I had a long travel day from San Francisco to Ventura by way of Burbank for a monthly business trip. I was beat, tired muscles and had knots in my lower back and thought
I'll check into my hotel then check out Yelp for a local massage. Sunflower Spa had good reviews so I gave a call and booked an hour.
Sunny greeted me into her lovely reception area -- decorated with art work and sunflower and tiger collectables everywhere -- this you have to see! There is a hot shower and two rooms. One smaller room with the ceiling poles for back walking and the main massage room which was warm and handsomely decorated with paintings and spiritual artwork.
It felt cozy and private. Soft Asian instrumental music was playing.
I asked for "strong" and pointed to two areas in my lower back when she started. Occasionally, Sunny would ask if the pressure was okay and if I was okay -- it was perfect! Sunny has a friendly, calming, happy spirit with excellent therapeutic skills.
She found a knot near my left shoulder blade and gave it attention. No pain, no gain. It's all worth it in the end! I enjoyed the hot towel afterwards too. She gently brushed it on my back, her way of telling me that she's about to put a hot towel, and then placed it on. I loved how she used the hot heat from the towel to massage my neck and shoulders! Then, she continued to wipe/massage the oil/lotion off.
After the massage was over, I got dressed and came back to the decorative reception area. There she gave me a cool water drink to rehydrate. She offered green tea too.
I felt so relaxed, my knots were gone and glad I had found a good, honest massage experience in Ventura. The deep tissue work was exactly what I needed.
Sunny's generous and professional work on my back and neck deserved my generous tip.
I left feeling super relaxed and at ease -- and slept the night through. Next day, I continued to feel the benefit of her work. Can't wait to go back and intend to make this a regular monthly visit.
Chances are, when in Ventura, you'll fall in love with Sunny at Sunflower Spa and see it for the true gem it is!
