Really bad experience. Had the male massage therapist. I came in specifically for help with a migraine and wanted him to focus on my neck, shoulders and head. 30 mins in he's just tapping me with one hand on my legs... I keep thinking he will get there, just be patient... but nothing changed. I spoke up nicely and said "no legs- neck please", he said "yes soon". The last 5 mins of my 90 min massage, he did a good job on my neck, never once touched my shoulders or head. I was bummed. He also continued to snort his snot really loud, clear his throat and wiped his bare hand on his runny nose - then massaged me with it. I asked him not too but he kept doing it. 2 days later I was sicker than I'd ever been. I live alone - no exposure. So displeased. Also it's clothing on. As the massage begins they bring a tub of warm water for you to soak your feet for a few minutes and they cover your eyes with a towel to enhance your relaxation. Then it's all about your feet. I'm telling you, your feet are going to be loving the attention. You know, your feet do so much for you. They put up with all kinds of abuse. Hiking, dancing, ill-fitting shoes; they all take a toll. Kilai is located on the shopping center on Petit and Telephone where the Grocery Outlet is. BUT, Kilai is on the side of the strip mall and the front door faces Petit. You might miss is otherwise. Arrived with a very stiff neck and shoulders and luckily, I was able to do a walk-in for a chair massage. They do their best to generate a calming/soothing environment. They even go as to using hushed tones when answering their phones and keeping it on vibrate instead of letting it ring. Tiny little things, but they all add up. They also play background music that's pretty calming and the music isn't the repetitive boring sea waves or chimes music. They play the background music of Cantonese songs that I recognized when I had my chair massage. To start, you enter and you will sign in the book for what massage you want and how long you want it. Once they check you in, they will write down the time for when the massage is so you can reference it back that you paid for however many minutes, and you got what you paid for. A nice safety measure on their part in my opinion and assures the customer they will not get cheated. Pretty no frills and you don't have to undress for the chair massage. You sit down on the chair, and you get worked on immediately. The male owner massaged me, and he had some very nice skills and good consistent pressure throughout the massage. He utilized his hands, forearms, and elbows depending on the spots. He definitely got my stiff neck and knots correlated to my neck and shoulders out, which I was very glad for as that was the main reason for my visit. It's the type of massage where you feel very "bruised" and sore afterwards the next day. I felt quite a bit of soreness around the massaged areas, but I didn't have any visible bruising. So I like to think it was an effective massage that was still very relaxing despite the after effects. I wouldn't mind coming back to them for future visits for maintenance. Not necessarily just visits for fixes, but perhaps several times in a year to unwind and relieve built up pressure and tension with a chair massage. Turned out to be no problem, "come on in." The location is run by two individuals, one man and one woman, which was no problem. I got the man who told me his name was Kun. Strong hands and good technique for what I needed. Once I arrived, I could see the open and clean space. There are no private rooms, rather they have what look like four gazebo structures contained within the large main room. The lighting and music is all perfectly established to provide a relaxing atmosphere. I had the 60-minute full body massage. I didn't tell Kun where my challenge areas were (lower back and neck), but he found them. As I sit here today, the day after, I feel great! My experience was pleasurable, don't expect a high-end massage environment, the venue is open air and semi-private. You also get massaged while clothed, but with a towel covering, so don't wear thick clothing. One hour is $49.99 plus tip. read more
