybe more) designs. In all you really have to actually see it to know it. But without any equivocation I can say for what it is, it's the best around that I know about.

Under Florida's power of attorney laws, including section 709.2105, that document remains fully in effect and meets the execution requirements.[1][2] In October 2024, my brother placed her in Treemont on the Park ALF using a different power of attorney created in 2019 that is missing the legally required second witness signature, so it is invalid under Florida law, and simply registering it in Broward County does not fix that defect.[3][1] Before entering Treemont on the Park, my mother could walk, but there staff routinely kept her tied into a wheelchair under the excuse of "safety" instead of giving her real physical therapy, and now she can barely stand and has been left with only one tooth, which management claims is "fine."[4][5] Treemont on the Park has told me that "the family" is fine with her not walking and having no teeth, but I am her family and I absolutely am not fine with this, and I am deeply concerned about her health, comfort, and dignity. While many of the ladies who care for her are kind, the manager, Stephen Tarquino, has been consistently rude, telling me my mother would never leave unless my brother said so, yelling at me for walking her by the fence, and finally daring me to call the police if I did not like his decisions.[6][7] Despite receiving my valid, notarized power of attorney, he refuses to recognize my authority and has barred me from seeing, visiting, or speaking with my own mother, forcing me to turn to government agencies and other channels to protect her. Including my mom and sister, which killed me when I read it!!! My mom died of Covid from the negligent staff in this facility. From the very beginning of the pandemic, my mother never left this facility. A healthcare worker from outside of the facility contacted me and stated my mom had not been feeling well for days and was concerned. It was not the nursing staff that contacted me!! We called and had my mom sent to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Covid from her chest xray before her Covid test even resulted. She suffered for 11 days before she passed!!!!!! I later found out they took other residents out to vote 9 days before my mom went into the hospital. Who takes the most vulnerable population out to vote during a pandemic!!!!!!! I found this out by pictures and videos they posted on Facebook!! Some of the photos were removed after my mom's death but I took screen shots of everyone!!! I saw Employees and Residents in their facility van with no mask on! Pictures of workers with no mask on!! They also had group gatherings with pizza and games inside the facility. Staff painting residents nails with no masks on (staff and residents)!!!!!! In August 2020, I went to the facility and saw the workers inside the facility walking around with no masks and I questioned one of the nurses and she informed me "the masks make my lips hurt" !!!! Really!!!! I immediately informed the owner. Clearly, PPE guidelines were not followed or enforced. My mom past away November 21st, 2020. My aunt was a roommate with my mom at this facility. I moved my aunt out in December 2020. After my mom passed, I saw the staff in full PPE!! Why did it take my mom's death for them to start following the guidelines!!!! My aunt became Septic several times at the facility due to neglect of letting her urinary catheter back up. I wonder now if she should of even been in this facility with a urinary catheter???? In December, after my mother's death, my aunt became Septic and had to be admitted. I refused to have her transferred back to this facility!! She had lost 20lbs and had become so weak. The staff never informed me she wasn't eating. Someone other than the staff informed me. It sickens me how both of my family members suffered due to neglect in this facility. I am heartbroken and now live with guilt for not being able to keep my mom safe

They have a state-of-the-art clubhouse that has ping pong tables , a theater and a gym The apartments themselves are very large 900 square feet and all of them have a balcony. The balconies look out on the trees including the pool for some and the lake for others. The only negative in the two units we saw were the kitchens, which are outdated. Two meals a day are provided so I was not as concerned about the kitchen. Mom and I had dinner in their dining room and I have to say the food was very good. They have a regular menu and then an alternate menu that you can choose from daily. There are four course dinners available if you want to eat a lot. My mom will be moving in next week. I just searched Yelp to find some ways for help and made many calls. Then I tried Responsive Home Care. Genevieve called me back and explained that they provide in home care but do not provide nursing care and she gave me the cell phone numbers of direct contacts who could help with the nursing, including Complete Home Care who came thru big time and then divided in home nursing starting the next day. If it weren't for Genevieve's help I would never have gotten that nursing visits that quickly before the weekend. Now, I knew I also needed in home care to start as well. And working with Genevieve we started with 5-day service the following week. My mom was recovering from a severe infection and my dad has issues with eyesight and needed help w taking care of her, keeping house fit, light food prep, and driving to doctors appointments. Valdine was their in-home care provider and did a great job in helping my mom to get back on her feet and my dad to feel things were all good. I can't thank Responsive Home Care and Genevieve in particular for helping me in this tough situation when I was stuck on the other side of the. country. I recommend them highly.
